An electronic pen includes a tubular casing, a core body having an end that protrudes from opening in the casing, a strain generating body that receives a force applied to the core body, a plurality of strain sensitive elements arranged on a planar portion of the strain generating body, a control circuit that performs control based on a signal sensed using the plurality of strain sensitive elements, and an electrical conductor that extends in the axial direction of the casing and is electrically connected to a plurality of terminals of the plurality of strain sensitive elements. The plurality of strain sensitive elements is electrically connected to the control circuit via the electrical conductor.

Electronic pen

A position indicator includes a resonance circuit housed in a casing and having an inductance element and a capacitor variable in capacitance, such that the resonance circuit resonates at a predetermined frequency. The position indicator is electromagnetically coupled to a position detecting device. The capacitor includes a dielectric, an electrode disposed on one side of the dielectric, and a trimming electrode disposed on another side of the dielectric such that at least one part of a region of the trimming electrode is opposed to the electrode with the dielectric interposed in between, to form the capacitance of the capacitor. The capacitor is housed in the casing such that the at least one part can be exposed from the casing. The area of the at least one part exposed from the casing to the outside is changed so as to correspond to a resonance frequency desired for the resonance circuit.

A vehicle steering control device is provided that suppresses changes in the steering force accompanying the shock transmitted from the road surface during the steering wheel return operation. Steering control apparatus and method

A steering apparatus for a steerable vehicle includes a steering unit, an operating unit, a backup unit, and a control unit. The backup unit selectively connects/disconnects the steering unit and the operating unit. The control unit is operable in two control modes including an SBW mode and a PS mode. In the SBW mode, the control unit separates the steering unit from the operating unit; controls a steer angle of the vehicle in accordance with a manual steering effort; and switches the control mode from the SBW mode to the PS mode when an SBW-to-PS mode switch condition is satisfied, the SBW-to-PS mode switch condition including a condition that the steer angle is larger than or equal to a first threshold angle. In the PS mode, the control unit connects the steering unit and the operating unit; controls an assist steering effort to boost the manual steering effort.

Steering apparatus for steerable vehicle

A vehicle steering apparatus includes a steering input section having at least a steering wheel to which steering input is applied, and a steering output section having at least a steering rack shaft and operatively associated with left and right steered wheels for steering the steered wheels by steering-rack-shaft movement produced by a steering force determined based on the steering input and transmitted directly or indirectly to the steering rack shaft. The steering rack shaft is split into left and right movable rack shaft portions. Also provided is a steer angle converter enabling a differential rack stroke between left and right rack strokes of the left and right movable rack shaft portions. The steer angle converter is constructed by at least one of a variable-pitch dual rack arrangement and a dual taper-pulley arrangement of a cable back-up mechanism.

In a variable ratio steering system of a vehicle with a variable steering ratio mechanism varying a steering ratio R of steering wheel angle &#x3b8;to road wheel steer angle &#x3b8;at steered road wheels, a vehicle speed sensor, and a steering angle sensor, a steering ratio control unit controls the steering ratio according to a fixed steering ratio characteristic when the steering wheel angle &#x3b8;is less than or equal to a predetermined angle &#x3b8;substantially corresponding to a neutral position of a steering wheel. Conversely when the steering wheel angle &#x3b8;is greater than the predetermined angle &#x3b8;substantially corresponding to the neutral position of the steering wheel, the steering ratio control unit controls the steering ratio according to a vehicle-speed dependent steering ratio characteristic that a steering angle versus road wheel steer angle characteristic varies depending on a vehicle speed value.

Variable ratio steering system

A fail-safe steering system for a vehicle, which prevents movable elements of a backup mechanism from being dragged by motions of an associated one of a steering input section and a steering output section under normal operating conditions of the system, is provided. The fail-safe steering system includes two selectively engageable clutch mechanisms operatively connectable between the steering input section and the backup mechanism and between the backup mechanism and the steering output section. The fail-safe steering system also includes a mechanism for keeping the backup mechanism in the neutral condition during backup mechanism being mechanically separated under normal operating conditions of the system.

Fail-safe steering system for a vehicle

A vehicle steering system is provided with a primary steering system, a backup steering system and a control system that switches from the primary steering system to the backup steering system when a defect is determined in the primary steering system such as a defeat in a steering reaction force actuator. The vehicle steering system has a pair of clutches that mechanically disconnect the steering wheel from the steerable vehicle wheels in normal situations, and connect them when the steering reaction force actuator is determined to be defective. The control system has a steering malfunction detection section that detects a malfunction in the steering reaction force actuator, and a steering control limiting section that limits the control commands to the steering gear unit actuator from when the steering reaction force actuator is determined to be malfunctioning to when both the clutches are connected.

Vehicle steering system

In steering apparatus and method for an automotive vehicle, a turning section that turns steered road wheels is provided, a clutch is installed in a predetermined position in a midway through a steering system from an operation input section to the steered road wheels to link between the operation input section and the steered road wheels, a steering angle of the operation portion is detected, a turning angle is detected, an elastically deformable member is interposed between the operation portion and the turning portion to transmit a steering torque inputted from the operation input section to the steered road wheels when the clutch causes the operation input portion and the steered road wheels to be connected; and an angular deviation between the steering angle detection value and the turning angle detection value developed due to a deformation of the member is calculated.

Steering apparatus and method for automotive vehicle

It is the object of the present invention to provide a fixed earth station in which many antennas can be placed in a site area limited to one-several tenth of the conventional one. On a rotatable base 2, a plurality of antennas 1a to 1e are mounted. A control unit 4 controls the rotation angle of a drive unit for driving the base by the previously known orbital parameters of communication satellites. Further, the azimuth angle and the elevation angle of the respective antennas are controlled by antenna control units 5a to 5e, and the antennas catch and track communication satellites having appeared in the sky. As a result, the rotation angle of the base 2 can be set so that a beam accessing a satellite of a low elevation angle is not intercepted by other antennas. In addition, the area in which the antennas are placed can be reduced to about 1/50 of the conventional one. As other embodiments, there are an embodiment in which the antenna height is varied, an embodiment in which antennas are mounted on vehicles to change the position thereof, an embodiment in which antennas are made to travel on previously laid rails, etc.

Fixed earth station

An automatic choke system has a thermostatic spring connected to a choke valve, and a heater for heating the thermostatic spring so as to open the choke valve. A control circuit is provided for controlling the current passing through the heater. At starting of an engine, when cooling water temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature the control circuit operates to decrease the current so as to slowly open the choke valve. When the cooling water temperature is higher than a predetermined temperature, a rated current is supplied to the heater so as to quickly open the choke valve.

Automatic choke system for an automotive engine

An air-fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine has an electromagnetic valve for correcting the air-fuel ratio of air-fuel mixture, an O.sub.2 sensor for detecting oxygen concentration in exhaust gases, and a feedback control circuit including a pulse generating circuit for generating pulses, the duty ratio of which is dependent on the oxygen concentration. The system has an engine deceleration detecting circuit and a light load detecting circuit for producing a deciding signal. Pulses having a fixed duty ratio are applied to the electromagnetic valve in response to the deciding signal so as to enrich the air-fuel mixture at the deceleration when the throttle valve closes.

Air-fuel ratio control system

An air-fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine has an electromagnetic valve for correcting the air-fuel ratio of air-fuel mixture, and an O.sub.2 sensor for detecting oxygen concentration in exhaust gases. An engine coolant temperature sensor is provided for producing an engine temperature signal when the temperature is higher than a predetermined value, and an O.sub.2 sensor condition detecting circuit is provided for producing a non-activation signal when the O.sub.2 sensor is not activated. Engine restart operation is detected by the engine temperature signal and non-activation signal. When the restarting of the engine detected, pulses with a duty ratio of which is dependent on the coolant temperature are applied to the electromagnetic valve, so as to prevent extreme enrichment of the air-fuel mixture.
