A disc apparatus which can judge accurately whether or not a spindle motor is at fault due to a short circuit is provided. A disc apparatus () includes a spindle motor () which rotates a disc (), a differential operational amplifier () which successively detects output voltages of the spindle motor (), and a failure judgment unit () which calculates an average voltage of the plural output voltages and judges whether or not the spindle motor () is at fault in accordance with the average voltage and the output voltages. When counting number of occurrences of a specific state which indicates that one of the two output voltages detected successively is larger than the average voltage and other of the two output voltages is smaller than the average voltage, the failure judgment unit () judges that the spindle motor () is at fault. Consequently, the failure judgment unit () can rapidly and accurately judge the failure in the spindle motor () without the influence from the unexpected change of the output voltages.

Disc apparatus

A drive stoppage command unit commands a drive unit to stop driving a pickup head, and an objective lens of a pickup head, when it has decided that the power supply voltage of operating power which is being supplied by a first power supply unit to a servo control unit is less than or equal to a first voltage. Furthermore, the drive stoppage command unit also commands the drive unit to stop driving the pickup head and the objective lens, if stoppage of the driving of the pickup head and of the objective lens has been decided upon by a logic control unit.

Optical disk device

A disk device includes: a rotating unit for rotating the optical disk; an optical pick-up for reading the information data recorded on the optical disk; a moving unit for moving the optical pick-up; a focus control unit for leading the focus of the optical pick-up; a tracking control unit for leading the tracking of the optical pick-up; and an adjusting unit for changing the setting value of an equalizer to adjust the equalizer, wherein: when the optical disk is loaded on the disk device, the optical pick-up is moved to the innermost periphery of the optical disk, the optical disk is rotated, the focus and the tracking are led, and the operation of the optical pick-up is raised; and the setting value of the equalizer is changed to adjust the equalizer at a position where the operation of the optical pick-up is raised.
