There is provided a video display apparatus the display screen of which is configured by combining a plurality of video display units in each of which light emitting display elements are arranged in a matrix manner; in the video display apparatus, there is provided a luminance correction means that corrects the luminance of video data situated in a correction subject area including respective end regions, of a first video display unit and a second video display unit, that face each other, in accordance with the spacing between the first video display unit and the second video display unit; and a linear noise that is caused at a seam portion between the video display units is suppressed, whereby the image quality of a video to be displayed can be raised.

Video display apparatus and video display method

An apparatus and method are disclosed for displaying an image having high frequency components. The image is displayed on a display device that includes a plurality of display elements arranged in both horizontal and vertical directions. The display elements represent colors, such as red, green and blue. A pixel data generator generates for each display element first pixel data corresponding to the luminance levels of red, green and blue colors in the image. A smoothing filter eliminates false colors in the image by applying weighting coefficients to the first pixel data to modify the luminance levels of the first pixel data, thereby producing second pixel data having second color element data corresponding to luminance levels of the respective colors. Each display element of the display is driven in accordance with the second color element data.

Display device and image displaying method

Each of display units () constituting a display portion () of a display device () comprises a memory portion which stores display characteristics information (CL) of a light emitting portion, a chromaticity conversion parameter (P) and the like. A chromaticity range determination portion in a display control portion () receives the display characteristics information (CL) through a transmission line (L) and determines a predetermined chromaticity range common to all the display units (). An operation portion in the display control portion () calculates the chromaticity conversion parameter (P) used for achieving the predetermined chromaticity range for each of the display units () and transmits the parameter to each of the display units () through a transmission line (L). A chromaticity converter portion in each of the display units () converts chromaticity of image data (D) on the basis of the received parameter (P). The display unit () displays an image on the basis of the converted image data. The display device () can automatically control the chromaticity by display units.

By changing coefficients of second-order and first-order calculation terms relating to respective hues, and first-order calculation terms in the form of comparison-result data relating to respective inter-hue areas, only the target hue or inter-hue area among the six hues of red, blue, green, yellow, cyan, and magenta, and the six inter-hue areas can be varied, without affecting other hues and inter-hue areas. Thus, the six hues and six inter-hue areas can be corrected independently, and the large-capacity memory is not required.

Color conversion device and color conversion method

A color picture display apparatus employs an array of light-emitting diodes or other light-emitting elements emitting different colors. A television signal is converted to monochromatic signals of the different colors. A color converter modifies the monochromatic signals, thereby changing the displayed hues to match the hues that would be displayed on a television screen, to compensate for ambient lighting conditions, or to achieve other desired effects. If each picture element has only a single light-emitting element, the modification preferably avoids unlit gaps in monochromatic areas of the displayed picture.

A sampling clock generating circuit generates a sampling clock which is used for the A-D conversion of a video signal. A master clock produced by a frequency synthesizer is demultiplied in frequency at dividing ratio N.sub.S by a programmable frequency demultiplier which is reset by the horizontal sync signal. The resulting sampling clock can have one of various frequencies depending on the combination of the frequency dividing ratio N.sub.M of the frequency synthesizer and the frequency dividing ratio N.sub.S of the programmable frequency demultiplier, so that it is fit for various video signals.

A still picture transmission-display apparatus which encodes at a transmission side display timing of inputted analog still picture data so as to transmit to a receiving side the display timing code and digital still picture data obtained by digital-converting the analog still picture data and which decodes at the receiving side the display timing code so as to set parameters of the display timing at a controller, the controller, according to the parameters, controlling outputs of the still picture data and horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals to a display device. Then, still picture data of various timing can be transmitted.

The present invention relates to a scanning line converter which converts the number of scanning lines into a multiple thereof. Write-clock-pulses and read-clock-pulses for controlling read/write accesses to a video memory, are produced on a basis of signals obtained by differentiating both a horizontal synchronizing signal and a double-speed horizontal synchronizing signal with respect to stable master clock pulses. The double-speed horizontal synchronizing signal is stabilized by a method, wherein double-speed horizontal oscillation pulses with a multiple frequency of the horizontal synchronizing signal, are delayed and further converted to a saw-tooth-wave signal, and the phase errors between the saw-tooth-wave signal and the horizontal synchronizing signal are fed back to the double-speed horizontal pulse oscillator.
