A vehicle includes a regenerative brake of a rotating electric machine and a friction brake which is a mechanical brake as braking means for applying a braking force to rotations of the left and right wheels at the front and rear of the vehicle. The vehicle also includes an SOC information obtaining part that obtains an amount of charge (SOC) of a battery of the vehicle and an ECU. The ECU may include a VSA modulator and an ACC-ECU that generate, without a braking operation of the driver, a regenerative braking force with the regenerative brake and a friction braking force with the friction brake. The ECU prohibits an operation of the VSA modulator and/or an operation of the ACC-ECU according to a temperature of the friction brake and the amount of charge (SOC) of the battery.

A vehicle brake system includes a control system capable of determining whether an automatic transmission is set in a driving mode or in a non-driving mode, and is capable of operating the braking force holding function for keeping the vehicle stationary by holding a braking force generated through a brake pedal operation. Further, the control system operates the braking force holding function when a vehicle speed becomes lower than a predetermined threshold value by the braking force generated through the brake pedal operation, and if the control system determines that the automatic transmission is set in a non-driving mode, the control unit increases the braking force and holds the braking force.

A turning motion control system for a vehicle includes an actuator, and an actuator control device for controlling the actuator so that an actual turning motion state of the vehicle becomes close to a target turning motion state. The actuator control device is designed so that its control-permitted state and its control-stopped state can be switched from one to another through a switching device operated by a driver. When an air-pressure decreased state detecting device has detected an air-pressure decreased state, the actuator control device carries out the control of the operation of the actuator, irrespective of a switching mode of the switching device. Thus, even if an air-pressure decrease or an abnormality is generated in any of wheels in a state in which the turning motion control by the actuator has been stopped, the stability of the vehicle can be ensured.

Turning motion control system for vehicle

A brake system for a vehicle includes a liquid pressure generating device for generating a liquid pressure dependent upon a manual operation, actuators having output ports for outputting a liquid pressure dependent upon an electrical command signal from a controller, and which are adapted to be connected to a reservoir when the actuators are non-operative, and switchover valves switchable between a state in which wheel brakes are connected to the liquid pressure generating device, and a state in which the wheel brakes are connected to the actuators. A brake system for a vehicle includes a master cylinder for outputting a liquid pressure corresponding to a braking operation quantity, an electric actuator capable of outputting the liquid pressure corresponding to the braking operation quantity, and a switch-over valve capable of switching the connection and disconnection between the master cylinder and wheel brake. The electric actuator is connected to the wheel brake to block the back flow of a working liquid from the wheel brake. Braking pressure applied to the wheel brake is detected by pressure detector. When a difference between the detected braking pressure and a target braking pressure corresponding to the braking operation quantity exceeds a predetermined range, an output liquid pressure from the master cylinder is applied to the wheel brake. Thus, even if a trouble is produced in the electric actuator, itself, or a drive circuit for driving the electric actuators, the braking pressure for the wheel brake is prevented from being reduced undesirably.

A braking force control system of a vehicle, capable of independently controlling at least braking forces of front wheel brakes, a braking force of a left rear wheel brake and a braking force of a right rear wheel brake. The braking force control system includes front wheel-side controls for controlling the braking forces of the front wheel brakes on the basis of a quantity of operation of a brake operating member and a deceleration of the vehicle, and rear wheel-side controls for independently controlling the braking forces of the left rear wheel brake and the right rear wheel brake on the basis of a turning level of the vehicle. Thus, it is possible to provide a sufficient braking force, while stabilizing the behavior of the vehicle, during braking in a turning state of the vehicle, by conducting a control of deceleration for the front wheels increased in load during braking, and by conducting a control of turning for the rear wheels largely contributing to the control of turning.

An anti-lock control method for a vehicle includes the steps of: calculating an operation control quantity on the basis of a braking pressure at the start of an anti-lock control when a wheel is about to be locked during braking, and controlling the operation of an actuator, capable of adjusting the braking force of a wheel brake by the operation control quantity in order to reduce the braking force. In this process, the braking pressure at the start of anti-lock control is corrected with the locking tendency of the wheel to set an adjusted reference braking pressure, and the operation control quantity is calculated on the basis of the adjusted reference braking pressure. Thus, it is possible to determine the reference braking pressure with good accuracy, leading to an enhanced accuracy of the anti-lock control.

Anti-lock control method for vehicle

A braking force control system of a vehicle includes a deviation reference control quantity determining device for determining an operation control quantity for the actuator on the basis of a deviation between a target deceleration determined on the basis of a quantity of operation of a brake operating member and a detected deceleration of the vehicle. In this control system, the level of operation speed is judged in accordance with whether or not the variation per unit time in quantity of operation of the brake operating member exceeds a preset value. Following two states are switched over from one to another by a switch device: a state 1) in which the operation of the actuator is controlled with an operation control quantity determined in the deviation reference control quantity determining device, when it is decided that the operation speed is slow or low, and a state 2) in which the operation of the actuator is controlled with an operation control quantity determined in an operation quantity reference quantity determining device for determining the operation control quantity on the basis of the quantity of operation of the brake operating member, when the operation speed is fast or high. Thus, the generation of an overshooting can be avoided to improve the responsiveness.

A hydraulic braking pressure control system for a vehicle comprises a master cylinder (M) operatively connected to a brake pedal (P), an operation-amount detector (S) for detecting the amount by which the brake pedal is operated, a hydraulic pressure control unit (2.sub.FL etc.) for controlling the hydraulic pressure to be applied to a brake device (B.sub.FL etc.) mounted on a wheel in accordance with an applied quantity of electricity, and a control circuit (3) for controlling the quantity of electricity to be applied to the hydraulic pressure control unit, in accordance with a detection value provided by the operation-amount detector. The system further includes a cut-off valve (30.sub.FL etc.) adapted to be closed in response to depression of the brake pedal, and a reservoir (R.sub.2) connected through the cut-off valve to an oil passage (27) connecting the hydraulic pressure control unit and the brake device. The cut-off valve is opened when the brake pedal is not depressed, and even if a hydraulic pressure is delivered from the hydraulic pressure control unit when there is no braking operation, such hydraulic pressure can be released into the reservoir, ensuring that any such hydraulic pressure is prevented from being applied to the brake device.

Hydraulic braking pressure control system for vehicle

A hydraulic braking pressure control system includes a shut-off valve (4) which is provided in an oil passage (58) connecting a brake device with an output port in a master cylinder and which is brought into a closed state by a control circuit when a braking operation is detected by an operation-amount detector, and a locking device (5) for inhibiting the closing of the shut-off valve when the output hydraulic pressure from a hydraulic pressure supply source in equal to or less than a predetermined value. The shut-off valve is opened when there is no braking operation, thereby ensuring that even if a hydraulic pressure is delivered from a hydraulic pressure control valve when there is no braking operation, such hydraulic pressure can be released into a reservoir. In addition, if the hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic pressure supply source is abnormally reduced, that shut-off valve is locked in its opened state by the locking device to ensure that the output hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder can be applied to the brake device.

A fluid pressure booster device includes a booster body, a control piston in the booster body for forward and rearward movements to define a boosting chamber between the control piston and a rear surface of a master piston of a master cylinder, a valve piston in the control piston for forward and rearward movements and communicating at its front face with the boosting chamber, a reaction piston in the control piston for forward and rearward movements and connected to an operating member, the reaction piston defining a reaction chamber between itself and a rear face of the valve piston, a stroke accumulator having an accumulation chamber connected to the reaction chamber, an inlet valve disposed between the control piston and the valve piston and interposed in a flow passage extending between the boosting chamber and a fluid pressure source, the inlet valve being closed when the valve piston is retracted and opening when the valve piston advances, and an outlet valve disposed between the control piston and the valve piston so as to open when the valve piston is retracted and to be closed when the valve piston advances. This enables a fluid pressure to be applied to the master cylinder in response to the motion of the operating member within a restricted stroke range.

A hydraulic booster for a master cylinder in which an inlet valve is interposed between an output pressure chamber at the back of the booster piston and an input pressure chamber connected to a pressure source. Advance of the valve piston opens the inlet valve. An outlet valve between the output chamber and an outlet chamber connected to an oil tank closes at advance of the valve piston relative to the booster piston. The booster chamber is exposed to a rear of a master cylinder operation piston. The valve piston oil feed passage connects input pressure chamber with booster chamber at opening of the outlet valve. The reaction chamber at the front surface of the booster piston is reduced in volume with the advancing movement and is connected to an accumulator making it possible to smooth initial operation of the master cylinder and reduce booster system size.
