Pattern image reader device and image stabilizer device incorporated in image forming apparatus

A conventional image forming device having a plurality of image optical scanning recording sections has had a drawback of being incapable of correcting printing positions of the image optical scanning recording sections with high precision by using a small-scale circuit. In the case of an image forming device of the present invention, a variable clock generator 114 having a voltage control oscillator (VCO) 114a is provided therein as reference clock signal generating means of laser control system of each of image optical scanning recording sections (LSU) for cyan, yellow, and magenta. By so doing, during an invalid printing period prior to a valid printing period, frequencies of the reference clock signals of the LSUs for cyan, yellow, and magenta are adjusted in accordance with offsets of printing start positions of these LSUs with respect to that of the LSU for black, so that printing offsets are eliminated. As a result, the printing start positions are made to coincide with each other with high precision even with a small-scale circuit.

The present invention is intended to reduce a f.theta. correction error by correcting an error of an object scanning speed which is produced because a reflecting point of a laser beam moves on a polygon mirror. In an inventive laser scanner, laser light emitted from a laser oscillator is condensed into a beam by a condenser lens at first. This laser beam is reflected by a polygon mirror rotated by a scanning section and is reflected again to a photoreceptor by a curved reflecting mirror. A curved profile of a reflecting plane of the curved reflecting mirror in the main scanning direction is formed so as to be asymmetrical on right and left bounding about a scanning center point. Thereby, variation of speed for scanning the curved reflecting mirror by the light reflected by the polygon mirror may be canceled by the curved reflecting mirror and a speed for scanning the object may be fixed almost at a predetermined speed.

The static latent image formed on the photoreceptor which has been charged, by exposing it to light, is developed through four colors of developing units, i.e., yellow, magenta, cyan and black, forming toner images on the photoreceptor. These toner images are transferred to the transfer drum. Before forming the toner images, a device is provided to correct the measurement value of toner density obtained using the light emitter and photosensor into an exact value. Based on the reflected light from a white-coated area formed on the transfer drum, two levels of the intensities of emitted light are determined. The intensity of received light is compared to the standard value so that the output value from the photosensor corresponding to the toner density is made to approximate the standard value.

As a result, the first transfer and the second transfer are individually and simultaneously carried out. Furthermore, since the intermediate transfer drum does not become large in size, it is avoidable that the image forming apparatus becomes bulkier, while the lowering of the copying speed can also be suppressed.

An image forming apparatus is provided with a photoreceptor, and an exposure device for exposing the photoreceptor based on image data so as to form an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor. The exposure device has a plurality of light emitting devices aligned along a main scanning direction of the photoreceptor, the respective light emitting devices having a plurality of luminescence portions, and a light emitting device driver for applying a voltage to the respective luminescence portions so that the luminescence area of the light emitting device increases step by step whenever the applied voltage increases by a predetermined voltage based on the image data. A copying machine is disclosed which is capable of copying an original document having a page number by preliminarily erasing or correcting the page number portion of the image and by changing the order of the output images according to their respective page numbers or by changing the path for delivering the sheet of paper to be copied. A document page image read-in by a charge coupled device sensor is converted into digital signals which are corrected for shading and then binarized and stored in an image memory. This image data is transferred to a working memory wherein the page number shown on the document is read by a page number recognizing unit. The control unit checks the page number and allocates a binding margin on a suitable portion of the document's image. On the basis of the recognition of the page number on the document's image, it also decides to copy the document on one side of the sheet of paper and to deliver it out, or to copy the next document onto the other side of the sheet of paper.
