A windshield according to an aspect of the present invention is a windshield for an automobile on which an information acquisition device capable of acquiring information from the outside of a vehicle by emitting and/or receiving light can be arranged. The windshield includes; a glass plate including an information acquisition region that is opposite to the information acquisition device and through which the light passes; and an antifog laminate that includes a heat blocking layer and an antifog layer with antifog properties layered on one surface of the heat blocking layer, and that is layered on a surface on a vehicle interior side of the information acquisition region while the other surface of the heat blocking layer faces the surface on the vehicle interior side of the information acquisition region.

Windshield and windshield manufacturing method

Provided is an anti-fogging coated transparent article including an anti-fog film, the anti-fog film being a single-layer film containing a water-absorbent resin, a hydrophobic group, and a metal oxide component. The hydrophobic group is a chain or cyclic alkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, preferably a linear alkyl group having 6 to 14 carbon atoms, in which at least one hydrogen atom is optionally substituted by a fluorine atom. The hydrophobic group is bonded directly to a metal atom of the metal oxide component. The anti-fog film contains, for example, the metal oxide component in an amount of 0.01 to 60 parts by mass and the hydrophobic group in an amount of 0.05 to 10 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the water-absorbent resin. The water-absorbent resin is, for example, polyvinyl acetal.

Provided is a method for producing a vehicle window glass, the method being adapted to prevent peeling-off of a functional thin film from a ceramic shielding layer without masking the ceramic shielding layer with a masking tape. This production method includes: an application step of feeding a coating liquid for forming the functional thin film onto a principal surface of a glass sheet on which the ceramic shielding layer has been formed beforehand, so as to allow the coating liquid to flow in a predetermined direction on the principal surface; and a drying step of drying the fed coating liquid. In the application step, the glass sheet is set in such a position that the predetermined direction coincides with a first direction in which the maximum length of the principal surface is 30 cm or less (rather than with a second direction in which the maximum length is more than 50 cm) and thus that the distance the coating liquid flows on the principal surface is limited to 30 cm or less.

Provided is a method for forming a coating containing an organic acid in a glass sheet production line while controlling an increase in the haze ratio of the glass. The method of the present invention is a method for producing a coated glass sheet, the method including the steps of cutting a glass ribbon to form a plurality of glass sheets in a glass sheet production line; and applying a solution onto the glass ribbon or the plurality of glass sheets in the glass sheet production line, the solution containing an organic acid and at least one selected from a water-soluble polymer and a polyphosphoric acid salt. The water-soluble polymer is preferably a water-soluble high-molecular-weight polymer, and more preferably a water-soluble copolymer. A preferred water-soluble copolymer contains a vinylpyrrolidone unit.

Glass sheet on which is formed coating suitable for preventing weathering and method for producing same

Provided is a glass article that improves the film strength of a photocatalyst film while maintaining the photocatalytic function and the reflection suppressing function of the photocatalyst film. The photocatalyst film on the glass sheet is formed to contain, in mass %, 50 to 82% of silicon oxide particles, 8 to 40% of titanium oxide particles, and 7 to 20% of a binder component composed of silicon oxide. The average particle diameter of the silicon oxide particles is set to at least 5 times the average particle diameter of the titanium oxide particles. The photocatalyst film is formed to have a structure such that some of the silicon oxide particles in the film serve as protruding silicon oxide particles that are not in contact with the glass sheet and that have their top portions protruding from the surrounding titanium oxide particles and being exposed on the surface of the film, while some of the titanium oxide particles are interposed between the glass sheet and the protruding silicon oxide particles.

An article with a silica-based film that contains an organic material and has excellent mechanical strength. This article includes a substrate and an organic-inorganic composite film that is formed on the surface of the substrate. The organic-inorganic composite film contains silica as its main component. A value of (0.19A+0.03) or lower (A denotes the film thickness [&#x3bc;m]) is obtained through X-ray diffraction analysis on the organic-inorganic composite film, with the X-ray incident angle being fixed at 1&#xb0; with respect to the surface of the organic-inorganic composite film, when the intensity of a peak at a diffraction angle of 3&#xb0; to 10&#xb0; is standardized using the intensity of a halo pattern peak at a diffraction angle of 20&#xb0; to 30&#xb0;. A value of 0.25 or lower is obtained through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis on the organic-inorganic composite film, when the intensity of a peak at around 950 cmbased on a Si&#x2014;OH group is standardized using the intensity of a peak at around 1100 cmbased on a Si&#x2014;O&#x2014;Si bond.

The present invention allows abrasion resistance in silica-based films containing an organic material to be improved. Such a silica-based film contains silica as an inorganic oxide to be its main component, and a poorly water-soluble polymer as an organic material. Example of the poorly water-soluble polymer include a polymer having a solubility of 1.0 g or less with respect to 100 g of water at 25&#xb0; C., such as polycaprolactone polyol, bisphenol A polyol and glycerol polyol. The silica-based film exhibits good abrasion resistance not only in the Taber abrasion test, but also in the steel wool abrasion test.

An article with an organic-inorganic composite film that contains silica as its main component and does not separate from the substrate after the Taber abrasion test prescribed in Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) R 3212. This composite film is formed of a coating solution containing a hydrophilic organic polymer by a sol-gel process. In this solution, for example, the amount of silicon alkoxide exceeds 3 mass % in terms of a SiOconcentration. When the coating solution contains a phosphorus source, the molality of protons is 0.0001 to 0.2 mol/kg while the number of moles of water is at least four times the total number of moles of silicon atoms contained in the silicon alkoxide. This sol-gel process allows a film with excellent mechanical strength to be obtained even when the substrate is not heated up to a temperature exceeding 400&#xb0; C. and the film thickness exceeds 250 nm.

For obtaining a substrate on the surface of which a water repellent film is firmly bonded through an undercoating film, and which shows a low critical inclination angle, superior durability, and high density, a water repellent and/or oil repellent film layer is formed by using a liquid for undercoating treatment. The liquid for undercoating treatment is obtained by dissolving and reacting a material having chlorosilyl radicle radicle in molecular form therein and is dissolved into an alcohol group solvent, so that a surface roughness (Ra) of less than 0.5 nm is obtained, thereby achieving high durability and a low critical inclination angle.
