An image processing apparatus authorizing the use thereof by carrying out user authentication prevents fraudulent use of the processor and/or a data leak due to a user's forgetting invalidation of authentication or other reason. When a user is authenticated, whether the user is authorized to use a DMFP is determined by comparing the user's input information with the information of an access-authorized person stored in the DMFP. When both information matches, a range of functions available for the user are specified, and the user is authenticated. Subsequently, for example, operation of copy setting is carried out in making setting on the DMFP. When the setting operation is over, whether authentication on the user is invalidated is determined to execute processes of copy setting, etc. In response to a trigger of invalidation of authentication on the user, the processes of copy setting, etc., are started.

A job processing apparatus has a signal detecting section, a signal analyzing section, a job processing section, a main power supply portion, a first auxiliary power supply portion, a second auxiliary power supply portion, and a power control section. The main power supply portion supplies power to the job processing section. The first auxiliary power supply portion supplies power to the signal analyzing section. The first auxiliary power supply portion is smaller than the main power supply portion in power supplying amount. A network system for copiers includes a plurality of copiers each provided with a communication device for communicating with external equipment and a power-on device for powering on the copier in a hold state in response to an external signal received by the communication device and a main controller including an operation controller for controlling operation of the copiers and a time setter for setting time to power on a copier, the main controller being connected to the copiers by a network. The operation controller executes control such that only predetermined one of the copiers is powered on at the power-on time set by the time setter.

A reflected-light amount detecting process is performed for white-standard and halftone-standard originals, respectively. Based on the analysis of resulting images, correct exposure voltages Vcl(WH) and Vcl(HT) are determined. When the thus determined voltage is applied to a copy lamp to turn it on, an AE sensor, receiving the light reflected from a corresponding original of the white-standard and halftone-standard originals, and outputs a corresponding output current Vae(WH) or Vae(HT). These output currents detected are used in combination with the correct exposure voltages Vcl(WH) and Vcl(HT), to calculate control constants for determining a control characteristic.

A sheet post-processing apparatus is provided with a discharge tray which can be selectively moved between a processing mode position corresponding to a processing mode and a non-processing mode position corresponding to a non-processing mode. The apparatus is also provided with a control device which controls a tray drive unit which drives so as to set the discharge tray in the processing mode position when the processing mode is selected, while in the non-processing mode position when the non-processing mode is selected. The apparatus offers an improved discharging efficiency of processed sheets from a processing tray to the discharge tray in the processing mode and an improved aligning facility of sheets discharged on the discharge tray in the non-processing mode.

Sheet post-processing apparatus

A sheet post-processing apparatus is arranged such that in the non-staple mode, the leading edges of the sheets transported from the transport rollers are directed so as to be sandwiched between the upper and lower discharge rollers by a movable sheet guide in a non-staple mode position and the sheets are discharged onto a stacking tray through the upper and lower discharge rollers. In the staple mode, the leading edges of the sheets is directed to a discharge opening formed between the upper discharge roller and the movable sheet guide by the movable sheet guide in the staple mode position so as to be dropped onto the staple tray. After being processed by the stapler, the sheets are pushed by a pushing member through the discharge opening onto the stacking tray. As a result, the movements of the upper and lower discharge rollers are stabilized, and the sheets can be prevented from being stuck between the upper and lower discharge rollers and or being slanted when being discharged, thereby achieving a desirable discharge of the sheets in the non-staple mode.

A sheet postprocessing apparatus installed in a copy machine includes a sheet pressing arm for pressing sheets on a sheet receiver from above towards the sheet receiver. When a stapling operation is carried out on the sheets stored on the sheet receiver, the sheets are fixed by the sheet pressing arm. The stable further process after copying can be carried out, thereby making the quality of the bundle of sheets which has undergone the stapling operation stabilize.
