A jig for calcining an electronic component including a substrateand a zirconia layercoated on a surface of the substrate characterized in that the zirconia layer including one or more metal oxides forming a liquid phase is calcined for improving peel-off resistance and wear resistance to crystallize the liquid phase after the calcination. In the jig for calcining the electronic component, when the zirconia layer is formed by using an inexpensive method such as an application method, the zirconia layer is not peeled off from the substrate, and grains are not detached.

Herein disclosed is a filter medium for molten metals which consists of a sintered body of a mixture comprising 100 parts by weight of at least one refractory grain selected from the group consisting of alumina particles and Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.MgO spinel crystal particles; and 5 to 25 parts by weight of an inorganic binder which comprises 60 to 90% by weight of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.MgO spinel crystal powder, 5 to 12% by weight of B.sub.2 O.sub.3, and not more than 30% by weight of at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, MgO and TiO.sub.2. The filter medium is used for filtering off solid impurities mixed in molten metals, in particular, molten aluminums.

This invention provides a superconducting magnetic shield and a magnetic shielding apparatus including the same, thereby accurately measuring an extremely weak magnetic field such an magnetoencephalographic waves by reducing the influence of magnetic field of the earth or magnetic noises.

Superconducting magnetic shield

A magnetoencephalograph comprising an oxide superconductor magnetic shielded vessel and a cryostat for cooling the magnetic shielded vessel, a multichannel SQUID and a cryostat for cooling the SQUID inserted together in the magnetic shielded vessel from one end of the magnetic shielded vessel, a magnetic-field detection unit situated in the vessel for detecting magnetic fields, and a coupling portion for coupling the SQUID and the magnetic-field detection unit with respect to the signals, and the SQUID and the magnetic-field detection unit being detachable. The magnetoencephalograph makes possible the detection of the very weak magnetic fields from the human brain and therewith reduction of the diameter of the opening of the magnetic shield vessel for inserting the SQUID. The reduction of the diameter of the SQUID opening in turn makes it possible to reduce the length of the magnetic shielded vessel, thereby preserving a high shielding effect of the magnetic shield vessel because of the L/D relationship. The magnetic shielded vessel is thus reduced to a practical size which is easy to handle and fabricatable at a low cost.

A method for making superconductive ceramics laminates comprises forming a thick film of a composite oxide comprising bismuth, strontium, calcium, copper and oxygen on a flat plane of a substrate, and orienting and crystallizing the thus formed film by heat treatment to cause the c-axis of composite oxide crystals to be substantially perpendicular to said flat plane of said substrate. An intermediate layer formed of a noble metal, MgO, SrTiO.sub.3, yttria-stabilized zirconia or an oxide of a superconductive ceramics-constituting element may be interposed between the film and the substrate.
