An automobile door is provided with a glass run that seals a peripheral part of a door glass which moves up and down. A garnish is mounted along a door frame on a vehicle-interior side thereof. The glass run includes an extension wall portion formed to extend from an end of a vehicle-interior side wall portion in a molded part of a corner portion thereof, and a catching portion that is formed in the vicinity of an inner peripheral side end part of the extension wall portion to extend to protrude into a vehicle-interior and that is caught on a folded portion of the garnish. The extension wall portion includes a deforming portion configured to be thinner than a general part of the extension wall portion.

Glass run

The present invention relates to a trim or a seal member such as an opening trim weather strip. The trim or a trim body in the seal member has a holding lip portion and modified holding lip portions. And the holding lip portion and modified holding lip portions have head portions. The head portions are made to bulge out toward a bottom wall portion at the tip ends of modified holding lip portions of the trim or the trim body of trim portion. The modified holding lip portions are formed so that projecting lengths of the head portions from the end surfaces of tip end portions of the modified holding lip portions, and the thicknesses of the head portions increase in inverse proportion to lip projecting lengths of the modified holding lip portions from an inner surface of an interior side wall portion. Alternatively, a slope inclined with respect to an extension plane of an opening-portion-side surface of a base end portion is formed at tip ends of the modified holding lip portions. The slope is formed so that the inclination angle with respect to the extension plane increases in accordance with the projecting lengths of the modified holding lip portions.

Trim and seal member

A weather strip for an automobile comprising a trim portion securable to a flange of an automobile. The trim portion has a holding piece and a concave portion. The concave portion is disposed at a base portion of the holding piece and is in contact with an end of the flange. The concave portion is cooperable with the end of the flange to enable the trim portion to be slidably rotatable with respect to the end of the flange when being secured to the flange. An adhesive is provided at an inner surface of the holding piece for adhering the trim portion to the flange.

Weather strip for an automobile and a method for assembling the same

A seal structure for a front door of a motor vehicle provided with a door mirror bracket at a front end of a door belt line is composed of a roof weather strip attached along a door opening of a car body, and a door weather strip attached along a periphery of a door panel. The door weather strip is provided with an end portion covering a lower portion of the door mirror bracket and a front upper end of a door inner panel to which a lower end of the door mirror bracket is jointed. An upper part of the end portion has a thickness large enough to fill the step between the door mirror bracket and the door inner panel whereby the end portion of the door weather strip has a continuous smooth surface from its lower part to its upper part to effect a good seal with the opposed roof weather strip when the front door is closed.

Seal structure for motor vehicle

A weather strip attached along a door opening of a motor vehicle for sealing between the door opening and a periphery of a door glass has a strip-shaped extruded portion, and a molded end portion jointed to a lower end of the extruded portion. The strip-shaped extruded portion has a longitudinally extending tubular main seal portion and a lip-shaped seal portion which defines a concave groove with the main seal portion. The molded end portion has an extended concave groove extending from the concave groove of the strip-shaped extruded portion to a rear side edge of the molded end portion. During running of a vehicle in rainy weather or during washing of the vehicle, water leaking into the concave groove flows along the extended concave groove and is drained out therefrom without staying at an end of the extended concave groove thereby preventing water from intruding into a vehicle compartment when a vehicle door is opened or closed.

Weather strip for motor vehicle

A weather strip to be attached to a flange formed along a door opening or a door frame of a motor vehicle, having a trim portion, a sealing portion formed on an outer surface of the trim portion, and two flange retaining lips projecting from each of opposed inner surfaces of the trim portion inwardly for holding the flange. A notch is defined longitudinally in a root portion of one flange retaining lip projecting from adjacent and open end of one of the opposed inner surfaces, which is on the opposite side of the trim portion from the sealing portion. When the weather strip is attached to a thicker flange, the one flange retaining lip is ripped off along the notch.

A weather strip for mounting on a flange provided along a peripheral edge portion of an opening in a body of an automobile, including a trim portion of a U-shaped cross-section for being fitted on the flange, the trim portion having a pair of opposed side walls and holder lips which are formed on the inner surface of each of the opposed side walls and extend to the opposite side wall; a seal portion formed on an outer surface of one of the side walls which is adapted to be directed toward the exterior of the automobile body when the weather strip is mounted on the flange, the seal portion projecting outwardly from a generally central portion of the one side wall and being adapted to be pressed against a closure member for closing the opening; a seal lip extending from a distal end of the one side wall so as to be pressed against a portion of a body panel extending along the flange; and a core member embedded in the trim portion, the core member having a row of core elements spaced at a predetermined distance from one another. The core member has connective portions interconnecting the core elements so that when the trim portion is bent along a corner portion of the peripheral edge portion of the opening, the connective portions being either disposed in the one side wall and disposed inwardly of the neutral axis of the bending or disposed in the other side wall and disposed outwardly of the neutral axis.

Weather strip for use in automobile

A door weather strip attached along a periphery of a rear door panel of a motor vehicle has a strip-shaped tubular main portion and a molded rear end portion connected to a rear end of the strip-shaped tubular main portion. The molded rear end portion is attached over a rear upper end portion of a door inner panel so as to cover a child lock lever hole formed in the rear upper end portion, and has an opening at the position corresponding to the child lock lever hole thereby enabling a child lock lever to slidably project therefrom.

Door weather strip for motor vehicle

A method for producing a weather strip of which the sectional shape is continuously changed in its longitudinal direction, has the steps of simultaneously extruding two rubber members out of two outlet ports formed in an extrusion head of an extruder so as to be close to and parallel with each other, each of the two rubber members having a uniform sectional shape in each longitudinal direction, corresponding to each of two pieces obtained by cutting the weather strip in its longitudinal direction, overlapping opposed side portions of the two extruded rubber members, joining the overlapped portion to obtain a joined weather strip of which the sectional shape is continuously changed in its longitudinal direction, and feeding the joined weather strip into a vulcanizing bath to be vulcanized. The overlapping step and the joining step are performed by feeding the two extruded rubber members between a receiving roller disposed in front of the extruding outlets, and a pressing roller disposed directly above the receiving roller. The receiving roller has a guide groove in its outer periphery, of which the width is changed in the peripheral direction of the roller, and the pressing roller presses the overlapped portion of the two extruded rubber members within the guide groove of the receiving roller.

Method for producing a weather strip for an automobile

A weather strip to be installed around an opening of an automobile, has a trim portion of a letter U-shaped section, which is composed of parallel side walls and a bottom wall connecting the side walls, and a seal portion projecting from an outer surface of one of the parallel side walls, which is positioned on the outside of the automobile when the trim portion is mounted on a flange formed around the opening. The bottom wall is inclined in such a direction as to make an acute angle with the one side wall. In the weather strip wherein the bottom wall is inclined with respect to the side walls, the trim portion can be prevented from twisting and leaning even when being curved along the corner portion, and mounted thereon. And at this time, good sealing properties can be maintained together with good external appearance.

Weather strip for automobile

A weather strip for an automobile has a base portion to be installed along an opening of the automobile for a door, and a hollow sealing portion to be pressed by an outer peripheral edge of the door. One portion of the hollow sealing portion is formed into a molded portion by molding. The molded portion has a slit through which a core for forming the molded portion hollow is drawn out, and a partition wall longitudinally partitioning an inner space of the molded portion and separating the slit in the middle thereof. The partition wall extends straight in the direction inclined with respect to the door pressing direction. According to the weather strip of the present invention, the separated slit is not widely opened at the door pressing time by virtue of the partition wall, and accordingly, uniform flexibility can be obtained over the whole length of the molded portion since the partition wall is inclined with respect to the door pressing direction.
