A V type engine embodying an improved compound manifolding system wherein the manifolding system mates with a horizontally extending surface of each cylinder head with the cylinder heads horizontally extending surfaces lying in the same plane for each of attachment, assembly and fit.

Manifold attachment

An improved induction system for a V type engine that is tuned for substantially all running conditions and which is nevertheless compact in construction. The system includes a pair of air boxes each disposed adjacent one of the cylinder heads of the engine. Each cylinder head has at least two intake passages serving the respective cylinder bores and a first conduit extends from the adjacent air box to one of the intake passages and a second conduit extends from the other of the air boxes to the other intake passage. A throttle valve arrangement is also incorporated so that good performance is achieved under all running conditions.

Intake means of internal combustion engine

A driving arrangement for a motor vehicle having a transversely disposed V-type four camshaft internal combustion engine. The camshafts are all driven in timed relationship with the crankshaft with a first flexible transmitter being operative to drive the intake camshafts of each cylinder bank at the same end of the engine from the crankshaft. The exhaust camshafts of each bank are driven by the intake camshafts at the opposite end of the engine.

Valve driving means for V-type engine of vehicle

An induction system for an internal combustion engine that improves efficiency through increasing flame propagation at low and medium speeds and loads. This is accomplished through the use of a relatively small cross sectional area auxiliary induction system through which at least a portion of the charge requirements are supplied. The small cross sectional area causes the charging to be introduced at a high velocity, thus increasing turbulence in the intake charge to promote rapid flame propagation when the spark plug is fired. At least a portion of the idle charge is also delivered through the main induction passage so as to reduce the velocity of the intake charge. The charge delivered through the main induction system flows at an angle to that discharged from the auxiliary induction system so that the two flow paths will create internal turbulence due to their different directions.

Intake control system for internal combustion engine

A carburetor comprising catching means for catching fuel deposited on the inner wall of a main air passage in the form of liquid and then flowing downstream therefrom and a passage means for delivering the liquid fuel thus caught to a carburetor throat, wherein the recovered liquid fuel is again ejected into the main air passage through an opening formed at one end of said passage means by negative pressure in the carburetor throat.
