A plate handling apparatus includes a loader, first and second air cylinders, and first and second detection units. The loader is supported to be movable substantially parallel to a paper convey direction and swingable in directions to come close to and be spaced apart from an outer surface of a plate cylinder to perform plate removal/supply. The first air cylinder moves the loader among a first position close to the plate cylinder, a second position spaced apart from the first position in the paper convey direction, and a third position which is between the first position and the second position. The second air cylinder swings the loader among a first swing state where the loader is substantially perpendicular to the paper convey direction, a second swing state where the loader is inclined such that its distal end faces the plate cylinder, and a third swing state which is between the first swing state and the second swing state. The first detection unit detects a position of the loader in the paper convey direction. The second detection unit detects a swing state of the loader.

Plate handling apparatus

A rotary press includes a printing unit, folding machine, dancer roller, motor, tension detection unit, and control unit. The printing unit prints on a web supplied from a winding roll. The folding machine folds the printed web supplied from the printing unit. The dancer roller retreats from and advances to a web traveling path between the printing unit and the folding machine, during printing and plate mounting, respectively, to come into contact with the web. The motor selectively, rotatably drives the winding roll in a reel-out direction and a winding direction. The tension detection unit detects a tension of the web between the winding roll and the printing unit. The control unit controls the motor on the basis of a detection result of the tension detection unit during plate mounting.

Rotary press

A printing press includes an L-shaped support arm swingably supported by a main frame such that a distal end thereof can move between lower and upper positions, a support frame swingably supported at the distal end of the support arm such that the other end thereof can move between upper and lower positions, swing arms swingably supported by the main frame such that the distal ends thereof can move between lower and upper positions, gas springs for applying force to the corresponding swing arms to move the distal end portions of the swing arms upward, an engagement pin attached to the support frame, and an engagement member attached to the swing arms and into which the engagement pin is inserted and has an engagement groove formed therein to open upward when the distal ends of the swing arms are situated at the upper position.

Printing press

A plate replacing system has a cassette capable of accommodating a new printing plate. The cassette is held at a fulcrum supported by a frame. A front end of the cassette turns about the fulcrum, and can contact and be retracted from a plate cylinder. Inside the cassette, an automatic mounting mechanism including long and short links and an air cylinder is provided for deforming the new plate so as to make a leading edge of the new plate bend. There is a gripping support side surface of a gap in the plate cylinder, which is parallel to the bend while moving a holding member, such as suction pads, which holds the leading edge of the new plate, from a waiting position to an inserting position.
