Provided is an alicyclic alcohol compound which can be used as a raw material for a compound perfume, and which has excellent floral-green-like aromas which are crisp and fresh; also provided are a manufacturing method for the same, and a perfume composition which contains the alicyclic alcohol compound. An alicyclic alcohol compound having a specified structure represented by chemical formula (1) has excellent floral-green-like aromas which are crisp and fresh; and a method for manufacturing the alicyclic alcohol compound represented by chemical formula (1) by reacting, in the presence of hydrogen fluoride, 1-isopropyl-4-methylcyclohexene and carbon monoxide, reacting the resulting 4-isopropyl-1-methylcyclohexane carboxylic acid fluoride with alcohol, and, after having acquired a cyclohexane carbonyl compound, reducing the cyclohexane carbonyl compound.

Provided is an alicyclic alcohol compound which can be used as a raw material for a compound perfume, and which has excellent floral-green-like aromas which are crisp and fresh; also provided are a manufacturing method for the same, and a perfume composition which contains the alicyclic alcohol compound. An alicyclic alcohol compound having a specified structure represented by chemical formula (1) has excellent floral-green-like aromas which are crisp and fresh; and a method for manufacturing the alicyclic alcohol compound represented by chemical formula (1) by reacting, in the presence of hydrogen fluoride, 4-isopropyl-1-methylcyclohexene and carbon monoxide, isomerizing the resulting 4-isopropyl-1-methylcyclohexane carboxylic acid fluoride, thus making 2-methyl-2-(4-methylcyclohexyl)-propionyl fluoride, reacting with alcohol and acquiring a cyclohexane carbonyl compound, and then reducing the cyclohexane carbonyl compound.

A novel musk-based fragrance having an excellent musky fragrance is provided. Also provided is a fragrance composition containing, as an active ingredient, a macrocyclic lactone compound represented by the following formula (1): wherein A represents an ethylene group or an ethenylene group; and when A is an ethylene group, R represents an alkyl group having 3 carbon atoms, and n represents an integer from 1 to 6, while when A is an ethenylene group, R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and n represents an integer from 1 to 6.

Provided is a fragrance composition containing 8- drimanol represented by the formula (Ia): and containing none of 7-acetyl-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydro- 1,1,6,7-tetramethylnaphthalene, 1,2,3,4,4a,5,6,7-octahydro- 2,5,5-trimethyl-2-naphthalenol, 1,2,3,4,4a,7,8,8a- octahydro-2,4a,5,8a-tetramethyl-l-naphthylformate, 3a-ethyldodecahydro-6, 6,9a-trimethylnaphtho[2,1-b]furan, and racemic and optically-active substance of dodecahydro- 3a,6,6,9a-tetramethylnaphtho[2,1-b]furan; and personal care products, household products and environmental hygiene products containing the composition. The fragrance composition of the present invention contains 8-drimanol (Ia) so that it can produce various novel odors and emit a odor with softness and warmth typical to natural ambergris.

The fragrance composition of the present invention is a highly versatile fragrance composition that, with the decalin alcohol, brings about an odor of natural ambergris with an odor quality that imparts the effects of warmth even when employed in a small amount.
