A canister includes: a casing provided with a cylindrical case member having one end closed as a bottom portion and another end opened as an opened portion, and a cylindrical bottom case member closing the opened portion of the cylindrical case member, the casing being formed with a fuel vapor introducing port, a purge port and an air communication port; an adsorbent material disposed within the cylindrical case member; a pad member disposed between the adsorbent material and the cylindrical bottom case member; a grid member disposed between the adsorbent material and the cylindrical bottom case member, the pad member and the grid member being laminated as a lamination layer; and an air ventilation path formed to the grid member so as to extend in axial and radial directions of the casing in a meandering manner.

Canister

A case holding mechanism includes a holding member and a member to be held thereby, one being mounted to the case and another to a body to which the case is to be held. The member to be held includes a first pair of parallel guide portions and another pair of parallel guide portions perpendicular to the one paired guide portions. The holding member disposed to be movable with respect to the guide portions therealong in a state restricted in thickness direction of the guide portions and adapted to hold the member to be held. The holding member includes a pair of slide portions slidable along outer surfaces of one paired guide portions, a lock portion extending between the paired slide portions in parallel with the one paired guide portions and engaged with the other paired guide portions, and a base portion connecting the slide portions and the lock portion.

Case holding mechanism

In a canister, an activated charcoal layer is placed in a fluid passage by which an air intake port is connected to a charge port or purge port, and a chamber dividing the charcoal layer into sections so as to traverse the fuel passage is defined by a grid and a filter pad placed on the surface of the grid. The grid has apertures uniformly formed on the surface of the grid contacting with the filter pad, so as to communicate with the chamber. Formation of the apertures on the surface of the grid prevents the filter pad from coming into the mesh of the grid, thus maintaining flatness of the filter pad.

A canister has: a canister body including an adsorbent case which is provided with an adsorption chamber filled with an adsorbent and a fuel steam introduction port, a purge port and an air communication port which are communicated with the adsorption chamber; and a filter body. The canister body and the filter body are communicated with each other through a communication passage, in which a leak detection valve is disposed to be detachable through an end opening formed to the communication passage.

A canister for treating evaporated fuel includes a casing which is provided with a fuel vapor inlet, a purge port and a port communicating with atmosphere and in which an adsorbent is accommodated, an air passage disposed inside the casing so as to communicate with the atmosphere communication port, the air passage having a shape for flowing the sucked air in a zigzag manner in the casing, and a filter element arranged between the air passage and the adsorbent disposed inside the casing.
