An information terminal incorporates a network interface and an extension interface, and in the case of outside call, an audio send signal is modulated into an audio signal frequency band, and sent to the exchange through a private telephone line and a subscriber's line by way of the network interface. An audio receive signal sent from the exchange through the subscriber's line and private telephone line is demodulated into an ordinary audio frequency band through the network interface. On the other hand, in the case of extension service, an audio send signal is converted into a packetized digital signal by an extension interface circuit, and is further modulated into a higher frequency band so as not to overlap with the audio signal frequency band, and is transmitted through the private telephone line.

Information terminal and information terminal system

A data terminal, a data distributing system, and an Internet telephoning system are provided where desired data such as advertisements can selectively be determined and used for enjoying its relevant services. The data terminal receives a summary of service data from a data provider apparatus over the Internet, and if desired, demands the data provider apparatus to provide the service data over the Internet. The service data from the data provider apparatus may selectively be received in at least one of an audio form, a text form, and a video form at the data terminal. The service data may be advertisement data, commercial product data, and entertainment data such as music, movies, and games. The entertainment data may selectively be presented as at least one of the title, the artist name, the cost, and a trial sample piece of the content.

Data terminal, data distribution system, and internet telephone system

A calling side ISDN terminal adapter (TA) judges if Internet call is possible or not when the telephone number of a destination side telephone set is specified by a calling side telephone set. If judged possible, a predetermined number, and ciphered Internet connection member identification number and password are set on the sub-address of call setting, and sent out to a destination side ISDN TA. When receiving the predetermined number, the destination side ISDN TA rings the bell of the destination side telephone set, and when it is off the hook, it connects to the destination side access point by the Internet connection member identification number and password, and notifies the calling side ISDN TA by putting the destination side IP address acquired at the destination side access point on the sub-address of call setting.

Internet telephone system

An Internet telephone apparatus which is capable of processing an Internet connection to an Internet telephone or to personal computer communications without requiring the installation of an additional public line, so that a cost for extension of a line and maintenance of the extended line can be eliminated. This Internet telephone apparatus has an incoming call determination unit for determining, based on information in a call setting message from a user, generated when a call is originated, whether the call is an incoming call directed to an access server for controlling communications such as personal computer communications or the like or an incoming call directed to an Internet telephone control unit for controlling the Internet telephone.

Internet telephone apparatus and internet telephone gateway system

To prevent a calling party from paying an Internet connection fee when a called party is busy, in an Internet telephone, a call setting message including a sub-address to the called party is used to notify the called party of an incoming call which can be placed through the Internet. ISDN terminal adapters of the calling party and the called party are automatically connected to access points to the Internet to reduce the telephone rate when using the Internet.
