The present invention provides a hybrid vehicle including a first transmission path that transmits a traction of an engine to driving wheels and a second transmission path that transmits a traction of a motor to the driving wheels, and the hybrid vehicle runs by alternatively selecting either the first or second transmission path or in combination thereof. The first transmission path has a first reduction gear ratio that is defined to be smaller than a reduction gear ratio at which a maximum vehicle speed can be achieved by the traction of the engine alone.

Hybrid vehicle

A motor is provided with: an inner rotor having inner permanent magnets arranged in a peripheral direction and an outer rotor having outer permanent magnets arranged in the peripheral direction, the mutual axes of rotation of the inner rotor and the outer rotor being arranged coaxially, and a rotating device capable of making at least one of the inner rotor and the outer rotor rotate around the axes of rotation so as to change the relative phase between the rotors, wherein the rotating device includes: a first member which is integrally and rotatably provided with respect to the outer rotor; and a second member which is integrally and rotatably provided with respect to the inner rotor and which defines pressure chambers inside the inner rotor with the first member, and wherein a working fluid is supplied to the pressure chambers, thereby changing the relative phase between the rotors.

Motor

This electric motor is provided with an inner periphery side rotor, an outer periphery side rotor, and a rotating device that can change a relative phase between these rotors by rotating at least one of them about a rotational axis thereof. The rotating device is provided with a first member integrally and rotatably provided to the outer periphery side rotor, and a second member integrally fixed on an inside of the inner periphery side rotor which together with the first member defines a pressure chamber on the inside of the inner periphery side rotor. The rotating device changes a relative phase between the inner periphery side rotor and the outer periphery side rotor by supplying a hydraulic fluid to the pressure chamber. The rotating device is further provided with a linking passage that leaks the hydraulic fluid supplied to the pressure chamber to an outside of the pressure chamber.

In a hydraulic tensioner having a relief valve inside its plunger, a relief valve spring-receiving plug, press-fit into the plunger is formed by forging a plurality of flat surfaces on its exterior. These flat surfaces, in cooperation with the cylindrical inner wall of the plunger, form plural oil passages, each having a segment-shaped cross-section. The oil passages allow flow of oil past the plug to a discharge opening at the front end of the plunger, and the flow of oil is substantially unaffected by circumferential displacement of the oil passages on the periphery of the plug relative to the oil passages on the periphery of the relief valve seat.

Hydraulic tensioner with improved relief valve

A controller for a motor cleans, as necessary, a hydraulic chamber that generates hydraulic oil for changing a phase difference between two rotors so as to restrain sludge from building up in the hydraulic chamber. A motor has a first rotor and a second rotor that can be relatively rotated with respect to the first rotor. The controller includes a phase difference changing driver that changes the phase difference between the two rotors by controlling the pressure in the hydraulic chamber filled with hydraulic oil. The controller further includes a cleaning need determiner that determines the need for cleaning the hydraulic chamber, and a cleaning phase difference controller that controls the phase difference changing driver such that the second rotor is relatively rotated in the forward direction and the reverse direction alternately with respect to the first rotor if a determination result of the cleaning need determiner is affirmative.

An electric motor comprising an inner periphery side rotor provided with inner peripheral permanent magnets with unlike poles, which are disposed alternately along a circumferential direction of the inner periphery side rotor, an outer periphery side rotor provided with outer peripheral permanent magnets with unlike poles, which are disposed alternately along a circumferential direction of the outer periphery side rotor, and a rotating device that varies a relative phase between the inner periphery side rotor and the outer periphery side rotor by rotating at least the inner periphery side rotor or the outer periphery side rotor around the rotational axis. The outer peripheral side rotor is arranged such that a rotational axis thereof is coaxial with a rotational axis of the inner periphery side rotor. The rotating device sets a variable width of the relative phase between the inner periphery side rotor and the outer periphery side rotor within a range of an electrical angle of below 180&#xb0;.

A journal of a crankshaft is rotatably supported by a journal-supporting portion of a cylinder block and a bearing cap. An arcuate oil guide groove is defined in a side face of the bearing cap, and coils which are portions of a stator of a generator or motor are fitted into an oil guide groove. Oil flowing down from an oil return passage provided in the cylinder block and oil flowing down from a blow-by gas passage, flow downwards from an upper end of the oil guide groove and return through an opening to an oil pan. In this process, the oil is brought into contact with the coils to cool the stator. Therefore, even if the stator is located above the oil stored in the oil pan, the stator having a raised temperature can be cooled efficiently, to thereby prevent degradation of the performance of the generator or motor.

An internal combustion engine (E) includes a crankshaft ( ), and a bearing cap ( ) supporting the crankshaft ( ) for rotation. Gasket mounting surfaces of a cylinder block and a cylinder head which confront each other across a plate gasket G which is interposed therebetween are formed into flat surfaces, and a gap C is formed between these surfaces which is adapted to surround the plate gasket G at a distal end and a side edge thereof and has a depth corresponding to the thickness of the gasket G, whereby a part of a liquid packing P for sealing mating surfaces of the cylinder block , the cylinder head and a chain case is designed to be filled in this gap C.

There is provided a balance shaft housing (an upper housing U, a lower housing L) disposed in an oil pan ( ) for accommodating balance shafts ( L, R) provided with counterweights ( ) for canceling out a vibromotive force caused by pistons, characterized in that the housing comprises housings which are divided along a plane which is parallel with the balance shafts, and gaps ( ) are formed between edge surfaces of respective side walls of the divided housings which are brought into contact with the plane for discharging lubricating oil from the housing, and that eaves-like projecting portions ( ) are integrally formed on the upper housing ( U) of the divided housings for covering the surfaces confronting the gaps, whereby the eaves-like projecting portions help not only prevent lubricating oil from flowing into the housing but also enhance the rigidity of the housing.

According to this construction, since the thickness of the oil strainer attaching portion increases the rigidity of the bearing wall supporting the balance shafts, the increase in rigidity of the housing can be attained without increasing the thickness of the housing.

A hydraulic tensioner for use on an internal combustion engine provided with a timing mechanism including a wrapping connecting member extended in a timing mechanism chamber defined by an end wall of a cylinder block provided with a main gallery opening into the timing mechanism chamber, and a timing mechanism covering structure, to transmit the rotation of a crankshaft to a camshaft. The hydraulic tensioner exerts pressure to the wrapping connecting member in a direction substantially perpendicular to the running direction of the wrapping connecting member. The hydraulic tensioner comprises a shoe held in direct contact with the wrapping connecting member, and a hydraulic tensioning device for biasing the shoe toward the wrapping connecting member. The hydraulic tensioning device is disposed in the timing mechanism chamber so as to cover the open end of the main gallery. The timing mechanism covering structure has a timing mechanism cover provided with a handhole formed at a position corresponding to the hydraulic tensioning device.

In a balance shaft for engine balancing systems for canceling an unbalance force of an engine, a journal portion of the balance shaft is provided with a recess on a side remote from the gravitational center of the counter weight, and a rib extends axially across this recess along a radial plane between full circular axial end portions of the journal portion to compensate for the reduction in the bending rigidity of the balance shaft due to the provision of the recess. The recess reduces the weight or mass of the balance shaft, and this recess does not diminish the performance of the bearing because the bearing load is essentially due to the unbalanced mass of the counter weight portion, and the recessed part of the bearing portion receives a significantly smaller part of the bearing load than the opposite side of the bearing portion. The recessing also contributes to increasing the eccentricity of the gravitational center of the associated part.
