In a wireless audio system in which both wireless audio signal transmission and communication using other wireless apparatuses are carried out, the transmitter and the receiver transmit audio packets by the following procedure using a plurality of communication channels shared with other wireless communication. The transmitter and the receiver select the same channel; after detecting that the channel has become idle, the transmitter stands by for only a stand-by time Tshorter than the shortest packet space stipulated in the procedure of the other wireless communication and then transmits an audio packet; after the reception of the audio packet is completed, the receiver stands by for only a stand-by time Tshorter than the shortest packet space and then returns a response signal. After the transmission/reception of a predetermined number of audio packets is completed, the transmitter and the receiver switch the communication channel and repeat the procedure.

Wireless audio transmission method

An acoustic processing apparatus includes: a connecting unit to which an instructing device is connected; a situation obtaining unit obtaining information indicative of whether a number of apparatuses connected to the instructing device is a plural number or not, from the instructing device; a receiving unit receiving an instruction value from the instructing device; a storage unit in which a set value is stored; a determining unit, in a case where the information indicates that the number of apparatuses connected to the instructing device is a plural number, comparing the instruction and set values, and determines correspondence relationship between the values in accordance with a result of comparison; a changing unit, when the receiving unit receives a instruction value after the correspondence relationship is determined, specifying a set value which corresponds to the instruction value, based on the correspondence relationship, and changes the set value stored in the storage unit to the specified set value; and an acoustic processing unit which applies an acoustic process on an input audio data in accordance with the set value.

Acoustic processing apparatus

An optical disc reading device successively reads out data from an optical disc where the data are recorded on a packet-by-packet basis in such a manner that a link block is formed as a written-data gap between every adjoining packets. The data read out from the optical disc are decoded and subjected to an error detecting and correcting operation block by block. The blocks decoded and subjected to the error detecting and correcting operation are then sequentially stored into a data buffer. When a non-correctable error is found in a specific one of the blocks stored in the data buffer, the data reading section is controlled to continue the successive data readout from the optical disc if the specific block having the non-correctable error is a link block. But, if the specific block is not a link block, it is invalidated and the data reading section is controlled to stop the successive data readout from the optical disc. This arrangement effectively avoids degradation in reading performance even when an error occurs in a link block during advance readout of the data written on the packet-by-packet basis.

Optical disc reading device

In a communication network system such as a local area network (i.e., LAN), a plurality of repeating stations each providing a data repeating apparatus are linked together by a transmission line, wherein serial data of which significant data portion is sandwiched by delimiters is transferred. This serial data is received and repeated by the data repeating apparatus, from which it is sent out to the next station. When detecting the delimiter, this apparatus produces a delimiter timing signal. On the basis of this delimiter timing signal, a first conversion timing signal synchronized with the receiving clock is generated, while a second conversion timing signal synchronized with the sending clock is also generated. The receiving serial data is temporarily converted into parallel data by the first conversion timing signal, and then, this parallel data is re-converted into serial data by the second conversion timing signal. This serial data is sent out from the repeating station. Herein, a preamble portion (i.e., invalid-bit portion) is automatically formed on the basis of the maximum number of the drop-out bits corresponding to the number of the repeating stations linked together by the transmission line, so that this preamble portion is sent out with the re-converted serial data. When a period difference between the first and second conversion timing signals exceeds the predetermined allowable value, the bit-conversion size (e.g., 8 bits or 16 bits) is changed so as to avoid the bit-overflow phenomenon.

Data repeating apparatus

In a token-ring-type local area network (LAN), a plurality of communication nodes are linked together into a ring by a transmission path, onto which a token used for obtaining a transmission right is circulating through and a frame carrying data is transferred through. Herein, the token has a first memory area for memorizing a ring priority, while the frame has a second memory area for memorizing a reservation priority corresponding to a data priority of the data owned by each communication node. When a current communication node receives the token, the frame is generated and transmitted therefrom without transmitting the token if the data priority is higher than the reservation priority. When the current communication node receives the frame, the data priority of the current communication node is written into the second memory area of the frame if the data priority is higher than the reservation priority. Transmission of the frame is stopped and thereby a new token is generated having the reservation priority of the frame when the data priority of the current node is lower than the reservation priority of the frame which is now transmitted from the current node and then recovered by the current node. Preferably, the frame of data can be transferred in the LAN based on the frame-division manner.
