An image forming apparatus executes reverse charging, toner-supply suspension, second exposure, and second charging, while a photosensitive member rotates at least a full turn. In the reverse charging, a charger charges a portion of a circumferential surface of the photosensitive member to a specified polarity. In the toner-supply suspension, before the portion, which has been charged to the second polarity in the reverse charging, of the circumferential surface of the photosensitive member passes a position at which the developer from the developing unit is configured to initially adhered to the circumferential surface, a developing unit stops supplying developer to the circumferential surface. In the second exposure, an exposure device exposes the portion, which has been charged to the specified polarity in the reverse charging, of the circumferential surface. In the second charging the charger charges the portion, which has been exposed in the second exposure, of the circumferential surface.

Charge removal process in image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus executes charging, exposure, toner-supply suspension, and electric-field generation while a photosensitive member rotates at least a full turn. In the charging, a charger charges a portion of a circumferential surface of the photosensitive member. In the exposure, an exposure device exposes the portion, which has been charged in the charging, of the circumferential surface. In the toner-supply suspension, before the portion, which has been exposed in the exposure, of the circumferential surface passes a position at which developer from a developing unit is configured to initially adhere to the circumferential surface, a developing unit stops supplying developer to the photosensitive member. In the electric-field generation, an electric field is generated in a portion of the photosensitive layer of the photosensitive member corresponding to the portion, which has been exposed by the exposure device, of the circumferential surface.

There is provided an image forming apparatus including a casing which includes one side wall extending in a vertical direction and has a first opening; and a discharge portion which receives a recording medium having a developer image formed thereon, and a cassette which accommodates recording media and is removably mounted to the casing. The casing further includes a tray which is disposed near the one side wall and receives a recording medium to be transported into the casing through the first opening. The tray is rotatable between a first position where the tray is bent so as to cover at least part of the one side wall and the discharge portion and a second position where the tray extends so as to be separated from the one side wall and receives a recording medium to be supplied into the casing through the first opening.

An image forming apparatus includes a casing, a photosensitive body, a toner accommodation component, a developing roller and an exposure unit configured to emit a laser beam toward the photosensitive body along an irradiating path. A developing device includes a housing, a developing roller, a supply roller, a first regulating member, a second regulating member, a communication portion, and a conveying member. The second regulating member contacts with the supply roller. The housing has a first part and a second part. The first part is downstream of the second regulating member in a rotating direction of the supply roller, and a second part is upstream of the second regulating member in the rotating direction. The communication portion provides communication between the first part and the second part. The conveying member is in the first part and configured to convey the developing agent in the first part to the communication portion.

An image forming apparatus includes a casing having a cover which is moved between a closed position and an open position, a process unit which is removably mounted to the casing via an opening of the casing and includes a handle, and an interlocking mechanism which moves the process unit in interlocking with a movement of the cover between the closed position and the open position to cause the process unit to be located at an internal position when the cover is located at the closed position and cause the process unit to be located at an extraction position when the cover is located at the open position. The handle is moved in interlocking with a movement of the process unit between an accommodation position when the process unit is located at the internal position and an ejection position when the process unit is located at the extraction position.

A developer supply device, comprising: a carrying substrate having electrodes arranged along a developer transport path at predetermined intervals to carry a developer through a traveling electric field, wherein the carrying substrate comprises: a rigid upper carrying substrate formed to stand to carry the developer upward; and a flexible bottom carrying substrate curved to be a semispherical shape and is configured to charge the developer by friction with the developer and to be connected with a lower end portion of the upper carrying substrate so as to form a bottom surface of a developer reservoir portion, and wherein a joint portion of the bottom carrying substrate connected to the lower end portion is overlapped with the lower end portion such that the joint portion carries the developer in a same direction as a direction in which the developer is carried by the lower end portion.

A developer supply device, comprising a casing having: a developer reservoir at a bottom part of the casing; a developer amount adjustment chamber provided close to a side of the developer reservoir to communicate with a top portion of the developer reservoir; and a communication part through which the top portion of the developer reservoir and the developer amount adjustment chamber communicate with each other, and further comprising: a carrying substrate having electrodes arranged along a developer transport path to carry a developer through a traveling electric field, each of the electrodes having a longer side extending in a width direction of the developer reservoir, and a developer providing unit to provide the developer into the developer reservoir, and wherein the carrying substrate comprises an upper carrying substrate on an inner wall of the casing on an opposite side of the communication part to carry the developer upward.
