Machining coolant/lubricant is used to operate a piston of a clamping-side coupler by feeding same via a coolant feed passage to a clamping pressure chamber through a first check valve and a clamping pressure fluid passage. The same coolant/lubricant is discharged from an unclamping pressure chamber through an unclamping pressure fluid passage and a second check valve. The resulting movement of the piston downwards brings a clamp member into contact with a workpiece to thereby clamp the workpiece on a table. Thus, a dedicated pressure source for clamping can be dispensed with.

Machining apparatus with coolant-operated clamp device

Machining is possible in such a manner that an optional position of a workpiece is positioned just under a tool by rotation of a turn table in a C-axis direction, movement of the turn table in a Y-axis direction, and movement of a spindle in a Z-axis direction, so that a width of a main unit in a X-axis direction can be made shorter in comparison with machining by moving the turn table in the X-axis direction. Besides, the turn table located on a front side of the main unit, an ATC located on the rear side thereof, and a separated control panel located on the rear side of the ATC, independent from the main unit can also make the width of a machining center in the X-axis direction shorter.

Machining center

A drill fitted to an adapter is used to drill a hole in a workpiece fixed on a table of a machining center. When the hole drilling is finished, the drill is removed from the adapter, and a workpiece holding jig is fitted to the adapter. Then, the adapter is lowered, and the workpiece holding jig takes the workpiece for which the hole drilling operation has been finished. Following this, the adapter is raised, and the workpiece is temporarily held in the machining center. Then, in this state, the next workpiece is mounted on the table of the machining center. Accordingly, by temporarily holding the workpiece, for which the hole drilling operation has been finished, in the machining center, mounting of the next workpiece is simplified.

Machining apparatus and machining line provided with same

Machining is possible in such a manner that an optional position of a workpiece is positioned just under a tool by rotation of a turn table in a C-axis direction and movement of a spindle on a Y-Z plane, so that a width of a main unit in a X-axis direction can be made shorter in comparison with machining by moving the turn table in the X-axis direction. Besides, the turn table located on a front side of the main unit, an ATC located on the rear side thereof, and a separated control panel located on the rear side of the ATC, independent from the main unit can also make the width of a machining centre in the X-axis direction shorter.

A machining tool has a tool holder aligned on an axis of rotation &#x3b2; of its shaft, which axis &#x3b2; is oblique to the axis of rotation of a spindle at a predetermined angle &#x3b8;. Accordingly, the machining tool may perform oblique machining of a workpiece. A power transmission mechanism that transmits rotation of the spindle to the machining tool is formed as an attachment to the spindle and includes a rotatable shaft, a second bevel drive gear, a second bevel driven gear, and a feed shaft. Further, a feed mechanism which feeds the machining tool along the axis &#x3b2; of the rotatable shaft is formed of the attachments, the rotatable shaft; the second bevel drive gear and the second bevel driven gear, a first bevel drive gear a first bevel driven gear, a male screw member, and the feed shaft.
