A scanning optical apparatus includes a light emitting device for emitting a laser beam, a deflection device for deflecting the laser beam and a pair of imaging lenses for scanning a photosensitive member by the deflected laser beam. Each of the imaging lenses has an abutment reference plane so arranged that they are urged toward opposite directions to abut respectively on abutment reference sections formed inside an optical cabinet by an urging member disposed as bridging the imaging lenses.

An image recording/reproducing apparatus is designed to be loaded with a cartridge accommodating a recording medium such as an optical or magnetic disk.
