Provided are a substrate for a superconducting compound and a method for manufacturing the substrate which can realize the excellent adhesive strength simultaneously with high orientation of copper. An absorbed material on a surface of a copper foil to which rolling is applied at a draft of 90% or more is removed by applying sputter etching to the surface of the copper foil, sputter etching is applied to a nonmagnetic metal sheet, the copper foil and the metal sheet are bonded to each other by applying a pressure to the copper foil and the metal sheet using reduction rolls, crystals of the copper in the copper foil are oriented by heating a laminated body formed by such bonding, copper is diffused into the metal sheet by heating with a copper diffusion distance of 10 nm or more, and a protective layer is laminated to a surface of the copper foil of the laminated body.

Substrate for superconducting compound and method for manufacturing the substrate

A method of manufacturing a superconducting thin film material includes a vapor phase step of forming a superconducting layer by a vapor phase method and a liquid phase step of forming a superconducting layer by a liquid phase method so that the latter superconducting layer is in contact with the former superconducting layer. Preferably, the method further includes the step of forming an intermediate layer between the former superconducting layer and a metal substrate. The metal substrate is made of a metal, and preferably the intermediate layer is made of an oxide having a crystal structure of any of rock type, perovskite type and pyrochlore type, and the former superconducting layer and the latter superconducting layer both have an RE123 composition. Accordingly, the critical current value can be improved.

Method of manufacturing superconducting thin film material, superconducting device and superconducting thin film material

An object of the present invention is to provide a method of fabricating a superconducting wire that can reduce the fabrication cost and increase the mechanical strength of the superconducting wire, and a superconducting apparatus including a superconducting wire obtained by the method. The present invention provides a method of fabricating a superconducting wire including the steps of forming a superconducting layer on a substrate or an intermediate layer formed on the substrate, forming a silver stabilization layer on the superconducting layer, immersing the substrate in a copper sulfate solution after the superconducting layer and the silver stabilization layer are formed thereon, and forming a copper stabilization layer on the silver stabilization layer by electroplating with the copper sulfate solution as a plating bath. A superconducting apparatus including a superconducting wire obtained by the method is also provided.

A superconductor and a method for producing the same are provided. The method for producing a superconductor includes the step of forming a superconducting layer on a base layer by performing a film deposition at least three times, wherein the film thickness of a superconducting film in each film deposition is 0.3 &#x3bc;m or less. In such a case, even when the layer thickness of the superconducting layer is increased, the decrease in the Jc is suppressed and the Ic is increased.

Superconductor and process for producing the same

A superconducting cable includes a first conductor layer formed of superconducting wires, and an insulating layer formed at the outer periphery of the first conductor layer. The first conductor layer is an assembly of a plurality of superconducting wires obtained by forming an RE based superconductor layer on a metal substrate. The current is limited by an electrical resistance generated when the current of the first conductor layer exceeds the critical current, thereby preventing the superconducting cable from being damaged. A superconducting cable line is formed of a base and a current limiter, which is formed by using the above-described superconducting cable. Accordingly, when a current exceeding the rated current of the base flows, it can be damped.

The oxide superconducting wire is a flat-molded stranded wire which is formed by twisting a plurality of metal-coated strands consisting of an oxide superconductor, and is characterized in that the flat-molded stranded wire has a rectangular sectional shape, and a section of each strand forming the flat-molded stranded wire has an aspect ratio (W1/T1) of at least 2. The method of preparing this oxide superconducting wire comprises the steps of preparing a stranded wire by twisting a plurality of strands, each of which is formed by metal-coating an oxide superconductor or raw material powder therefor, flat-molding the prepared stranded wire, and repeating rolling and a heat treatment of at least 800&deg; C. on the flat molded stranded wire a plurality of times.

A method of producing a Bi&mdash;Pb&mdash;Sr&mdash;Ca&mdash;Cu oxide superconductor by thermally treating raw material comprises steps of performing first plastic deformation on the raw material, performing first heat treatment on the material being subjected to the first plastic deformation, performing second plastic deformation on the material being subjected to the first heat treatment, and performing second heat treatment on the material being subjected to the second plastic deformation.

Method of producing oxide superconductor

An oxide superconducting stranded wire having inter-strand insulation and high critical current is provided. A wire including an oxide superconducting material and a matrix covering the material and consisting essentially of silver or a silver alloy is coated with a paint containing, as a main component, an organometallic polymer such as a silicone polymer or aluminum primary phosphorus in a paint reservoir, and the paint is baked in a baking furnace via a drying furnace. A plurality of such wires with the baked paint are twined into a stranded wire, which is then heated up to a temperature necessary for sintering the oxide superconducting material. The stranded wire thus obtained through the step of sintering may have high critical current. A heat-resisting insulating coating layer may be formed by baking the paint.

Methods of manufacturing oxide superconducting stranded wire and oxide superconducting cable conductor, and coated wire, stranded wire and cable conductor

An oxide superconducting wire having a circular or substantially circular sectional shape and exhibiting a high critical current density comparable to that of a tape-shaped wire is provided. The oxide superconducting wire consists of a plurality of filaments extending along the longitudinal direction of the wire in the form of ribbons, and a stabilizer matrix covering the filaments. The aspect ratio of the width to the thickness of each filament is 4 to 40, and the thickness of each filament is 5 to 50 &mgr;m. A section of the wire is in a circular or substantially circular shape. The wire exhibits a critical current density of at least 2000 A/cm,at a temperature of 77 K with no application of a magnetic field. It is preferable that the plurality of filaments are substantially rotation-symmetrically arranged with respect to the center of the wire. It is also preferable that a hexagonal-prismatic stabilizing matrix is provided at the center of the wire and the plurality of filaments covered with the stabilizer matrix are arranged on each side surface thereof in a layered manner. A flat stranded wire having low ac loss can be formed by such wires.

Method of preparing oxide superconducting wire

An oxide superconducting wire having a circular or substantially circular sectional shape and exhibiting a high critical current density comparable to that of a tape-shaped wire is provided. The oxide superconducting wire consists of a plurality of filaments extending along the longitudinal direction of the wire in the form of ribbons, and a stabilizer matrix covering the filaments. The aspect ratio of the width to the thickness of each filament is 4 to 40, and the thickness of each filament is 5 to 50 .mu.m. A section of the wire is in a circular or substantially circular shape.
