An article sorting control apparatus includes a memory, a processor, and a communication interface. The memory stores sorting destination management information including reference conveyance route information, fixed sorting destination information, and dynamic sorting destination information. The processor selects a first diverging control signal or a second diverging control signal. The communication interface transmits the first or the second diverging control signal to an article sorting apparatus.

An article sorting apparatus includes a conveying path, a conveyer cell, a loading section, a sorting section and a control device. The conveyer cell includes a belt, a projecting portion and an actuator. The belt forms a setting surface on which an article is set. The projecting portion projects from a surface of the belt. The actuator drives the belt. The conveyer cell moves on the conveying path in a first conveying direction and conveys the article set on the setting surface in a second conveying direction orthogonal to the first conveying direction. The loading section transfers the article to the conveyer cell. The control device, when a size of the article is smaller than a predetermined size and when the loading section transfers the article to the setting surface, controls the actuator to drive the belt such that the projecting portion contacts a lower surface of the article.

According to one embodiment, an article sorting apparatus includes a conveyance path extending in a first conveyance direction, the conveyance path having a curve; a conveyance unit that moves along the conveyance path and conveys an article loaded on the conveyance unit in a second conveyance direction that intersects the first conveyance direction of the conveyance path; a loading portion that loads the article onto the conveyance unit; a sorting portion that sorts the article conveyed by the conveyance unit; and a controller that controls movement of the conveyance unit in the first conveyance direction and conveyance of the article in the second conveyance direction and controls the conveyance unit before entry of the conveyance unit into the curve such that if the curve has a curvature radius that is less than a predetermined threshold value, the position of the article on a load surface of the conveyance unit on which the article is placed is adjusted to a position that is offset from a middle position on the load surface to an inward side with respect to a radial direction of the curve.

A sheet loading and handling apparatus that suppress anomalies in sheet supply operation and feed sheets in a stable manner is disclosed. The sheet loading unit includes a supply mechanism that moves a plurality of stacked sheets in a direction toward a feeding position located at an end of the loading unit, a feeding mechanism that individually feeds sheets to the feeding position, and a control unit controlling a plurality of sensors, which detect whether there is a sheet at the feeding position. The supply mechanism operates based on detection information of the sensors. The control unit monitors a relationship between signal information of the optical sensor and that of another sensor, and if a signal relationship that is not normal as compared to that of normal feeding occurs, the unit retracts the signal information of the optical sensor and uses only the signal information of the other sensor.

According to one embodiment, a pick up device for paper sheets includes an input unit configured to support a plurality of paper sheets in a stacked manner, a supply mechanism configured to move the placed paper sheets in a stacking direction and supply each paper sheet to an pick up position, a pick up mechanism configured to pick up the paper sheet at the pick up position from the input unit one by one, and a control unit configured to determine a supply speed or a feed amount of the paper sheets by the supply mechanism in accordance with thickness information per unit time of the picked up paper sheets obtained from a thickness detector, and configured to determine whether the supply mechanism is to be operated or stopped based on density information of the paper sheets obtained from a paper sheet sensor.

A sheets processing apparatus includes a first processing portion having a first switchback portion for reversing the conveying direction of postal matter branched and conveyed from a main conveying path and a first U-turn path for reversing the front and back of the postal matter and a second processing portion having a second U-turn path for reversing the front and back of the postal matter branched and conveyed from the main conveying path and a second switchback portion for reversing the conveying direction of the postal matter. The first switchback portion is arranged inside the second U-turn path and the second switchback portion is arranged inside the first U-turn path.
