A process for producing a spherical zeolite catalyst is disclosed, which comprises dropping a zeolite-containing alumina sol into a surfactant-containing oil phase from a dropping opening directly or through air to thereby form spherical droplets of the sol, and then allowing the droplets to gel in an aqueous alkaline solution phase underlying the oil phase and withdrawing the thus gelled droplets, said dropping of the sol being conducted while the dropping opening is being impulsed to thereby impart a spherical and uniform shape to the resulting zeolite particles containing alumina as a binder, and a novel apparatus therefor.

A process head for use in an electrophotographic apparatus and adapted for conducting developing process with a developer on an electrophotographic film in a developing section of the electrophotographic apparatus. The developing section is surrounded by a seal section. An air pump is provided for supplying the seal section with a seal gas selectively at a low pressure higher than the pressure in the developing section and, hence, capable of preventing developer from leaking out of the developing section and a high pressure higher than the low pressure and high enough to drive the seal gas into the developing section. In consequence, leaking of developer out of the developing section is avoided and the seal gas under the high pressure comes into the developing section so as to ensure the complete removal of unnecessary portion of the developing agent.

Processing head for electrophotographic apparatus

A developing method in an electrophotographic apparatus in which an image on an electrophotographic film brought into a developing section is developed by a developer supplied to the developing section. During the development, a seal gas of a pressure higher than the pressure in the developing section is supplied to a seal section around the developing section so that the seal gas is forced to flow into the developing chamber to stir the developer in the developing section, thus eliminating any degradation of the quality of the developed image attributable to stagnation of the developer.

Developing method for electrophotographic apparatus

A continuous process for the production of a solvent for use in the liquefaction of coal is described. The process comprises hydrogenating a mixture of 100 parts by weight of a hydrocarbon mixture and from 0.2 to 10 parts by weight of phenol and/or alkylphenol. The hydrocarbon mixture contains at least 50% by weight of a polycyclic (from tricyclic to pentacyclic) aromatic hydrocarbon or its alkyl derivative. The hydrocarbon mixture is distilled away in a proportion of at least 80% when heated at a temperature of from 320.degree. to 550.degree. C. The hydrogenation of the hydrocarbon mixture and phenol and/or alkylphenol may be carried out with or without the addition of from 0.05 to 0.5% by weight (calculated as sulfur) of an easily desulfurizable sulfur compound in a high temperature and pressure hydrogen atmosphere in the presence of a catalyst containing the sulfide(s) of Group VIII metal and/or Group VI metal of the Periodic Table to prepare a partially hydrogenated product resulting from the partial hydrogenation of the aromatic ring of the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon or its alkyl derivative.
