A power generation sailing ship has a sail provided on a deck, a water turbine connected to a front end of a shaft passing through a bow part outer hull and extending forward, a power generator disposed in a front body of the sailing ship and connected to a rear end of the shaft, and an energy storage device for directly storing electric energy generated by the power generator or converting the electric energy into energy of a substance and storing the substance.

Power generation sailing ship and a hydrogen production and supply system

[Problem to be solved] An object of the present invention is to provide a zero emission power generation sailing ship, wherein generated electric power is consumed for electric demand in the ship or consumed for electric demand in the ship and for driving the ship in response to wind condition, thereby realizing zero emission navigation. [Means for solving the problem] A zero emission power generation sailing ship comprises a sail provided on a deck, a water turbine-propeller, a power generator-motor which is driven by the water turbine-propeller operating as a water turbine and drives the water turbine-propeller operating as a propeller, and an energy storage device for directly storing electric energy generated by the power generator-motor or converting the electric energy into energy of a substance and storing the substance, wherein the water turbine-propeller operates as a water turbine and the power generator-motor operates as a power generator so as to generate electric power and a part of the generated electric power is consumed for electric demand in the ship and residual part of the generated electric power is stored in the energy storage device when the wind is strong, while the power generator-motor operates as a motor and the water turbine-propeller operates as a propeller and a part of the electric power drawn from the energy storage device is consumed for electric demand in the ship and residual part of the electric power is consumed for driving the power generator-motor operating as a motor when the wind is light, and further comprises a course selecting device provided with a computer program for selecting course based on ocean wind forecasting data so as to prevent exhaustion of the electric power stored in the energy storage device.

Zero emission power generation sailing ship

A sailing ship includes a sailing unit, which comprises a hard sail assembly comprising a plurality of hard sail sections of wing-shaped hollow cross section vertically stacked so each, except the lowermost, fits on the one immediately below; a mast assembly comprising a plurality of mast sections of hollow cross section vertically stacked so each, except the lowermost, fits in the one immediately below; connecting members for connecting upper ends of the hard sail sections to upper ends of the mast sections located at the same level; first means for moving each mast section, except the lowermost, toward and away from the one immediately below; and second means for rotating the mast assembly around its longitudinal axis. Overlapping lengths between vertically adjacent mast sections are variably controlled so as to variably control overlapping lengths between vertically adjacent hard sail sections. Thus, the hard sail assembly vertically expands and contracts.

Sailing ship

A sailing ship comprises a hard sail assembly. The hard sail assembly comprises a plurality of hard sails of wing-shaped hollow cross section. The hard sails are vertically stacked so that each except the lowermost is received in the one immediately below. The sailing ship further comprises an apparatus for driving the hard sails to move each except the lowermost toward and away from the one immediately below, a post extending vertically to support the lowermost hard sail, and a second apparatus for rotating the post around its longitudinal axis. Overlapping lengths between vertically adjacent hard sails are variably controlled to make the hard sail assembly expand and contract vertically.
