A control device for controlling a rotary electrical machine functioning as a motor and as a power generator, the device being provided with a power conversion circuit serving to function as an inverter for supplying a drive current from a battery to the rotary electrical machine and as a rectifier for rectifying the power generation output of the rotary electrical machine and supplying the output to the battery; and being provided with a controller for controlling the conversion circuit so that three-phase armature coils of the rotary electrical machine are short-circuited when the battery is disconnected from the conversion circuit and the DC output voltage of the conversion circuit becomes excessive, after which, when the DC output voltage of the conversion circuit decreases to a set low voltage, the short circuit of one phase of the armature coil is released and only two phases are short-circuited.

An onboard electric power control device which comprises a power unit, a control unit and a power source unit, in which: an opening portion of a case containing components of the power unit and an opening portion of a case containing components of the control unit are abutted so as to be coupled; a case of the power supply unit is fitted to an opening portion being provided on a side surface of the case of the power unit so that the both cases are coupled; the power unit and the control unit is connected by a flexible connecting conductor; and the connecting conductor is folded and is contained between a resin molded portion formed inside of the case of the power unit and a resin molded portion formed inside of the case of the control unit.

An engine starting method for starting an engine by causing first fuel injection when a crankshaft is reversely rotated by a predetermined angle at the start, and then rotating the crankshaft forward to perform first ignition, the method comprising the steps of immediately stopping driving of a starter motor when a starter switch is turned off before the first fuel injection at the start; and continuously driving the starter motor forward until a cylinder into which an air/fuel mixture is supplied by the first fuel injection performs at least one exhaust stroke and then stopping the driving of the starter motor when the starter switch is turned off after the first fuel injection at the start.

A control device for a marine engine comprised so that a section of an angle sufficiently narrower than a crank angle corresponding to each stroke of a combustion cycle of the engine is set as an instantaneous speed detection section, a crank angle position that appears every time the engine rotates in the instantaneous speed detection section is detected as a specific crank angle position, an instantaneous rotational speed of the engine is detected every time each specific crank angle position is detected, it is determined whether the engine needs to be assisted from the degree of reduction in the instantaneous rotational speed, and a motor-generator including a rotor directly connected to a crankshaft of the engine is driven to apply a drive force from the motor-generator to the engine when it is determined that the engine needs to be assisted.

A control device for a power trim unit for an outboard engine includes: a circuit that supplies a driving current to a power trim motor of the outboard engine from a DC power supply through an overcurrent protection switch and an H bridge circuit comprised of semiconductor switches; a trim angle control portion that performs control to cause a trim angle to reach a target value by performing PWM control of the driving current supplied from the DC power supply through the H bridge circuit to the power trim motor according to a deviation between the target value of the trim angle of the outboard engine and a trim angle detected by a trim angle sensor; and an overcurrent protection portion that turns off the overcurrent protection switch when overcurrent flows through the H bridge circuit.

An engine driven vehicle having a function of supplying power to an external load from a generator driven by an engine that is operated in a power generation mode while the vehicle is stopped, including: throttle position determination means for determining whether a throttle valve is placed closer to an acceleration side than a normal position in the power generation mode while the engine is operated in the power generation mode; and safety engine control means for conducting a control to prevent the engine from being operated at a higher speed than a set speed limit when the determination means determines that the throttle valve is placed closer to the acceleration side than the normal position in the power generation mode.
