The present invention provides a semi-transmissive liquid crystal display device that presents excellent display quality in the reflective display, and that can be easily applied to high definition. The liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a first substrate, a liquid crystal layer, and a second substrate, in this order. The first substrate has pixel electrodes having a structure composed of a trunk portion and a plurality of branch portions that branch off from the trunk portion.
