A light irradiation device includes a light source, a light guide member, and a holding member. The light guide member includes an incident surface, an exit surface, and a held surface. The incident surface has an elongated shape in a main scanning direction and faces a light emitting surface of the light source. The light guide member includes a securing structure in each of both end portions in the main scanning direction, which are out of a light guide area of the light guide member. The securing structure in one end portion is an engagement lug structure protruding to penetrate into a through-hole of the holding member, including a lug on a leading end, and engaging the holding member. The securing structure on another end portion is a fastening structure having a fastening hole penetrated with a fastening member and being secured to the holding member with the fastening member.

Light irradiation device, image reading device, and image forming apparatus

An automatic document feeding device includes a document tray, an ejection tray, and a document takeout port. The document tray is rotatably attached to a rotation fulcrum provided in a body of the automatic document feeder, to load a document. The document tray includes a first positioner and a second positioner. The first positioner is disposed at a front side of the body in a direction perpendicular to a document feed direction. The second positioner is disposed at a depth side of the body in the direction perpendicular to the document feed direction. The first positioner is disposed upstream from the rotation fulcrum in the document feed direction and above the document takeout port in the body. An upper portion and side surfaces of the first positioner in the direction perpendicular to the document feed direction are surrounded by the document tray in a closed state of the document tray.

Automatic document feeding device

An automatic document feeding device includes a conveyance unit, an image reading unit, a color reference member, a moving assembly, and a drive source. The drive source includes a rotation output shaft to drive the conveyance unit and the moving assembly. The drive source changes the rotation output shaft from a forward rotation direction to a reverse rotation direction to reversely rotate the rotation output shaft to a set reverse rotation angle set in advance, according to a condition of conveyance of the document. In a rotation transmission route from the rotation output shaft to the moving assembly, the movement regulator is disposed in a first reverse rotation drive region from when a rotation direction of the rotation output shaft is changed to the reverse rotation direction to when a rotation angle of the rotation output shaft after the change in the reverse rotation direction reaches the set reverse rotation angle.

Automatic document feeding device and image forming apparatus incorporating same

This desulfurization device is for desulfurizing a discharge gas which contains sulfur oxides and which was discharged from a device for sulfuric acid production that includes a concentrated-sulfuric-acid production step in which sulfur trioxide gas obtained by oxidizing sulfur dioxide gas is absorbed in an aqueous sulfuric acid solution while supplying water thereto to thereby produce sulfuric acid having a concentration as high as 90 wt % or more but less than 99 wt %, the desulfurization device comprising: a desulfurization tower in which the sulfur oxides are removed from the discharge gas and, simultaneously therewith, dilute sulfuric acid is formed from the sulfur oxides; and a dilute sulfuric acid mixer which, in the concentrated-sulfuric-acid production step, mixes the dilute sulfuric acid with the aqueous sulfuric acid solution.

A sheet conveyance device includes a sheet mount on which a standard-sized sheet is mountable; a first conveyor to bring in the sheet from the mount, convey the sheet through a reverse conveyance path such that the sheet passes through a specific operation position, and eject the sheet into a sheet ejection area outside the mount; and a second conveyor to bring in a hard sheet with a higher bending rigidity than the sheet from one end of a straight conveyance path along a plane passing through the specific position of the reverse path, and eject the hard sheet conveyed along the straight path from another end of the straight path at a sheet ejection area side. The mount includes a hard sheet ejection port to let through at least a leading edge portion of the hard sheet to be ejected from the second conveyor in a sheet ejection direction.

Sheet conveyance device

An image scanner, which is incorporated in an image forming apparatus, includes a stationary-document reading section, a moving-document reading section disposed at an angle to the stationary-document reading section, a reader movable between the stationary-document reading section and the moving-document reading section, and a reading element movable to different angles while contacting the stationary-document reading section and the moving-document reading section to selectively read a document placed on the stationary-document reading section and a document moving over the moving-document reading section. The image scanner further includes any one of position detector, a combination of a moving device and at least one position sensor, and a combination of at least one pressing member, a framework, and an angle changer.

Image scanner and image forming apparatus incorporating the image scanner

An exhaust gas treating method removes sulfur dioxide from exhaust gas containing at least sulfur dioxide and mercury by bringing the exhaust gas into contact with absorption liquid. Persulfate is added into the absorption liquid or alternatively, iodine gas is added to the exhaust gas before the exhaust gas is brought into contact with the absorption liquid. A high removal rate for both sulfur dioxide and mercury is stably maintained if the load of power generation and the composition of exhaust gas fluctuate.

Exhaust gas treating method

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a first sheet stack portion, a sheet output section, and a post processing unit. The image forming unit forms an image on a sheet. The first sheet stack portion is provided at an upper face of the image forming unit. The sheet output section outputs the sheet on which the image is formed by the image forming unit from one side of the image forming apparatus to the first sheet stack portion. The post processing unit is provided adjacent to a lateral side of the image forming unit at an upstream side of the sheet output section to execute post processing on the sheet. A sheet subjected to post-processing by the post-processing unit is output to the first sheet stack portion from the same direction as a sheet not subjected to post-processing by the post-processing unit.

Image forming apparatus

A carbon-based catalyst for flue gas desulfurization is brought into contact with a flue gas containing at least SOgas, oxygen and water vapor so that the SOgas can react with the oxygen and the water vapor to form sulfuric acid which is to be recovered. On a surface of the carbon-based catalyst, iodine, bromine or a compound thereof is added, ion exchanged or supported and a water-repellent treatment is applied. The carbon-based catalyst can also be used as a mercury adsorbent for flue gas treatment for adsorbing and removing metallic mercury from a flue gas containing metallic mercury, SOgas, oxygen and water vapor.

In a lighting device, a light source emits light. A second sandwiching member includes a second opposed surface opposing a first opposed surface of a first sandwiching member. The first sandwiching member and the second sandwiching member sandwich the light source in such a manner that the light source is detachably attached to the first sandwiching member and the second sandwiching member. A reflection member is provided on the first opposed surface of the first sandwiching member and the second opposed surface of the second sandwiching member to reflect the light emitted by the light source toward an irradiation region on an original document sheet. A positioning member is provided in the first opposed surface of the first sandwiching member and the second opposed surface of the second sandwiching member to position the light source with respect to the reflection member.

Lighting device for use in an optical scanning unit, of an image reader

In an image reader, an optical scanning unit reads an original image on an original document sheet. In the optical scanning unit, a lighting device is detachably attached to a housing to emit light toward the original document sheet. The housing houses a reading device to read the light reflected by the original document sheet. A shield member is detachably attached to the housing to shield the reading device from the lighting device to form a space for the reading device inside the housing. A slit is provided in the shield member to guide the light reflected by the original document sheet to the space for the reading device. A second positioner is provided on the shield member to engage a first positioner provided in the housing to position the reading device with respect to the lighting device.

Image reader and image forming apparatus including the image reader

In an image forming apparatus, when a first sheet discharger discharges a sheet bearing an image in a first direction from a proximal end to a distal end of the image forming apparatus, a post-processing device performs post-processing including at least one of stapling, punching, stamping, and sorting of the sheet discharged from the first sheet discharger. After a second sheet discharger discharges the processed sheet in a second direction opposite to the first direction in which the first sheet discharger discharges the sheet bearing the image, a sheet stacker stacks the sheet discharged from the second sheet discharger. A sheet conveyance path is provided between the first sheet discharger and the second sheet discharger. An opening is provided between the sheet stacker and an image reader so that the sheet discharged from the second sheet discharger can be retrieved from the sheet stacker in the second direction.

Compact image forming apparatus with post-processing

An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body, a cover section, an image reading device including a document hold member and a document hold member cover, and a lock mechanism. When the document hold member cover is not in close contact with the document hold member, the lock mechanism prevents opening of the cover section or sliding of the image reading device.

Disclosed is an image forming apparatus including a toner feed unit used in a developing device and provided near a top surface of a body casing. The toner feed unit includes a frame that includes a toner container storage space portion including a curved concave portion formed of a material different from a material constituting the body casing, and has supporting surfaces, in a part of a top surface of the space, that support side portions of a device mounted on the body casing and a rear portion of the device connected to the side portions by surface contact. The frame has legs that extend from a position, which is located opposite to the device to be mounted, toward an installation surface of the body casing. The frame is built in the body casing.

Image forming apparatuses having specialized toner structures and materials

An image forming apparatus includes an imaging unit for black and imaging units for other colors, a writing unit for black and a writing unit for other colors, a first heater corresponding to the imaging unit and the writing unit for black color, and a second heater corresponding to the imaging units and the writing unit for other colors. Turning ON/OFF of each of the first heater and the second heater are controlled separately. Thus, the first heater can be ON while the second heater is OFF.
