A portable terminal device can extrapolate the position of a sound source in the thicknesswise direction regardless of the use style. A slide type portable terminal has an upper casing, a lower casing, and a coupling part that couples the casings in such a way that their positional relation is changeable. The upper casing has a plurality of first microphones, and the lower casing has a second microphone. In a handhold style, one of the first microphones and the second microphone are lined in the thicknesswise direction of the cellular phone. As the upper casing is slid, the other one of the first microphones and the second microphone are lined in the thicknesswise direction of the cellular phone. The position of a sound source in the thicknesswise direction can be extrapolated from output signals of a formed microphone array in the thicknesswise direction.

Portable terminal device

A communication terminal apparatus which improves the a quality of an additional function such as image processing, music reproduction etc. over repressing power consumption is provided. The communication terminal apparatus has a transmission and reception unit adapted to transmit or receive a signal including a voice signal or an image signal, a decode processing unit adapted to decode a received signal, a first control circuit for controlling the transmission and reception unit and the decode processing unit, a second control circuit for processing an image signal which is outputted from the decode processing unit, a first power supply unit adapted to supply electric power to the first control circuit, and a second power supply unit adapted to supply electric power to the second control circuit, and in case that the communication terminal apparatus is not operated for a given length of time, the second power supply unit reduces electric power to the second control circuit.

A broadcast station synchronization method in a mobile terminal operating with a system clock different from the reference clock of a broadcast station, wherein a clock synchronized with the broadcast station is reproduced according to an internal reference clock corrected by the reference time information from the broadcast station, a difference between an elapsed time at a predetermined time interval and the audio reproduction time is detected, the audio reproduction time is adjusted to cancel the difference, and the PCM transmission for reproducing the audio uses a signal indicating the PCM data transmission completion as a trigger for latching the internal reference clock count unit reproducing the clock synchronized with the broadcast station so as to acquire the clock time synchronized with the broadcast station of the same period as the audio reproduction time per a predetermined period, thereby performing synchronization with the broadcast station.

Broadcast station synchronization method and mobile terminal

To display a horizontally oblong movie on a vertically oblong display portion, the movie may be displayed with being rotated 90 degrees by a CPU while the display portion is held in an orientation where the display portion is wider than tall. Since this arrangement puts a heavy load on the CPU, the mobile terminal according to the invention is adapted to implement the movie rotation by processings in the display portion. More specifically, an image memory in the display portion has a foursquare figure each side of which has a length the same as a longer side of a display panel of the display portion. A picture data is written on the memory in the same direction as a direction in which the picture data is read out to be transferred to the panel by the driver portion, and the driver portion rotates the picture data when transferring it.

Mobile terminal

A portable mobile unit for alerting on incoming of a signal by a ringing sound, comprises: a ringing sound generator for generating the ringing sound in a plurality of patterns; and a controller for controlling operations of the portable mobile unit, wherein the controller select one pattern from the a plurality of patterns based on conditions which are set up in advance, when the signal comes in, so as to control the ringing sound generator to generate the ringing sound for alerting a user of the incoming call, thereby providing the portable mobile unit being superior in the usability, with which various conditions can be grasped by means of change in the ringing sound when the telephone call comes in, while achieving the discrimination of the ringing sound for alerting of the incoming call.
