A solenoid valve device controls a driving force generated by a linear solenoid (electromagnetic driving portion), for pressing a spool away from the linear solenoid by controlling a current supplied to a coil, and ultimately adjusting an oil pressure flowing from an outlet port. As current supplied to the coil increases, the outlet port oil pressure decreases. An outside diameter of a tube portion of a valve housing is equal to or larger than an outside diameter r of the linear solenoid (r &gE;r ) and a flange of the valve housing, permitting the entire solenoid valve device to be disposed within a cylindrical reception hole provided in a hydraulic control apparatus body of an automatic gear, for example. A method of manufacturing the solenoid valve device is also disclosed.

Solenoid valve device and its manufacturing method

A base material of a peripheral wall and a vane rotor is formed by extrusion molding an aluminum alloy and cutting an extrusion molded article to the desired length. Further, the extrusion molded article can be molded with high accuracy by extracting the aluminum alloy after extrusion. Preferably, 6000 system of Al&mdash;Mg&mdash;Si is used as an aluminum alloy. The cutting process and polishing process are applied to the roughly molded base material to form the peripheral wall and the vane rotor. By varying the length to be cut, the volume of each retard hydraulic chamber and each advance hydraulic chamber are adjusted. When the volume of the hydraulic chambers are adjusted, the torque for relatively rotating and driving the vane rotor with respect to the housing member can be changed even pressure of working oil is the same.

Method for manufacturing valve timing adjusting apparatus

A stator core integrally includes a container portion and an attracting portion. The container portion contains and supports a plunger to allow it to reciprocate thereinside. The attracting portion magnetically attracts the plunger. The plunger includes a moving core made of magnetic material, and a nonmagnetic cup fit to the moving core. The cup integrally includes a cylindrical wall covering the outside wall of the moving core, and a bottom covering the lower end of the moving core. Air gap between the moving core and the container portion can be reduced by making the thickness of the cup as thin as possible. Thus, an attracting force for attracting the plunger without increasing winding number of the coil.

A valve timing adjusting device, in which the housing member including a chain sprocket and a shoe housing, and a vane rotor are relatively rotatable. The inner surfaces on both axial sides of the housing member and the outside surfaces on both axial sides of the vane rotor slide each other. A retard oil passage communicating with each retard hydraulic chamber is formed in an outside surface of the vane rotor on the side to which a hydraulic fluid is supplied through an oil passage formed in a camshaft. Furthermore, an advance oil passage communicating with each advance hydraulic chamber is formed at an interval of about 90 degrees at the center of an inner surface of the chain sprocket on the side to which the hydraulic fluid is supplied through a groove oil passage formed in the camshaft.

Valve timing adjusting device

In a rotational phase adjusting apparatus used for adjusting opening/closing timings of an intake valve or an exhaust valve of an internal combustion engine, a shoe housing driven by a driving shaft has a circumferential wall and a front plate which are integrally formed by aluminum die-casting. Each shoe has a distortion-absorbing hole, and a fan-shaped chamber for accommodating a vane for driving a driven shaft is formed between adjacent two of the shoes. The outer circumferential wall of each shoe has a recess which has an arch shape in section and extends in an axial direction. A clamp seat is formed on a front plate side. When the clamp seat is pressed by a draw claw, a portion of each shoe on the outer circumferential side of the distortion-absorbing hole is resiliently deformed, but a portion of each shoe on the inner circumferential side of the distortion-absorbing hole is deformed less. Thus, this improves the machining accuracy of working surfaces of the shoe housing which affects on sealability and sliding wear between component parts.

Rotational phase adjusting apparatus having seat for drill-machining

In a rotational phase adjusting apparatus which may be used for controlling opening/closing timings of intake and exhaust valves of an internal combustion engine, one side wall of a housing is fixed to one of a driving member and a driven member, while the other side wall of the housing is made integrally with a circumferential wall of the housing. A seal made of a material less harder than the housing is provided between the housing and a vane. The housing is made of an aluminum while the seal is made of a PPS resin mixed with an inorganic filler. The inorganic filler is harder than the PPS resin but less harder than the housing to reduce wear of the housing.

In a vane-type rotational phase adjusting apparatus used for adjusting opening/closing timings of an intake valve or an exhaust valve of an engine, a housing unit driven by a driving shaft has a fan-shaped accommodating chamber between adjacent two of a plurality of shoes arranged circumferentially. A vane unit for driving a driven shaft is disposed in the housing unit with its vanes being disposed in the corresponding one of the accommodating chamber so that the rotational phase of the driven shaft is adjusted by the pressure of fluid in the accommodating chamber. Recesses are formed as fluid reservoirs in a cross-sectionally half circle shape on the circumferential end walls of the shoes to hold the operating fluid therein when the housing unit and the vane unit are at rest because of engine stop.
