An image formation apparatus according to an embodiment may include: a first image formation unit that forms a first toner image on a first image carrier by using a bright toner containing a bright pigment; a second image formation unit that forms a second toner image on a second image carrier by using a non-bright toner containing no bright pigment; a transfer unit that transfers the first and second toner images to a transfer body; and a controller that controls the transfer unit. The controller is configured to perform control such that a transfer efficiency of the bright toner in a case where the second toner image is superimposed to the first toner image formed on the transfer body is lower than the transfer efficiency of the bright toner in a case where the second toner image is not superimposed to the first toner image formed on the transfer body.

A recording apparatus includes a recording head, a carrying part, a carriage and a detector that optically detects an image recorded on a recording medium, and a controller that obtains a correction value of recording positions of dots from a test pattern, and corrects the recording positions of the dots based on the correction value. The test pattern includes an adjustment pattern and a reference pattern, the adjustment pattern includes multiple overlapping patterns that are each formed by overlapping two basic patterns, the reference pattern is formed of predetermined patterns that each correspond to the multiple overlapping patterns, the correction value of recording positions of dots, which is obtained by the controller, is calculated based on adjustment detection results respectively obtained by detecting the multiple overlapping patterns and a reference detection result obtained by detecting the predetermined pattern forming the reference pattern, and the controller corrects the recording positions of dots based on the correction value.

Recording apparatus and correction method

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, a developer carrier disposed so as to face the image carrier, a transfer body disposed so as to face the image carrier, and a contact-separation mechanism. The contact-separation mechanism brings the developer carrier and the image carrier into contact with each other and separates the developer carrier and the image carrier from each other, and brings the image carrier and the transfer body into contact with each other and separates the image carrier and the transfer body from each other.

A developing device according to the invention develops latent images formed on an image carrier with a developer including toner carrier and toner. The developing device includes a developer container, a developer conveying member, a supply unit, a discharge unit, and a discharge prohibiting unit. The developer container contains the developer. The developer conveying member conveys the developer contained in the developer container as stirring the developer to circulate the developer in a circulation path in the developer container. The supply unit supplies at least the toner carrier to the circulation path. The discharge unit discharges excessive developer in the circulation path according to supply from the supply unit. The discharge prohibiting unit prohibits discharge of the developer from the discharge unit during a predetermined discharge prohibiting period in a case where the toner carrier is supplied from the supply unit.

An aspect of the invention provides a developer that comprises first charged particles and second charged particles that have smaller charge than the first charged particles, or that are charged opposite to the first charged particles. Here, the first particles are colored, while the second particles may be colorless. Alternatively, the first particles are colored, while the second particles may have approximately the same color as a medium.

A cleaning device includes a blade disposed so as to contact an image bearing body that bears a developer image. The blade scrapes off a developer adhering to the image bearing body. The blade has an edge portion including first and second surfaces, and is configured so that a distance between the first and second surfaces decreases toward a tip of the edge portion. The first and second surfaces form a predetermined edge angle at the tip of the edge portion. An area of the first surface is smaller than an area of the second surface, and the first surface contacts the image bearing body.
