A welding method wherein the root gap aperture displacement is measured before welding begins, and a welding material having a Mn/S ratio and a Mn/Si ratio compatible with the measured root gap aperture displacement is selected from gas-shielded arc welding materials. Gas-shielded arc welding is then performed using the selected welding material.

Welding method

A liquid crystal display including first and second substrates arranged opposite to each other to form a gap, with first and second alignment films provided on the first and second substrates, respectively. A cured material is provided on at least one of the first and second alignment films, and a liquid crystal layer of liquid crystal molecules is provided in the gap. The display includes a pixel electrode with a plurality of elongated members arranged with spaces therebetween, wherein the plurality of elongated members are electrically connected to each other, and a common electrode configured to apply a voltage to the liquid crystal layer in cooperation with the pixel electrode. The plurality of elongated members include first, second, third and fourth elongated members extending, respectively, in first, second, third and fourth directions in plan view. The cured material regulates alignment directions of the liquid crystal molecules.

Liquid crystal display

A liquid crystal display has a pair of substrates with liquid crystal sealed between them. A polymer layer regulates directions in which the liquid crystal molecules tilt. A plurality of gate bus lines and a plurality of drain bus lines are provided on one of the substrates. Color filters and a pixel electrode are provided on the substrate. The pixel electrode includes a first sub-pixel electrode and a second sub-pixel electrode. A common electrode is provided on the other substrate. A first and a second thin film transistor are connected to the first sub-pixel electrode. The first thin film transistors is connected to a first gate bus line, and the second thin film transistor is connected to a second bus line.

A liquid crystal display including a pair of substrates arranged opposite to each other to form a gap; spaced vertical alignment films formed on the substrate in the gap; a cured material formed on at least one of the alignment films in the gap; and a liquid crystal layer of liquid crystal molecules. The display also includes a pixel electrode formed on one of the substrates in a pixel region and having either a plurality of elongated members arranged with spaces therebetween and connected by a connecting member or a plurality of elongated openings arranged in patterns. Finally, the cured material is at least formed on the vertical alignment films so that an alignment direction of at least the liquid crystal molecules adjacent the alignment films is regulated.

This invention relates to an image processing method for improving the quality of an image to be displayed on a display device and to a liquid-crystal display device using the same, and aims at providing an image processing method for providing wide viewing angle and excellent tonal-intensity viewing angle characteristic and a liquid-crystal display device using the same. Combined together are a higher-luminance pixel to be driven higher in luminance than the luminance data of an image to be displayed and a lower-luminance pixel to be driven lower in luminance than the luminance data, to determine a luminance on the higher-luminance pixel and luminance on the lower-luminance pixel as well as an area ratio of the higher-luminance and lower-luminance pixels in a manner obtaining a luminance nearly equal to a desired luminance based on the luminance data.

Image processing method and liquid-crystal display device using the same

A liquid crystal display capable of improving its viewing angle characteristic of luminance is provided. The liquid crystal display includes: a pair of signal lines extending so as to intersect to each other; a pixel provided for the pair of signal lines and configured of a plurality of sub pixels, each sub pixel including a liquid crystal element and a capacitive element; a driving element provided for each of the plurality of sub pixels so as to be connected to a corresponding pair of signal lines assigned to the pixel, and performs display driving by applying a voltage to the liquid crystal element based on a video signal; and a capacitance line provided for each of the plurality of sub pixels so as to be connected to one end of the capacitive element.

Liquid crystal display and method of manufacturing the same

A digital broadcast transmission device generates channel combination information associating a plurality of physical channels. The digital broadcast transmission device divides a bit stream into a plurality of bit streams, the bit stream including program-related information having added thereto channel combination information, and transmits the divided bit streams on the plurality of physical channels, respectively. A digital broadcast reception device selects the plurality of physical channels using a plurality of front ends based on the channel combination information, and demodulates broadcast waves received on the plurality of physical channels, respectively. The digital broadcast reception device combines bit streams obtained from the demodulation, and outputs the combined bit stream. The digital broadcast reception device also simultaneously transmits a light bit stream on a different single physical channel, the light bit stream being a bit stream smaller in amount of information than the combined bit stream.

A liquid crystal display device includes a pair of substrates provided opposite to each other, a common electrode provided on one of the pair of substrates, and a pixel electrode provided on the other of the pair of substrates. A vertical alignment type liquid crystal is sealed between the pair of substrates. An alignment film is polymerizable upon irradiation of UV, and is obtained by polymerizing substantially the entire alignment film with a voltage applied between the electrodes after the liquid crystal is sealed between the substrates. A pixel region has areas whose electro-optical characteristics are different from each other because of a difference between applied voltages at the time of polymerization.

A liquid crystal display including a pair of substrates; a liquid crystal sealed between the substrates; alignment regulating structures formed on at least one of the substrates; and a plurality of pixel regions having both of a first area in which the alignment regulating structures are disposed at first intervals and which has a first threshold voltage for driving of the liquid crystal and a second area in which the alignment regulating structures are disposed at second intervals smaller than the first intervals and which has a second threshold voltage lower than the first threshold voltage. Each of the first intervals is a distance between adjacent alignment regulating structures along a direction parallel to one of the substrates in the first area and each of the second intervals is a distance between adjacent alignment regulating structures along a direction parallel to one of the substrates in the second area.

The invention relates to a liquid crystal display device used for a display part of an information equipment and a driving method thereof, and has an object to provide a liquid crystal display device in which excellent viewing angle characteristics can be obtained and a driving method thereof. When a relatively high level data voltage is applied to a gate electrode of a TFT, a driving voltage is applied to a liquid crystal layer for a long time and a white display is realized. When a relatively low level data voltage is applied to the gate electrode of the TFT, the driving voltage is not applied to the liquid crystal layer, and a black display is realized. When an intermediate data voltage between the high level and the low level is applied to the gate electrode of the TFT, the TFT keeps an on state for a time determined by a time constant depending on a capacitance and a resistance. The driving voltage is applied to the liquid crystal layer for the on time. By this, a half tone display is realized according to the ratio of the on time of the TFT in one frame period.

Liquid crystal display device and driving method of the same

The liquid crystal display comprises a first substrate including a first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode, a second substrate with an opposed electrode formed on, and a liquid crystal layer sealed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The thickness dof the liquid crystal layer on the first pixel electrode in the first pixel region is larger than the thickness dof the liquid crystal layer on the second pixel electrode in the second pixel region. The first pixel region includes a first partial region and a second partial region where the threshold voltage is higher than in the first partial region. The second pixel region includes a third partial region and a fourth partial region where the threshold voltage is higher than in the third partial region. The threshold voltage in the first partial region and the threshold voltage in the third partial region are equal to each other, and the threshold voltage in the second partial region and the threshold voltage in the fourth partial region are equal to each other. Thus, it is possible to prevent large changes in the chromaticity due to gradation and visual angle changes, which lead to the prevention of the occurrence of the coloring. Thus, it is possible to provide a liquid crystal display having good display quality.

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display including a liquid crystal display panel and a drive section performing divisional drive operation which includes first and second drive operations. The first drive operation performs a driving process with a first drive voltage higher than an original application voltage, and the second drive operation performs a driving process with a second drive voltage lower than the original application voltage. The liquid crystal display panel includes one or more pixel electrodes each having a plurality of slits, and one or more alignment control electrodes provided in one or more regions corresponding to one or more of the slits of the pixel electrode. The alignment control electrode configures a capacitive element in cooperation with the pixel electrode. Electric potential of the pixel electrode is lower than that of the alignment control electrode.

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display device used as a display part of an electronic apparatus which exhibits high brightness and favorable display quality. The liquid crystal display device includes a pair of substrates which are arranged to face each other in an opposed manner; vertical-alignment type liquid crystal which is sealed between the pair of substrates; a plurality of pixel regions, each pixel region including a sub pixel having a pixel electrode on one substrate and a sub pixel having a pixel electrode on one substrate, a slit formed between the pixel electrodes; and a singular point control part which includes projecting portions which are formed on end portions of the pixel electrodes on the slit-side and controls singular points of the liquid crystal.

Liquid crystal display device

Disclosed herein is a liquid crystal display device. The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate; a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer; a first electrode part; and a second electrode part. The first electrode part includes a pixel electrode formed in the pixel area and a peripheral electrode formed in the peripheral area. The second electrode part includes a pixel electrode part formed in the pixel area and a peripheral electrode formed in the peripheral area. The peripheral electrode of at least one of the first electrode part and the second electrode part is formed by a plurality of electrodes adjacent to each other. Voltage values of driving voltages applied to the respective electrodes adjacent to each other of the peripheral electrode are different from each other.
