Continuous casting method and apparatus thereof

A method of cooling a martensitic steel pipe by cooling the inner and outer surface substantially equally while rotating the pipe around the axis, wherein the cooling rate is 8.degree. C./s or higher. The inner surface is preferably cooled by passing water without completely filling the inside of pipe. The maximum cooling rate at the both surfaces is 35.degree. C./s or lower for a martensitic stainless steel pipe. The 2-step cooling method of a martensitic stainless steel pipe, comprising the 1st air cooling where the pipe is cooled from 30.degree. C. lower than Ms(martensitic transformation start temp.) to the average of Ms and Mf(martensitic transformation finish temp.) and 2nd intensive water cooling where the the pipe is cooled down below Mf. The 3-step cooling method comprising 1st intensive cooling where the pipe is cooled from Ms+400.degree. C. to Ms, 2nd mild cooling where the pipe is cooled from Ms to the average of Ms and Mf, and 3rd intensive cooling to the Mf.

The present invention relates to a metal-ceramic composite for use in a high temperature and a abrasion-resisting member such as a supporting member of a heating furnace having a construction, in which ceramic particles having superior abrasion resistance and heat resistance are dispersed in a metallic matrix having superior toughness or ceramic blocks are buried in a metallic surface, whereby the characteristics of a ceramic and a metal are simultaneously utilized. A metal-ceramic composite superior in physical characteristic, such as abrasion resistance and heat resistance, and a method of producing the same are provided.

The present invention relates to a heat-resisting supporting member, such as a skid button, for supporting a heated material, such as a steel plate, in a high-temperature atmosphere within a heating furnace and the like and provides a heat-resisting supporting member in which a peripheral surface of a lower corner portion of a supporting aggregate formed of heat-resisting alloys with single ceramics, ceramic particles or ceramic bars dispersed therein or heat-resisting alloy-impregnated ceramics formed by impregnating air-pores of porous ceramics with heat-resisting alloys is coated with heat-resisting alloys so as to be capable of being welded to other members while the remaining peripheral surface of the supporting aggregate is coated with a shock-resisting substance formed of heat-resisting alloys, heat-resisting alloys with ceramic particles dispersed therein or heat-resisting alloy-impregnated ceramics. A heat-resisting supporting member according to the present invention is superior in insulating property and high-temperature compression resistance.
