An engine cover of an outboard motor includes an upper cover and a lower cover that are vertically separable. A fixing belt capable of fixing the upper cover and the lower cover to each other is attached to the rear end of the engine cover. The upper cover includes a belt holding portion that holds the fixing belt. The belt holding portion includes a holding frame that forms a belt insertion hole. A head portion of the fixing belt includes a pair of contact portions that come into contact with upper surfaces of a pair of first frame portions of the holding frame.

Outboard motor

An outboard motor includes a trolling mode. The outboard motor includes an outboard motor body including a propeller and a drive source, a tiller handle body extending forward from the outboard motor body, a grip handle extending from a front end surface of the tiller handle body and configured to steer the outboard motor body via the tiller handle body, and a trolling switch attached to the tiller handle body and configured to adjust a trolling speed. An operation portion of the trolling switch is attached to a lower front end surface of the tiller handle body, the lower front end surface being located below the grip handle.

An engine for an outboard motor includes an oil filter. A first oil passage has a communication duct disposed at a position lower than that of the oil filter and communicating with a crank chamber. The communication duct is closed by a drain valve that can be opened and closed manually. Opening the drain valve allows the oil accumulated in the first oil passage to flow down into the crank chamber through the communication duct.

Engine for outboard motor

Exhaust passage system in an outboard engine unit includes: an engine-side exhaust pipe; a downstream exhaust pipe for directing exhaust gas downstream from the engine-side exhaust pipe, a lower end portion of the engine-side exhaust pipe and an upper end portion of the downstream exhaust pipe being positioned in horizontally parallel to each other and horizontally overlap each other so as to provide fluid communication therebetween via a through-hole formed in the overlapping portions of the end portions; and a vertical partition wall provided, in an upper end region of the overlapping portions for hampering back-flows of fluid.

Outboard engine unit

An outboard motor has an internal combustion engine with a carburetor. The carburetor is designed to extend maintenance interval greatly by preventing or suppressing the deposition of solid matters in the gap between the intake passage and a butterfly-type throttle valve therein. The throttle valve is divided, by a valve axis about which the throttle valve turns, into a first valve part that turns from the downstream side to the upstream side with respect to an air intake direction when the fully closed throttle valve is opened and a second valve part that turns from the upstream side to the downstream side with respect to the air intake direction when the fully closed throttle valve is opened. The first valve part has an edge that moves to the upstream side past bypass ports when the fully closed throttle valve is opened, and the second valve part is provided with a through hole that allows air to flow therethrough at a flow rate necessary for idling when the throttle valve is fully closed.

Outboard motor equipped with internal combustion engine with carburetor

Gaskets are placed in joints between adjacent nonferrous metal engine members of a water-cooled engine for an outboard motor, such as a cylinder block, a cylinder head, a crankcase, a mount case and an oil pan, to seal the joints. Each of the gaskets has a base member formed of a stainless steel. The surfaces of the base member are coated with electrochemical corrosion preventing films formed by applying a liquid containing flakes of an aluminum alloy or a zinc alloy and a silicate resin in films and baking the films of the liquid. The electrochemical corrosion preventing films are coated with sealing films formed by applying a liquid containing aluminum flakes and a silicate resin to the electrochemical corrosion preventing films and baking the films of the liquid. The gaskets are prevented from electrochemically corroding despite potential difference between each gasket and the adjacent engine members.

Gasket for water-cooled engine for outboard motor

An engine intake manifold is provided that can prevent fuel loss by promptly supplying to an engine the fuel that has collected on the base within an intake air distribution box. The engine intake manifold includes an intake air distribution box having an intake inlet, and a plurality of intake branch pipes made of a synthetic resin that are provided in a vertical arrangement connected to a side wall of the intake air distribution box with downstream ends connected to a plurality of corresponding intake ports of the engine. A funnel is formed at the upstream end of each of the intake branch pipes disposed within the intake air distribution box. A fuel collector recess is formed on the base of the intake air distribution box. A fuel draw-up hole communicating with the recess, is provided in a side wall of the lowest funnel.

Engine intake manifold

In an intake manifold of an internal combustion chamber comprising a surge tank assembly and intake pipe assembly, a seal member is interposed between the end surface of the intake pipe assembly and the mating surface of the surge tank assembly so as to seal off the intake passage and mounting holes individually. Thus, the seal member, combined with the use of the blind threaded holes for the threaded bolts joining the two parts, ensures the sealing of both the intake passages and mounting holes at the interface between the end surface of the intake pipe and the mating surface of the surge tank assembly in a both reliable and simple manner. Preferably, the seal member comprises an O-ring made of elastomeric material, and at least one of the mating surface and end surface is provided with a groove for receiving the seal member.

Sealing arrangement for an intake manifold of an internal combustion engine

An outboard motor is provided which includes, in an engine compartment defined by an engine hood, an engine, an intake manifold including a plurality of intake branch pipes connected to a plurality of intake ports of the engine, and a throttle body connected to an intake inlet of the intake manifold. A negative pressure detection hole that opens within the intake manifold, is provided in the outer wall of the intake manifold, and a negative intake pressure sensor that is fixed to the outer wall is positioned in the negative pressure detection hole.

An intake system in a V-type 4-stroke engine for an outboard engine system is provided. A crankshaft of the engine is disposed vertically, and heads of left and right banks are disposed to face rearwards. The engine is covered with an engine hood. In the intake system, an intake air inlet is provided in an upper portion of a longitudinally flat intake air dispensing box disposed between the left and right banks and a rear wall of the engine hood, and leads to an intake passageway in a throttle body. The inside of the intake air dispensing box is divided by a partition wall into first and second dispensing chambers communicating with the intake air inlet and extending longitudinally. An on-off valve is mounted on the partition wall and is capable of bringing the first and second dispensing chambers into and out of communication with each other. Intake ports are provided in the left and right banks to communicate with the first and second dispensing chambers, respectively. Thus, it is possible to provide an intake system for a V-type 4-stroke engine in an outboard engine system, in which the air-charging characteristic can be changed in accordance with the operation state of the engine, while avoiding an increase in size of the engine hood.

A memory cell array configured using static memory cells is provided with pre-amplifiers each of which receives a signal of a memory cell, which is read into each complementary bit line pair, and a main amplifier which receives a signal outputted from each of the pre-amplifiers. The number of the plurality of memory cells connected to the complementary bit lines is restricted in such a manner that the amplitude of the signal read into each complementary bit line pair, which is supplied to the input of the pre-amplifier, becomes greater than that of a signal outputted from the pre-amplifier during a period of from the selection of a word line to the start of the operation of the main amplifier.

An engine for an outboard engine assembly includes a cylinder block with at least one horizontal cylinder defined therein, an oil pan disposed downwardly of the cylinder block, a cylinder head coupled to the cylinder block, and a head cover coupled to the cylinder head. The engine assembly also includes a valve operating mechanism chamber defined jointly between the cylinder head and the head cover, a lubricating oil supply passageway for supplying lubricating oil from the oil pan to at least the valve operating mechanism chamber, and a lubricating oil return passageway for returning lubricating oil from at least the valve operating mechanism chamber to the oil pan. The lubricating oil return passageway has openings for introducing lubricating oil from the valve operating mechanism chamber. The openings are defined in inner surfaces, respectively, of the cylinder head and the head cover which face a bottom of the valve operating mechanism chamber.
