An Object of the invention is to obtain an all solid lithium battery having an excellent output performance. To achieve the object, a sulfide based solid electrolyte is used as an electrolyte; an oxide containing lithium, a metal element that acts as a redox couple, and a metal element that forms an electron-insulating oxide is used as a cathode active material; and the concentration of the metal element that forms the electron-insulating oxide on the surface of the cathode active material (oxide) that is in contact with the sulfide solid electrolyte is made high.

All solid lithium battery

An embodiment of the present application aims at providing a material which repeatedly undergoes a conversion reaction and an alloying reaction to have an improved columbic efficiency in a first cycle of the repeating, and thereby allowing the material to serve as a high-electrical capacity negative electrode of a lithium secondary battery. In order to attain the object, a negative-electrode material is made by mixed dispersion of (i) nanoparticles of an electrical conducting material having electronic conduction and (ii) nanoparticles of an electrode active material which is reducible to a simple substance which undergoes an alloying reaction with lithium. The electrical conducting material is a sulfide having electronic conduction, and the electrode active material is a sulfide of an element which undergoes the alloying reaction with lithium. Further, the element which undergoes the alloying reaction with lithium is silicon.

Negative-electrode material and lithium secondary battery using same

Disclosed is a lithium ion-conductive solid electrolyte exhibiting high lithium ion conductivity even at room temperature which is hardly oxidized and free from problems of toxicity and contains as components lithium (Li) element, boron (B) element, sulfur (S) element, and oxygen (O) element, and the ratio between sulfur element and oxygen element (O/S) is 0.01 to 1.43.

Lithium ion-conductive solid electrolyte

An all-solid lithium secondary battery has excellent reliability including safety. However, in general, its energy density or output density is lower than that achieved by liquid electrolyte systems. The all-solid lithium battery includes a lithium ion-conducting solid electrolyte as an electrolyte. The lithium ion-conducting solid electrolyte is mainly composed of a sulfide, and the surface of a positive electrode active material is coated with a lithium ion-conducting oxide. The advantages of the present invention are particularly significant when the positive electrode active material exhibits a potential of 3 V or more during operation of the all-solid lithium battery, i.e., when redox reaction occurs at a potential of 3 V or more.

In a lithium secondary battery comprising a chargeable and dischargeable positive electrode, a chargeable and dischargeable negative electrode and an electrolyte, wherein at least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode comprises a lithium-containing halide having a spinel structure or spinel analogous structure, the lithium-containing halide having a spinel structure or spinel analogous structure having a high ion bonding property is dissolved into an electrolyte obtained by dissolving a salt into an organic solvent. In the secondary battery of the present invention, since a lithium ion conductive inorganic solid electrolyte is used as an electrolyte, there can be obtained a chargeable and dischargeable lithium battery in which at least one of a positive electrode and a negative electrode comprises a lithium-containing halide having a spinel structure or a spinel analogous structure.

Lithium secondary battery

A molded solid electrolyte, a molded electrode and an electrochemical device which contain a polymer composition consisting of 50 to 100 wt % of 1,2-polybutadiene having a 1,2-vinyl content of 70% or more and a crystallinity of 5 to 50%, and 0 to 50 wt % of polar rubber. According to the present invention, it becomes possible to obtain a molded solid electrolyte provided with high ionic conductivity and high workability, or a molded electrode having high electrode activity, and it is also possible to obtain an electrochemical device showing excellent activating properties by using the molded solid electrolyte and the molded electrode.

A solid-state secondary lithium battery with excellent charge and discharge cycle characteristics, using a negative electrode active material which shows discontinuous change of potential caused by the lithium ion insertion and extraction reactions, wherein the amount of the lithium ion inserted, until discontinuous change of potential of the negative electrode takes place, is equal to or smaller than the maximum amount of extraction of lithium ions within the range where lithium ions are inserted and extracted into or from the lithium transition metal oxide reversibly, and a battery assembly using these batteries.

Solid state rechargeable lithium battery, stacking battery, and charging method of the same

A lithium secondary battery free from problems encountered with a positive electrode active material exhibiting an electrode potential of not lower than 4.5 volts versus Li&mdash;a deterioration in performances because of self-discharge with decomposition of the electrolyte. The lithium secondary battery uses a sulfide based lithium ion conductive solid electrolyte as the electrolyte. Thus, a lithium secondary battery with a very low self-discharge tendency, that is, with the decomposition of electrolyte highly controlled, can be obtained even using the positive electrode active material generating a high voltage.

Lithium battery

A lithium ion conductive inorganic solid electrolyte is used as an electrolyte in a lithium secondary battery which uses a transition metal chalcogenide or a lithium&bull; transition metal chalcogenide as an active material for negative electrode. There is provided a lithium secondary battery improved in reversibility and in charge and discharge cycle characteristics as compared with lithium secondary batteries which use a liquid electrolyte or a molten salt electrolyte as the electrolyte.

A totally-solid lithium secondary battery can be improved in charge and discharge characteristics by adding to the negative electrode a first transition metal chalcogenide or lithium&bull;transition metal chalcogenide which acts as the active material for negative electrode and a second transition metal chalcogenide or lithium&bull;transition metal chalcogenide which inhibits precipitation of metallic lithium.

Totally-solid lithium secondary battery

Disclosed are a molded solid electrolyte and molded electrode having excellent electrochemical properties and high procesability. As a binder for these molded articles, a hydrogenated block copolymer is used which is obtained by hydrogenating a straight chain or branched block copolymer containing a block (A) comprising polybutadiene whose 1,2-vinyl bond content is 15% or less and a block (B) comprising a butadiene (co)polymer consisting of 50 to 100% by weight of butadiene and 0 to 50% by weight of other monomers in which 1,2-vinyl bond content of butadiene portion is 20 to 90%, wherein (A)/(B)&equals;5 to 70/95 to 30% by weight.
