A disk array unit connected to a host unit to give information thereto and receive information therefrom. The disk unit includes a plurality of disk units for storing information transmitted from the host unit and a management information recording device, formed by utilizing information storage areas in the disk units, for causing information relating to a logical unit for storing information from the host unit to correspond to information relating to the units. The invention further includes a control unit, when there is no access from the host unit to the logical unit for a predetermined time, for determining the disk units corresponding to the logical unit based on information recorded in the management information recording device and performing power saving of power supply for the disk units.

Times at which requests for a data read or data write from/to a logical volume are received are stored in memory as access times of a RAID group making up the logical volume. A radiation image capturing apparatus includes a cooling mechanism for causing cooling medium to flow from a rear surface side to a radiation detector to a front surface side of radiation detector through a narrow space formed between an end of the radiation detector and a casing for housing the radiation detector. It is therefore possible to cool the narrow space, as well as regions in the vicinity of the narrow space, with the cooling medium and to discharge the cooling medium from the front surface side of the radiation detector.

The invention relates to a radiation image capturing apparatus that includes a signal reading circuit for reading an image signal from a sensor substrate. The signal reading circuit includes a charge detecting circuit and a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of the charge detecting circuit, and controls the gain of a variable gain amplifier of the charge detecting circuit based on the detected temperature.

A radiation image capturing apparatus includes a housing for housing a radiation detector. The housing has a wall inclined with respect to a detection surface of the radiation detector, and the wall defines a space inclined with respect to the detection surface. The space allows heat transfer medium such as air of relatively high temperatures (higher than that of outside air, for example) to rise along a slope defined by the space. If the region around the detection surface is heated to high temperatures, airflow is generated within the space, forcing the relatively high-temperature heat transfer medium away from the vicinity of the radiation detector, thereby allowing the whole radiation detector to be cooled in a uniform manner.

An image capturing base that contains a radiation detector includes a housing having a slit serving as an air inlet port formed in the front end side of the housing, which is to be located adjacent to the chest wall of a subject, and a slit serving as an air outlet port formed in the rear end side of the housing adjacent to a pivot shaft. A fan forces air to flow into the housing through the slit, along a detection surface of the radiation detector in a direction from the front end side toward the rear end side, and out of the housing through the slit.

A radiation image capturing apparatus includes a conductive gel member disposed between a radiation detector and an integrated circuit provided in vicinity of the radiation detector and electrically connected thereto. The conductive gel member blocks the electromagnetic noise generated by the integrated circuit and thereby prevents the electromagnetic noise from propagating to the radiation detector. As a result, the electrical signals generated by the radiation detector are prevented from being affected by the electromagnetic noise and high-quality radiation images can be acquired.

A solid-state radiation detector with increased pixel density. The solid-state radiation detector includes multitudes of linear signal wires for detecting recorded image information as image signals, and a signal detection means disposed on an opposing side of the detector substantially orthogonal to the linear signal wires, and connected to the linear signal wires to detect the image signals from the linear signal wires. A connection section of each of the linear signal wires, extending substantially orthogonal to the opposing side, for connection to the signal detection means is disposed such that the distance from the opposing side to each of the connection sections differs with each other.
