The height from floor surface contact ends of leg linkagesto shoulder joints of a biped robotwhen the biped robot is in an upright posture is defined to be a value falling within a range (Havg&#xb1;&#xbd;&#x3c3;) set based on an averaged value Havg obtained by averaging the heights of a group of objects (subject to operation) from the floor surface and the standard deviation &#x3c3; thereof, specifically a value in a range of from approximately 700 mm to 1000 mm. By this, the installation height of shoulder joints from the floor surface can be optimally determined in accordance with the heights of the objects, thereby improving operating efficiency in an existing operating space.

Biped robot

The vehicle seat and the steering wheel are shifted to the drive position when the door is open and to the getting in/out position when the door is opened, as long as the ignition key is inserted into the key cylinder without shifting the key at the accessory and ignition positions. Further, the seat and wheel are shifted to the drive position when the key is inserted into the key cylinder and to the getting in/out position when the key is removed therefrom, as long as the key is not shifted at the accessory and ignition positions. Further, the seat and wheel are shifted to the drive position when the key is shifted to the ignition position, as long as the key is inserted into the key cylinder and shifted at the accessory position. Furthermore, the seat and wheel are shifted to the drive position under door-closed condition and to the getting in/out position under door-open condition, when the key is shifted from the accessory position to the lock position, as long as the key is inserted into the key cylinder and not shifted at the ignition position.

Vehicle equipment position control system and the method therefor

A portion of the instrument panel which is adjacent to the steering wheel is protruded and in which portion a radio receiving device is fitted which includes station-number and frequency indicator means and control means for station selection and frequency adjustment. The indicator means are arranged in the front face of the protruded panel portion so as to enable the driver readily to take the indicator readings without the need of shifting his line of sight to any substantial extent. The control means are arranged in the protruded panel portion sidewise thereof, including, among others, a single control knob arranged in a position to be readily reached by the driver's hand for controlling operation.
