A printer includes a receiver, an inserter, and a sort controller. The receiver receives print data. In response to detection of a change in a reception condition for receiving the print data by the receiver, the inserter inserts separator information between a print data portion received before the detection and a print data portion received after the detection, and thereby generates print data including the separator information inserted thereinto. In response to detection of the separator information from the print data including the separator information inserted thereinto that is sequentially input from the inserter, the sort controller performs control to sort a printout of a print data portion after the detected separator information from a printout of a print data portion before the detected separator information.

An image forming apparatus includes a receiving unit, a paper information storing unit, an initializing unit, a paper information comparing unit, a temporary stopping unit, and a printing unit. The receiving unit receives print jobs. The paper information storing unit stores paper information preset in the printed page. The initializing unit initializes the paper information stored in the paper information storing unit during a certain period. The paper information comparing unit compares the paper information of the page to be printed in the print job with the stored paper information. The temporary stopping unit temporarily stops printing according to the result of the comparison. The printing unit prints the print data of the page to be printed in the case that the paper information of the page to be printed is the same as the stored paper information or the stored paper information has been initialized.

An UI device includes a display unit, a cancel button, an execution button, and print data selection buttons. Identification information of print data during printing is displayed on the display unit, and when the cancel button is pressed for a predetermined time, the print data during printing is canceled. Further, when the pressed time is less than the predetermined time, a list of identification information of the print data is shown so that one of print data can be selected with the print data selection buttons and the selection to cancel is determined with the execution button, thereby canceling the print data.
