A compact and simple elevator system is provided which requires no counterweight and no machine room, and which is most suitable for installation in small buildings such as private homes. The elevator system comprises: a hoistway; an elevator car accommodated in the hoistway and movable in the vertical direction; a screw shaft vertically disposed in the hoistway and having a screw thread formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof; a rotary element mounted on the elevator car and adapted to be threadedly engaged with the screw shaft; a drive source mounted on the elevator car for driving the rotary element to rotate; and a mechanism for restraining the rotation of the screw shaft at least in the normal operating condition of the elevator system, whereby when the rotary element is driven to rotate by means of the drive source, it is caused to displace vertically along the screw shaft thereby to move the elevator car in the vertical direction. An emergency operation device may be provided which is adapted to be connected with the screw shaft in an emergency situation for turning the screw shaft so that the rotary element threadedly engaged with the screw shaft is caused to displace vertically along the screw shaft thereby to move the rotary element and hence the elevator car in the vertical direction.

Elevator system

A compact and simple elevator system is disclosed which does not require a counterweight, a hoistway rope, a winding drum, safety devices such as an emergency stopping device, a speed governor or the like, and in which the installation space as well as the production costs thereof can be reduced, and which is most suitable for installation in private homes. The elevator system comprises a hoistway, an elevator car accommodated in the hoistway and movable in the vertical direction, a screw shaft vertically disposed in the hoistway and having a screw thread formed on the outer peripheral surface thereof, a rotary element mounted on the elevator car and adapted to be threadedly engaged with the screw shaft, a drive source mounted on the elevator car for driving the rotary element to rotate, and a mechanism for restraining the rotation of the screw shaft at least in the normal operating condition of the elevator system, whereby when the rotary element is driven to rotate by means of the drive source, it is caused to displace vertically along the screw shaft to thereby move the elevator car in the vertical direction.

An improved operating panel device for an elevator system is disclosed which can be constructed with a limited depth, and which involves no mechanically operating parts at those portions which are to be manipulated by passengers, providing a substantially extended service life, and which is also durable and relatively immune to vandalism or rough operation by passengers. The operating panel device comprises: an indicator panel having a plurality of indication marks described thereon; a plurality of first light-emitting elements for emitting light signals which pass along a surface of the indicator panel across the indication marks; and a plurality of light-receiving elements for receiving the light signals from the first light-emitting elements whereby when at least one of the light signals emitted from the first light-emitting elements passing across a specific one of the indication marks on the indicator panel is selectively interrupted, the light-receiving elements detects such a selective interruption of the at least one light signal and sends out to an appropriate control system an operation command signal corresponding to the specific indication mark.

Operating panel device for an elevator system

An elevator system wherein installed within the elevator shaft are a governor and a guide wheel at the lower and upper portions, respectively, a governor wire rope extending therebetween to which is connected an actuation mechanism for a safety device of the cage, and structure for tensioning the governor wire rope is arranged in the non-operating part thereof extending between the connecting part of the rope to the actuation mechanism and the governor the tensioning structure includes a spring to give a simplified constitution and allow the governor wire rope to be disposed within a narrow space. Disposed at the connecting portion of the governor wire rope to the actuation mechanism is a vibration absorbing mechanism so that the actuation of the safety device due to vibration of the cage is prevented.
