A refrigerant compressor has a first high pressure chamber formed in the rear head, a second high pressure chamber formed on the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder block, and a discharge passage communicating between the two. The discharge passage comprises at least one through hole through which a corresponding through bolt extends, at least one communication passage between the through hole and the first high pressure discharge chamber, at least one communication hole in the cylinder block communicating the through hole to the second high pressure chamber. Alternate embodiments include an oil reservoir and means for separating lubricant carried by the fluid flow within the discharge passage.

Refrigerant compressor

A variable capacity wobble plate compressor includes a first spring, fitted on a drive shaft between a hinge ball axially slidably fitted on the drive shaft and a thrust flange rigidly fitted on the drive shaft, for urging the hinge ball toward a cylinder block, and a second spring fitted on the drive shaft between the hinge ball and the cylinder block for urging the hinge ball toward the thrust flange. As the hinge ball is moved toward the thrust flange, a linkage connecting a drive hub slidably mounted on the hinge ball a causes an inclination of the drive hub to be increased to increase capacity of the compressor, and as the hinge ball is moved toward the cylinder block, the linkage causes the inclination of the drive hub to be decreased to decrease the capacity of the compressor. A first stopper blocks the hinge ball from moving toward the thrust flange in excess of a predetermined amount, to thereby restrict an increase in the inclination of the drive hub and set the maximum capacity of the compressor. A second stopper blocks the hinge ball from moving toward the cylinder block in excess of a predetermined amount to thereby set the minimum capacity of the compressor.

Variable capacity wobble plate compressor

A variable capacity wobble plate compressor includes a drive shaft, a rotating member rigidly fitted on the drive shaft for rotation in unison with the drive shaft, a tilting rotating member mounted on the drive shaft in a slidable manner, and a pair of link members connecting the rotating member and the tilting rotating member to each other. The rotating member has one radial end portion thereof formed with a pair of link member-holding portions extending in parallel with each other. The pair of link members has one ends thereof pivotally connected to the pair of link member-holding portions by a first connecting member, and other ends thereof connected to the tilting rotating member by a second connecting member. The first connecting member is formed by a bolt, one of the pair of link member-holding portions being formed therethrough with an internal thread, another of the pair of link member-holding portions and the one ends of the link members being formed respectively with through holes, the bolt extending through the through holes of the another of the pair of link member-holding portions and the one ends of the link members and being screwed into the internal thread formed through the one of the pair of link member-holding portions.

A guide member of a wobble plate compressor is slidably mounted in an inner wall surface of a housing of the wobble plate compressor. The guide member comprises a guide part having a U-shaped cross-section and defining a linear guide groove therein into which is slidably inserted a rotation-preventing member rigidly mounted on the wobble plate, and a pair of half cylinder shaped sliding parts mounted on opposite sides of the guide part for sliding in the inner wall surface of the housing. The inner surface of the guide member is hardened by surface treatment.

A refrigerant compressor includes a drive shaft, a pulley fixedly fitted on the drive shaft, over which is passed a torque-transmitting member for transmitting torque from an external drive source to the drive shaft, and a compression rotational member mounted on the drive shaft for rotation in unison with the drive shaft to enable compression of a refrigerant gas. The pulley has a rim in the form of a hollow cylinder, over which is passed the torque-transmitting member, a boss which is fixedly fitted on the drive shaft, and a support member connecting the rim and the boss. A breakaway portion is provided in the support member or the drive shaft for breaking to disconnect the torque-transmitting member from the compression rotational member when a load torque larger than a predetermined value is applied to the breakaway portion. A bearing is arranged on the pulley for receiving tension of the torque-transmitting member to thereby maintain the rim in a rotating state when the torque-transmitting member is disconnected from the compression rotational member by breaking of the breakaway portion.

A hinge ball for a variable capacity wobble plate compressor includes a central through hole 27 for permitting a shaft 5 to loosely extend therethrough, and an outer peripheral wall 9b in a convex form for being slidably fit with an inner peripheral wall 43a in a concave form of a boss 43 of a drive hub 41 rotatively fitted on the shaft 5. The shaft 5 is higher in hardness than the hardness of the boss 43 of the drive hub 41, and the outer peripheral surface 9b in sliding contact with the inner peripheral surface 43a of the boss 43 of said drive hub 41 is lower in hardness than the hardness of the shaft 5 and the boss 43 of the drive hub 41 or equal in hardness thereto. The hardness of the inner peripheral wall 9a defining the central through hole 27 is made higher than the hardness of the boss 43 of the drive hub 41.

Hinge ball for variable capacity wobble plate compressors and hardening

A drive hub-receiving surface 40c of a thrust flange 40 is set substantially at a right angle to the axis of a shaft 5, whereby when the compressor drastically enters the maximum delivery quantity condition, an abutment portion 41c of a drive hub 41 substantially perpendicularly abuts on the drive hub-receiving surface 40c of the thrust flange 40. This prevents load from perpendicularly acting on the shaft 5, causing substantially no elastic deformation of the shaft 5. Further, under the maximum delivery quantity condition, the abutment portion 41c of the drive hub 41 perpendicularly abuts on the drive hub-receiving surface 40c, so that compression reaction forces acting from a piston 7 to the drive hub 41 are absorbed by the drive hub-receiving surface 40c of the thrust flange 40, thereby decreasing the vibration of the drive hub 41.
