This invention provides a support for photographic paper being excellent in whiteness and flatness and inexpensive, and having a sufficient adhesive strength of resin which can be generated even at a low resin temperature of 200 to 280&deg; C. through a high speed processing of 100 m/min or more, which comprises a base having a whiteness of 75% or more and a flatness Ra of 20 &mgr;m or less, and a polyolefin resin composition membrane comprising a polyolefin resin and unsaturated bond at a rate of 0.2 or more unsaturated bonds per 1,000 carbon atoms.

Support for photographic paper and its production

The present invention relates to a laminated member comprising a polyethylene resin composition layer having a very high adhesive strength to a substrate, and a method for manufacturing the same. The present invention is directed to a method for manufacturing the laminated member, which has a high adhesive strength to a different kind of substrate within a range from low to high temperature, and can reduce the resin temperature during the extrusion-lamination molding and inhibit any noxious influence on the working and surrounding environments, and is also superior in terms of high-speed mold ability at low temperature, and the laminated member. In the present invention, a compound having a specific structure is incorporated into a polyethylene resin composition layer. The present invention can be used to particular advantage in laminate products such as packaging material.

This invention provides a method of producing a biaxially stretched polyester film with regulating casting conditions of a polyester film at a high speed so as not to induce surface defects caused by entrapping air microbubbles between a cooling drum and a molten resin sheet, and regulating longitudinal stretching conditions and lateral stretching conditions. The biaxially stretched polyester film is excellent in small thickness variation, resistance to cleavage and improvement in bowing phenomenon, and is particularly suitable for the support of a photographic film.

Method of producing biaxially stretched polyester film

The present invention improves the bowing phenomenon of a biaxially stretched polyester film which comprises stretching the longitudinally stretched cast film laterally at a temperature higher than the glass transition temperature of the polyester film from by 5&deg; C. to by 50&deg; C., staying the laterally stretched film in an intermediate zone for a period from 3 to 30 seconds which has been controlled at a temperature from higher than the lateral stretching temperature by 20&deg; C. or more to lower than a heat setting temperature by 20&deg; C. or less, and then heat-setting at the heat setting temperature which is lower than the melting point of the polyester film from by 30&deg; C. to by 5&deg; C.

Method for forming multilayer sheets and extrusion die therefor

A resin-coated support sheet favorably employable as a support sheet of image recording material is prepared by the steps of mixing and kneading a polyolefin resin with titanium dioxide under heating to obtain a kneaded mixture, cooling the kneaded mixture, treating the cooled mixture to give pellets, mixing and kneading the pellets with a polyolefin resin under heating to give a diluted mixture, extruding the diluted mixture through a slit of an extruder die, and coating the extruded mixture on a support sheet, wherein the step for giving the diluted mixture starts within 30 minutes after the kneaded mixture is obtained.

Preparation of resin-coated support

In a coating method and apparatus for applying coating liquid onto a web, the coating apparatus includes a rotating member rotatable and contacting with the web; and a support member supporting rotatably the rotating member and including a liquid reservoir formed between the rotating member and the support member, a fluid supply pipe, a cavity filled with the coating liquid and connecting to the fluid supply pipe, and a slit communicating the cavity with the liquid reservoir. The rotating member is supported by a fluid pressure of the liquid reservoir and the coating liquid supplied from the liquid reservoir forms a bead of the coating liquid by the rotating member between the web and the rotating member. The rotating member is floated uniformly in the widthwise direction by the fluid pressure so as to keep a predetermined clearance away from the support member to provide a stable coating. The bead is made uniform in the widthwise direction under any conditions.

Coating method and coating apparatus including uniformly floating

An improved method for forming a multilayer sheet or multilayer film and an improved forming die apparatus, include making the thickness of the multilayer sheet or multilayer film uniform along the width. In the forming die apparatus, an elastic choke bar is disposed in a passage of the melted resin along the width of the passage. A plurality of bolt members are arranged to abut against the choke bar. The choke bar is pushed and pulled by each bolt member, and a part of the choke bar corresponding to the bolt member is bent with regard to the passage. Thereby, the clearance along the width of the passage can be adjusted for every bolt member.

Method for forming multilayer sheet or multilayer film

Disclosed is a photographic printing paper support having waterproof resin layers on both sides of a substrate, with the waterproof resin layer on the emulsion-coated side comprising at least an upper layer containing from 5 to 25% by weight of titanium oxide and from 0 to 0.56% by weight of a blueing agent and a lower layer containing substantially no titanium oxide but containing from 0.05 to 0.60% by weight of a blueing agent, and wherein the upper layer contains less blueing agent than the lower layer.

Photographic printing paper support

Improved process for producing a support for recording material comprising the steps of calendering a base paper including 1.8%-10.0% water content under nip pressure from 400 kg/cm to 3000 kg/cm at the roller temperature from 10.degree. C. to 140.degree. C., and extusion coating the base paper with melted thermoplastic resin is proposed. The support produced by the process is superior in surface smoothness and glossiness. Upon using it for a recording material, excellent image with less unevenness can be obtained without using heat calendering at excessively high temperature after the coating.

Process for producing support for recording material

A coating apparatus for coating a predetermined amount of a coating liquid uniformly onto a continuously running web, said coating apparatus being formed of a ceramic material obtained by sintering at a temperature of not less than 1,000.degree. C., said ceramic material having a coefficient of linear thermal expansion of not more than 11.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree. C. at temperatures of 25.degree. to 500.degree. C., and said ceramic material having a Vickers hardness of not less than 700 kg/mm.sup.2.

Low mass, thermally stable coating apparatus

Apparatus and method for applying a high volatility liquid to a moving web to form a coating on the web. The coating liquid is applied to the web through an extrusion-type or slide-type hopper covered by a hood which collects evaporated gas from the applied solvent at a region at which a solid-, liquid-, and gas-phase interface of the coating liquid is formed. The collected gas is utilized to suppress further gas evaporation from the three-phase interface thereby preventing the formation of stripe-like defects due to undesirable solidification of the forming liquid.
