In order to provide a biological sample analysis apparatus capable of preventing a container storing a sample from being charged and of measuring only a luminescence intensity of light emitted from the sample accurately, a biological sample analysis apparatus for rapid microbiological test analyzes light generated from a biological origin substance contained in a sample, and includes a holder that holds a plurality of containers storing the sample, a photodetector fixed at a predetermined position, a holder drive mechanism that drives the holder and sequentially positions each of the containers held by the holder at a detection position detected by the photodetector, and a neutralizer that neutralizes the containers held by the holder.

Biological sample analysis apparatus and biological sample analysis method

To provide a sample preprocessor that can make the amount of a sample liquid after filtering accurate and raise the accuracy of subsequent measurement or the like, the sample preprocessor, where a sample liquid is filtered to capture a predetermined component on a filter, includes a connection mechanism that connects a sample container and a suction source. The sample container includes a bottle that stores a sample liquid and a cartridge that has a tubular shape, has a proximal end side attached to the bottle and, has the filter provided therein. The connection mechanism includes a suction terminal that connects a distal end side of the cartridge and the suction source and sucks the sample liquid in the sample container, and an attachment surface that the bottle is attached to and arranges the cartridge in a predetermined position relative to the suction terminal.

Sample preprocessor and analysis system

The present invention is one for achieving an improvement in analysis accuracy, and a sample analyzing device that measures light emitted by introducing a reagent to a sample contained in a container to analyze the sample, and the sample analyzing device includes: a holder that holds the container; a casing that has a door for taking in/out the holder; a nozzle to/from which a pipette tip for injecting the reagent into the container can be attached/detached; a photodetector that measures the light emitted from the sample in the container supported by the holder; and a disposal box into which the pipette tip after injection is disposed of, in which the disposal box is configured to be arranged in the casing and to be taken in/out via the door.

Sample analyzing device

The present invention is one that intends to achieve improvements in both analysis efficiency and analysis accuracy without difficulty, and a biological substance analysis device that analyzes light derived from a biological substance in a sample, and the biological substance analysis device includes: a holder that holds multiple containers containing the sample; a photodetector that is fixed at a predetermined position; a holder driving mechanism that moves the holder to position each of the containers held in the holder at a detection position by the photodetector in sequence; and a light shielding mechanism that, while guiding light emitted from the sample in a container at the detection position to the photodetector, prevents light emitted from the sample in the other containers from being guided to the photodetector.

Biological sample analysis device

An electron capture detector has a detection cell containing an electrode and a radioactive isotope for ionizing a carrier gas and causing electrons to be emitted. Before the detection cell begins to be contaminated, a pulse voltage is applied to the electrode and the frequency of this pulse voltage is controlled by a loop control routine to find an initial pulse frequency value such that a current through the electrode due to the emitted electrons comes to have a specified current value as a carrier gas is introduced into the detection cell. When a sample is analyzed after the detection cell becomes contaminated, the same process is carried out before the sample is injected and a pre-measurement pulse frequency value is obtained. After the sample is injected, the same process is repeated to obtain a measured pulse frequency value. The concentrations of components of the sample are calculated from the measured pulsed frequency value, and the effects of contamination of the detection cell are removed by considering both the initial and pre-measurement pulse frequency values.

Electron capture detector for gas chromatograph

A gas chromatograph has a control unit which normally carries out a pressure control so as to keep the pressure inside the vaporization chamber at a specified target level while the flow rate of a carrier gas into the vaporization chamber is kept constant. When a liquid sample is injected to cause a sudden rise in the pressure, the normal pressure control is temporarily stopped, say, for keeping the split ratio unchanged. In order to keep unchanged the retention time for components being analyzed although the pressure inside the vaporization chamber rises, the target value for the pressure control is reduced for an appropriate length of time after the temporary stopping of pressure control is discontinued.

Gas chromatograph and method of operating same

A target pressure is calculated by a fluid dynamic theory using a length of the column, an inner diameter of the column and the temperature of the column so that the linear velocity of the gas flowing through the column is at a preset pre-determined value at which the HETP (height equivalent to a theoretical plate) value, as calculated from chemical kinematic theory, is the minimum and the resolution of the column is the highest. Then the pressure of the gas at the entrance of the column of a chromatograph is maintained at the calculated target pressure while the temperature of the column is raised to reduce the analyzing time.

Gas chromatograph

A gas chromatograph for operation selectably in both split mode and splitless wide bore injection mode includes a capillary column, a sample injection chamber at the inlet of the column, a three-way valve, a first piping line connected between one of the two outlets of the three-way valve and the sample injection chamber, a split line connected to the sample injection chamber immediately upstream of the inlet of the column for discharging therethrough a portion of a gas being sent out from the sample injection chamber, a second piping line connected between the other of the outlets of the three-way valve and the split line, and a third piping line connected between the first and second piping lines. By properly controlling the total carrier gas flow rate and the column inlet pressure, the split ratio can be controlled easily. By varying the split ratio appropriately during an analysis, the amount of the carrier gas to be wasted in the case of a split mode of operation can be significantly reduced.

Gas chromatograph and method of using same

A gas chromatograph for operation in split mode is controlled by calculating the column flow rate and the total carrier gas flow rate from the length and inner diameter of the column and specified values for temperature and column inlet pressure, adjusting the split flow rate such that the pressure value measured by a pressure sensor becomes equal to the specified pressure value and control the total carrier flow rate to be equal to the calculated value therefor. In this manner, the split ratio of the gas chromatograph can be maintained easily at a specified value. The amount of carrier gas to be wasted can be significantly reduced by appropriately varying the split ratio with time during the course of an analysis.
