A double sump oil pan includes a separator made of plastic that partitions the interior of the oil pan into an inner sump and an outer sump, a plate, and an elastically deformable sealing member attached to the plate. The sealing member closely contacts the inner wall of the oil pan and seals the outer sump. The plate and the separator are fixed to each other.

Oil pan

In an oil pan inner tank valve structure, a disc-shaped float valve is arranged below a valve port that provides fluid communication between the inside and outside of a bottom wall of an inner tank, and a lower cover is arranged below the float valve. In addition, a center recess is depressed at a lower surface center of the float valve, and a lateral movement restricting pin is upright from the lower cover and is constantly engaged with the center recess by recess/protrusion engagement. The lower cover restricts a vertically movable range of the float valve. In addition, the lateral movement restricting pin restricts lateral movement of the float valve so that a top portion of an upper surface bulged portion vertically constantly faces an area inside a valve seat.

Oil pan inner tank valve structure

A metal gasketincludes a pair of bead platesandhaving a cylinder holecorresponding to a cylinder bore, a full beadsurrounding the cylinder hole, a first intermediate plateinterposed between the pair of bead plates, and a shim plateinterposed between the first intermediate plate and one bead plate in an area around the cylinder hole. The shim plateis disposed to overlap with the full bead, and the thickness of a contact portionto contact with the shim plateof the first intermediate plate changes in the peripheral direction of the cylinder hole.

Metal gasket

A cylinder head gasketis sandwiched between a cylinder headand a cylinder blockwith a cylinder boreand includes a substratewith a combustion chamber holedrilled at a position of the cylinder bore, and seal platesto, the substrateand the seal plates are stacked on one another. Fixation membersandare secured to the substrate around a periphery of the combustion chamber hole. The seal plates include an engagement holeformed therein and with which the fixation members are engaged. The engagement hole is engaged with the fixation members. The fixation members are sandwiched between the cylinder head and the cylinder block. The cylinder head and the cylinder block can be firmly coupled together via the fixation members.

Cylinder head gasket

A cylinder head gaskethas gasket base platesandincluding: combustion chamber holes; a water holeformed in a manner adjusted to the position of a cooling liquid pathformed in a cylinder block; and full beadsandsurrounding the combustion chamber holes. Neighboring full beads are formed at locations distant from each other. Furthermore, two coupling beadsandare provided at locations having disposed therebetween a centerline connecting the centers of the neighboring combustion chamber holes, and the two coupling beadsandbranch out from one full bead and join the other full bead and protrude in the same direction as the full beads. The water hole is disposed outside an area surrounded by the full beads and the coupling beads.

A composite member, which is formed by integrating an OCV housingand a cylinder head cover, is fixed to a cam capby a bolt. The boltis passed through a bolt insertion holeof the composite memberand fastened to the cam cap. A step portionis formed in a shankbetween a headand a threaded rodof the bolt. A circumferential grooveis formed in the shankbetween the step portionand the headof the bolt. The circumferential grooveextends along the outer circumferential surface of the shank. An annular sealing memberis fitted in the groove. The threaded rodof the boltis then screwed into the internal threadof the cam cap, which is a coupled member. At this time, the step portionof the boltcontacts a contacting portionin the bolt insertion holeof the OCV housing. Also, the sealing membercontacts the inner circumferential surface of the bolt insertion holeof the cylinder head cover

Composite member fixing structure

A cylinder head cover is formed by a synthetic resin outer shell, which is molded by inserting a metal valve case, which holds a oil control valve, in a mold. The valve case has a bolt fastening portion for fastening the valve case, together with the outer shell, to the cam cap. The valve fastening portion has a bolt insertion hole. The bolt fastening portion also has a flange that extends radially outward. The flange has through holes. The flange is embedded in the outer shell, and synthetic resin forming the outer shell fills the through holes.

Cylinder head cover

A cylinder head gasket includes a first gasket base plate at a cylinder head side, a second gasket base plate at a cylinder block side, a shim that adjusts the gasket thickness, and a pressure increasing plate that increases the surface pressure at the side of periphery portions of the cylinders. In the first and second gasket base plates full beads are swollen at the side of periphery portions of cylinders, and half beads are swollen at a site outward of the full beads. The full beads of the first and second gasket base plates are formed so that top portions of the full beads face each other at positions that are opposite to each other in the up-down direction. The shim and the pressure increasing plate are sandwiched between the top portions.

A tubular valve casing formed of metal is molded with an outer shell portion formed of synthetic resin. A valve body is inserted into the valve casing through an opening formed at an end of the valve casing and incorporated in the valve casing. An annular projection is formed in the outer shell portion and projects toward the end surface of the valve casing corresponding to the opening. A seal ring is arranged between the projection and the valve body.

A valve case, which is a metal component, and an outer shell portion of a cylinder head cover, which is a resin component, are joined together through a seal material. First, a recess formed in the valve case is filled with a seal material in a liquid form. A skin layer is then formed by curing the surface of the seal material. Subsequently, the outer shell portion is formed by supplying a synthetic resin material onto the valve case in such a manner as to cover the skin layer, which is provided on the surface of a non-cured portion of the seal material. At this stage, the skin layer is broken by supply pressure of the synthetic resin material and thus the synthetic resin material and the non-cured portion of the seal material are joined together as an integral body.

Method for joining first and second members to each other through a joint material

The thickness of an intermediate plate portion () is smaller than the thickness of a stopper portion (). The thickness of a portion of a cylinder head gasket () having the stopper portion () is set to be greater than the thickness of other portions of the cylinder head gasket (). Before the cylinder head gasket () is provided between contact surfaces (), a space (S) is formed between the stopper portion () and an adjustment stopper portion (), and the intermediate plate portion () partially contacts the adjustment plate portion, and a bead () contacts the adjustment plate portion ().

Cylinder head gasket and engine

A sleeve allows insertion of an oil control valve, and is used by being inserted to an installation hole provided in a cylinder head cover. An outer surface of a sleeve main body of the sleeve is covered by a rubber-like elastic body layer. The rubber-like elastic body layer has a protrusion provided in the periphery of an oil hole provided in the sleeve main body in such a manner as to surround the oil hole. In accordance with the sleeve, it is possible to install the oil control valve to the cylinder head cover at a high oil tightness.

Sleeve and cylinder head cover

A cylinder head gasket for an internal combustion engine with a cylinder bore and a fluid hole includes a first metal plate having a curved portion around the cylinder bore and a folded portion extending from the curved portion, and a second metal plate laminated on the first metal plate and having a first full bead projecting toward the first metal plate. The first full bead is disposed on the folded portion. At least one secondary plate is inserted inside the folded portion.

A cylinder head cover covers a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine. The engine has a variable valve actuation mechanism and a control valve for controlling supply and drainage of hydraulic oil to and from the variable valve actuation mechanism. The cylinder head cover includes a cover main body fixed to the cylinder head and a valve case to which the control valve is attached. The valve case is caused to contact a side of the cover main body that corresponds to the cylinder head. Therefore, the cylinder head cover maintains a firm attachment of the valve case to the cylinder head.

Cylinder head cover and method for mounting cylinder head cover to cylinder head

A stay for keeping an oil control valve fastened to a sleeve extends across the outer surface of a head cover from the oil control valve and is fixed by a screw. Thus, the OCV is removable from the sleeve without dismounting the head cover from the cylinder head by loosening the screw from the outside of the head cover and detaching the stay.
