A cut flower is immersed in an aqueous solution containing chloroisocyanuric acid or its salt. By this treatment, freshness of the color and gloss of the cut flower is maintained over a long period and a high life-prolonging effect is attained.

Disclosed is a process for the preparation of a 1-benzylimidazole compound represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.2 represents a lower alkyl group or phenyl group, and R.sub.4 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, which comprises heating and to react a 1-unsubstituted imidazole compound represented by the following general formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sub.2 and R.sub.4 are as defined above, with benzyl alcohol in the presence of a carboxylic acid, a carboxylic anhydride, a benzyl ester thereof or a lower alkyl ester thereof, and neutralizing the reaction product with an alkali.

Process for preparation of 1-benzylimidazole compound

Disclosed is a positively chargeable toner comprising, as a charge-controlling agent, an acid adduct, metal complex or derivative of a 2-alkylimidazole represented by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.2 stands for an alkyl group having 11 through 17 carbon atoms, and R.sub.4 stands for a hydrogen atom or a methyl group. In this toner, a high charge-controlling effect is attained with a small amount of the charge-controlling agent, and since the charge-controlling agent has a white color or light color, this toner is advantageously used as an electrostatic photographic toner for the color printing.

Disclosed is a 2-substituted-4,6-diamino-s-triazine/isocyanuric acid adduct represented by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R stands for an alkyl group having 2 to 20 carbon atoms, an unsubstituted or cyano group-substituted aryl group, or a group of the formula R.sup.1 --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- in which R.sup.1 stands for an alkoxy group having up to 20 carbon atoms, an acyloxy group, an amino group, an N-substituted amino group, a benzotriazolyl group or a 2-alkylimidazolyl-(4)-dithiocarbonyl group, or by the following formula: ##STR2## wherein R.sup.2 stands for an alkylene group which may have an intervening imino or phenylene group. When this adduct is used for curing a polyepoxy resin, a cured product having good heat resistance, insulating property and adhesion and an excellent migration-preventing effect is formed.

An epoxy resin composition comprising an epoxy resin, either 2-vinyl-4,6-diamino-s-triazine or 2-vinyl-4,6-diamino-s-triazine/isocyanuric acid adduct, and at least one compound selected from dicyandiamide, polyvinyl-p-phenol and specific imidazole compounds. The composition is useful, for example, in inks, insulating paints and adhesives for printed circuit base boards and in copper-clad laminated boards.
