A cone beam CT scanner comprises a receiving section configured to receive a breast of the subject whilst in the supine position, a radiation imaging section comprising an x-ray tube and a detector which face each other and have the receiving section interposed therebetween, and a drive unit operable to move the receiving section to a position suitable for imaging the breast of the subject. A method for breast radiography is also disclosed.

A system and method for delivering radiation therapy to a patient includes generating a radiation therapy plan and adjusting a shape of at least one of a plurality of multi-leaf collimators (MLCs) arranged in an arc about a patient bed to create a respective plurality of desired beam profiles for each of the plurality of MLCs to thereby implement the ultrafast radiation therapy plan delivery. The method further includes control a radiation therapy source to execute the radiation therapy plan by creating the respective plurality of desired beam profiles for each of the plurality of MLCs.

Systems and methods for dynamic control of radiation dose in radiation therapy

A system for coordinating radiation therapy and imaging processes includes a radiation therapy system an radiation source mounted on a robotically-controlled system to move the radiation source about a subject to direct radiation to a target area in the subject according to a treatment plan. The system also includes an imaging system configured to acquire imaging data from a subject. The imaging system and the radiation therapy system are independently movable. The system also includes a coordination system configured to coordinate operation of the imaging system to acquire the imaging data from the subject during movement of the radiation source about the subject according to the treatment plan to avoid collisions of the radiation therapy system with the imaging system.

Systems and methods for image-guided radiotherapy using dual robot architecture

A radiotherapy system and method for delivering radiotherapy are provided. In some aspects, the radiotherapy system includes beam director comprising a radiation source configured to generate radiation for irradiating a patient, the beam director having at least four degrees of freedom of movement. The radiotherapy system also includes a controller configured to operate the beam director to irradiate the patient in accordance with a radiation treatment plan, wherein the radiation treatment plan is generated based on a solution space determined by the at least four degrees of freedom of movement of the beam director.

Systems and methods for delivering radiotherapy

Systems and method for generating and executing volumetric modulated arc therapy ('VMAT') plans are provided. In some aspects, the method includes receiving a representation of a subject comprising information related to target and non-target volumes of interest, and generating an objective function based on the representation of the subject, wherein the objective function accounts for dynamic collimator rotation. The method also includes performing an iterative optimization process, using the objective function, to generate a dynamic collimator VMAT plan, and generating a report in accordance with the dynamic collimator VMAT plan.

System and method for optimized dynamic collimator rotation in volumetric modulated arc therapy

The present disclosure provides methods for user adaptive radiation therapy planning and a system for using the same. In some aspect, method for generating a radiation therapy plan is provided. The method includes receiving imaging information acquired from a patient and producing a preliminary radiation therapy plan, using a treatment planning system, based on the imaging information. The method also includes generating an indication for modifying the preliminary radiation therapy plan in accordance with a predetermined clinician profile, wherein the predetermined clinician profile is based on a trained learning machine. The method further includes producing, using the indication, an updated radiation therapy plan that is adapted to the predetermined clinician profile.

Methods for user adaptive radiation therapy planning and systems using the same

In certain embodiments novel sparse orthogonal collimators (SOCs) for use in radiotherapy are provided. In certain embodiments the SOCs comprise 2 layer 4 bank orthogonal collimators with 2-8 leaves in each of the 4 banks. Instead of using the limited heuristic approach to create jaw-only IMRT, a novel fluence map optimization method is provided based on wavelet decomposition and this method is used for IMRT. An algorithm to simplify the fluence maps with minimal and predictable dose quality compromise is also provided.

A system and method are provided for generating and delivering a volumetric modulated arc therapy ('VMAT') plan to a patient. In some aspects, the method includes receiving a representation of a patient comprising information related to target and non-target volumes of interest and generating an objective function based on the representation of the patient. The method also includes performing an iterative optimization process using the objective function to generate a VMAT plan and generating a report according to the VMAT plan.

System and method for volumetric modulated arc therapy

In various embodiments, methods and devices are provided for generating a radiotherapy treatment plan for a subject to be implemented on a radiotherapy device. In certain embodiments the methods involve determining all feasible radiotherapy beam orientations free of collision for said radiotherapy device and said subject to provide a set of radiotherapy beam orientations; selecting from the set of all feasible radiotherapy beam orientations a subset of beams that meet treatment goals to be used in treatment of the subject to provide a selected beam set; calculating a navigation trajectory for the radiotherapy device to delivery said subset of beams to the subject where the trajectory is free of collision; and generating and writing instruction files to a tangible medium that can be executed by said radiotherapy device.

Radiotherapy utilizing the entire 4PI solid angle

A comfortable, light weight device to properly position and elongate breast tissue for extended periods of time during radiotherapy and other medical procedures. In one embodiment, the breast fixation device is a generally cylindrical inflatable enclosure that wraps around the breast tissue. In another embodiment, the breast fixation device is composed of multiple rings that are placed around the breast tissue and inflated. In a further embodiment, the breast fixation device consists of multiple inflatable fingers which drape around the breast tissue and then squeeze the breast tissue into an elongated position as they are inflated.
