A double-sided image forming apparatus having first and second input devices respectively for entering function data for desired image formation functions and for entering the number of copies to be formed. A memory is provided to store the function data, and a storage compartment is provided to store sheets during duplex copying. An image forming device is arranged to operate in two procedures: a first procedure in which image formation is effected on the sheet's first side in accordance with first function data, and a second procedure in which image formation is effected on the other side in accordance with a second, different, function data. A controller controls the image forming device so that entry of number data and function data is permitted before the first procedure begins, but so that entry of only function data and not number data is permitted after completion of the first procedure. A detecting device is provided to detect the presence of sheets in the storage compartment, and the controller operates until sheets are no longer detected.

Double-side image forming apparatus

A double-side image forming apparatus has input unit for entering the number of desired image formation for forming images on both faces of a sheet-shaped image bearing member and a storage section for storing said image bearing member after image formation on a first face thereof. The apparatus is adapted, when the image formation on the first face of said image bearing members is interrupted before the completion of said desired number of image formations, to conduct in continuation the image formation on the second face of the image bearing members stored in said storage section.

An image information device of a construction wherein there are provided a laser oscillator; a modulator capable of modulating a laser beam oscillated from the laser oscillator by an external signal; a photosensitive body consisting essentially of an insulating layer, a photoconductive layer, and an electrically conductive substrate; a principal scanning means such as a polygonal revolving mirror, galvano-mirror, etc. to cause the modulated laser beam to scan the photosensitive body in the principal scanning direction; an optical system to cause the laser beam to focus on the photosensitive body; a position detection means to establish a commencing position of the scanning laser beam on the photosensitive body; means to input an image signal into the modulator in synchronism with the principal scanning means by an output from the position detection means; means to electrically charge the photosensitive body; corona discharge means to impress on the photosensitive body an A.C. corona discharge or a D.C. corona discharge having an opposite polarity to the above-mentioned electric charge simultaneously with, or immediately before, or immediately after, the scanning of the photosensitive body with the laser beam; means to effect overall exposure of the photosensitive body; means to develop an electrostatic latent image formed by the abovementioned means; means to transfer the latent image onto an image transfer material; and means to clean the photosensitive body.

A method and an apparatus for color conversion capable of converting a particular color of an image original into another color as desired, in which indication is made as to what color of the image original colors other than that designated for the color conversion can be converted into, and, on the basis of this indication, designation for the color conversion in the image original colors other than that previously designated can be done, and, further, on the basis of this color conversion designation, a set of the color-separation filter and the developing color can be automatically selected.

Method and apparatus for color conversion

A fixing device comprises a pair of rollers for heating and pressing a copy medium carrying a toner image thereon, a control gear, a planet gear meshing with the control gear and revolvable about the control gear, means for revolving the planet gear, and means responsive to the revolutional movement of the planet gear to displace the pair of rollers between a first position in which they are in pressure contact with each other and a second position in which they are not in pressure contact with each other.

A device for handling output information from an electronic computer or the like at high speed utilizing a light beam, said device including a modulator for modulating a light beam in accordance with an image information signal such as a character, design or other output from a computer or the like, a medium for receiving the modulated light beam, means such as a galvanometer mirror for causing the modulated beam to scan the medium and optical means between the modulator and the scanning means for directing the modulated beam along any one of a plurality of light paths extending to the medium, the optical means being effective to vary the image forming characteristics such as image magnification of the beam incident on the medium.

Image information handling device

This specification discloses a method and apparatus for imaging light on a medium to form a plurality of information elements which in turn form a particular character or other image information. A plurality of light beams are formed and are modulated by information signals and then the light beams are deflected by scanning means to scan a medium, the beams being modulated in such a manner that the same modulation is applied to a predetermined number of the light beams in accordance with a desired size of the information elements formed on the medium, and wherein the size of the information elements, defined by adjacent rows of identical light spots, is changed by varying the number of light beams receiving the same modulation.

Laser recording process

This invention is directed to an electrophotographic copying machine capable of copying small originals such as ID cards. The copying machine includes a recording medium carrier having a cover by which a recording medium is placed within the carrier at a first location before the copying operation is begun and guide rails along which the enclosed recording medium is then driven for the imposition of a uniform charge and a latent image to a second location where the cover is opened and the recording medium is removed and developed while the carrier is returned to the first location.
