A red-eye phenomenon preventing device includes a light emitting part for flash photography, a light emitting part for preventing the red-eye phenomenon, a reflection shade arranged to surround the light emitting part for flash photography and the light emitting part for preventing the red-eye phenomenon, and a protector disposed in front of the light emitting part for flash photography and the light emitting part for preventing the red-eye phenomenon.

A camera comprises a first responsive circuit for initiating a red-eye phenomenon preventing illumination in response to a first stroke of operation on a shutter release button; a determining circuit for making a determination whether or not the red-eye phenomenon preventing illumination initiated by the first responsive circuit has lasted for a given period of time; and a second responsive circuit for initiating a flash photographing operation in response to a second stroke of operation on the release button and also to the determination made by the determining circuit that the red-eye phenomenon preventing illumination has lasted for the given period of time.

The present patent application discloses a flash device for camera, or a camera, including a light emitter for flash photography mounted about a pivot shaft on the camera body and a light condenser mounted about a pivot shaft on the photographic lens barrel which moves to vary the light distribution characteristics of the light emitter as the focal length of the photographic optical system varies, wherein when the flash device is in use, the light condenser moves as the focal length of the photographic optical system varies, thus making it possible to obtain the light distribution characteristic which is suited to the focal length of the photographic optical system, while when not in use, the light emitter and the light condenser are turned to be integrally housed in an appropriate plate of either the lens barrel or the camera body.

In the oscillating booster circuit of an electronic flash device for a camera arranged to boost the output of a DC low voltage source by a blocking oscillator circuit and to make it into a DC high voltage through a high voltage rectifier diode before a main capacitor of the flash device is charged therewith, a booster circuit operation display arrangement is operated solely by the spike voltage of the booster circuit to stably display the operating state of the booster circuit.

A flash device for a camera of the kind using a miniature lamp type flash tube solves all the problems resulting from the use of the straight tube type flash tube. The disclosed arrangement of the flash device not only ensures an adequate light distributing characteristic in all the vertical and lateral directions but also permits reduction in size of an electronic flash unit.

The enclosed electronic flash device for a camera includes a booster circuit connectible to an electrical power source or battery, a high voltage rectifier diode for rectifying the output of the booster circuit, and a storage capacitor. A main power supply switch and an auxiliary power supply switch are connected in series between the negative poles of the power source and capacitor. The auxiliary power supply switch is arranged to close when the flash device is attached to the camera. A signal terminal is connected to the negative pole of the storage capacitor through other circuit elements and another signal terminal is connected to one contact of the auxiliary power supply switch, which is connected in turn to the negative pole of the storage capacitor. The auxiliary power supply switch is connected in series with the main power supply switch at a point farther from the negative terminal of the battery than the main power supply switch.

A flash shot control device for a camera in which the angle of flash lighting is controlled in accordance with the output of a backlight detector. On assumption that a subject of principal photographic interest takes its place at the center of the field of view, when backlight is detected, the flash lighting is concentrated to the central portion of the field of view, thereby the shadows of the subject are lightened by the flash.

A delay which may take the form of a hydraulic flow restriction (either fixed or variable with a given parameter such as vehicle speed) or a suitable electronic delay circuit, is interposed between a device which outputs a signal indicative of the front wheels being steered and a device which is operatively connected with the rear wheels and which varies the orientation of the rear wheels in a manner to 'steer' same in response to the signal to control the yawing of the vehicle.

To control the compliance steering of the rear wheels of a vehicle during cornering or the like, a link member of the rear suspension arrangements supporting each of the rear road wheels, is provided with a servo mechansim which can vary the length thereof in a manner which tends to steer the rear wheel associated therewith in the same direction as the front wheels are turned to produce the cornering.

The pressure outputs of a power steering control valve are fed either to hydraulic cylinders (or servos) or to chambered elastomeric insulator units to, in the case of the rear wheels, produce a bias which opposes a side force produced during cornering to prevent the rear wheels from undergoing 'compliance steering', while in the case of front wheels, induce same to turn through an angle slightly greater than intended by the driver to either prevent compliance steering or increase same to improve vehicle handling when cornering respectively .

Compliance steer control system

A flash device of the type in which the flash tube is coated with a trigger electrode and is positioned in contact with the back metal constituting part of the reflector so that when the trigger signal is applied directly to the back metal, the flash tube is triggered. In this type of flash device the back metal constituting part of the reflector is configured to a round shape. Because of the necessity of insuring good light distribution it is generally made of bright alloy aluminum. This not only makes it difficult to finely adjust the position of the flash tube relative to the back metal and electrically connect the trigger wire lead with the back metal, but also gives rise to a problem of electrically insulating the back metal from the other metallic parts since a very high voltage for triggering is applied to the back metal. The present invention provides a flash device which has solved the various problems by providing the back metal with embossed portions to adjust the position of the flash tube, by pressure-setting the connection of the trigger wire lead with the back metal, and by applying an electrically insulating coating on the back surface of the back metal.

Flash device

In the disclosed flash camera, a flash unit is movable between protruding and stowed positions, and a sensor senses whether a capacitor that flashes the unit is adequately charged. A switch and a control circuit enable the flash only when the unit is in the protruding position and the sensor simultaneously senses an adequate charge.

A control circuit for an electronic flash device is disclosed. The control circuit is connected to a commutating capacitor and includes a coil connected in parallel to the capacitor and switching means connected in the discharge path of the commutating capacitor to discharge the charge stored on the commutating capacitor after a switching device for stopping flash emission has changed from the conducting state to the non-conducting state.
