A formation method for forming a water repellent layer on a surface of a metal substrate forms asperities on a surface of a metal basis material of the metal substrate by irradiating the metal basis material with plasma ions. The formation method forms an alloy from atoms of a metal of the metal basis material and the plasma ions. The formation method forms the asperities with portions of the metal basis material, which are not etched due to the alloy, and portions of the metal basis material, which are not alloyed but are etched. The formation method forms the water repellent layer by forming the asperities.

An injector includes a valve body, a needle valve, and a thermal expansion member. The valve body includes an internal space and a bottom portion having a nozzle hole. One end side of the space is covered with the bottom portion. The needle valve is accommodated in the space such that a fuel passage leading to the hole is formed between an inner surface of the valve body and an outer surface of the needle valve. The passage is opened or closed with respect to the hole by movement of the needle valve, so fuel injection is started or stopped. The inner surface of the bottom portion is opposed to a one end surface of the needle valve. The member is attached on the one end surface. The member is made of a material having a larger coefficient of thermal expansion than a material of the needle valve.

Injector

A reducing gas generator generates reducing gas including ammonia. The generator includes a solid reductant and a heat-generating portion. The solid reductant is formed in a columnar shape. A cross-sectional surface of the solid reductant has a constant shape and is perpendicular to a central axis of the solid reductant. The heat-generating portion includes a heat-generating surface opposed to a lower surface of the solid reductant in a vertical direction thereof and in contact with an entire region of the lower surface, and a heating element that heats the heat-generating surface when energized, so that the solid reductant is heated and decomposed to generate the reducing gas.

A DPF and a SCR catalyst are provided in an exhaust pipe, and a urea solution addition valve is provided between the DPF and the SCR catalyst for performing addition supply of urea solution into the exhaust pipe. In a urea solution supply system, the urea solution of prescribed concentration is stored in a urea solution tank, and a urea solution pump is provided in the tank. A urea solution supply pipe is connected to the urea solution pump. A part of the urea solution supply pipe is structured as a compound pipe structure defining two passages. One of the two passages serves as a urea solution passage, and the other one serves as an engine coolant passage.

Exhaust purification device of engine

A fuel injection valve has a valve guide, a valve member movable in a center opening of the valve guide along an axial direction of the valve guide, and a covering layer disposed on a surface of the valve guide. The valve guide has a valve seat placed on an inner surface thereof and a nozzle hole from which fuel is injected. The valve member is seated on the valve seat to close the nozzle hole and leaves the valve seat to open the nozzle hole. The covering layer is placed around an outlet opening of the nozzle hole. The covering layer is made of boron nitride in a hexagonal crystal system so as to have a hydrophilic property higher than that of the surface of the valve guide.

Fuel injection valve for internal combustion engine

A gas sensor element is provided which is designed to measure the concentration of hydrogen-containing gas accurately. The sensor element includes an oxygen pump cell working to keep the concentration of oxygen contained in measurement gasses entering a measurement gas chamber at a low concentration level and a hydrogen-containing gas measurement cell. The hydrogen-containing gas measurement cell is made up of a proton-conductive solid electrolyte body and a first and a second gas measurement electrode affixed to the proton-conductive solid electrolyte body. The first gas measurement electrode is exposed to the measurement gas chamber and serves to produce a signal between the first and second gas measurement electrodes as a function of the concentration of the hydrogen-containing gas.

Hydrogen-containing gas measurement sensor element and measuring method using same

A gas sensor includes a measurement gas chamber into which a measurement gas is introduced. An oxygen pumping cell adjusts an oxygen concentration in the measurement gas chamber. An oxygen monitor cell has a monitor electrode exposed in the measurement gas chamber. The monitor electrode has an oxidizing activity with respect to a specific component of the measurement gas. A sensor cell has a sensor electrode exposed in the measurement gas chamber. The sensor electrode has an oxidizing activity with respect to the specific component of the measurement gas which is lower than the oxidizing activity of the monitor electrode. An oxygen-ion current in the oxygen monitor cell is detected. An oxygen-ion current in the sensor cell is detected. A concentration of the specific component of the measurement gas is detected from a relation between the detected oxygen-ion currents in the oxygen monitor cell and the sensor cell.

A hologram screendisplays an image by diffracting and scattering image lightprojected from an image projection apparatus. An upward/downward light scattering device, which scatters light incident from an upward/downward specific angle range spreading obliquely upward or downward, is placed on the image projection apparatus side of a hologram devicein the hologram screen. A leftward/rightward light scattering device, which scatters light incident from a leftward/rightward specific angle range spreading obliquely leftward and rightward, is placed between the hologram deviceand the scattering device. The construction is such that the upward/downward specific angle range contains the incidence angle of the image lighton the hologram screen, and thus provides a hologram screen having good color reproducibility and which permits viewing of the background.

The oxygen concentration detector of the present invention includes a sensor element having a solid electrolyte and having an external electrode and an internal electrode provided on the external surface and the internal surface, respectively, and a heater provided adjacent to the internal surface of the sensor element, in which a high-emissivity layer consisting of a material having a high emissivity is provided on the internal surface of the sensor element and/or the surface of the heater.

Oxygen concentration detector

The present invention provides a hologram screen which is capable of preventing separation, and damage to, a hologram film and which permits the hologram film to be reused easily. The present invention relates to a hologram screen that is comprised of a hologram film having the function of diffracting the light projected from a projector, and first and second transparent members that together sandwich the hologram film from the front and back surfaces thereof so as to cover the same.

Hologram screen

A hologram screen is produced by using a transmission-type hologram film, permitting images to be seen from the side of the projector. The hologram screen has a transparent member and a hologram film stuck to the transparent member, and produces the image by projecting image-forming light from the projector. The hologram film is of the transmission-type. The hologram screen also has a reflector for reflecting the image-forming light arranged on the back surface side of the hologram film.

An oxygen sensor capable of accelerating electrochemical reactions and practically working at a low temperature comprises a solid electrolyte 5, and an outer electrode 31 and an inner electrode 32, provided on the surfaces of the solid electrolyte 5, wherein mixed conductors 11 and 12 capable of adsorbing oxygen molecules and conducting an ionization reaction are provided between the solid electrolyte 5 and the outer electrode 31 and between the solid electrolyte 5 and the inner electrode 32, respectively. The mixed conductors 11 and 12 are porous and have a higher oxygen ion conductivity than that of the solid electrolyte 5 and an electron conductivity substantially equivalent to the oxygen ion conductivity and are made of a fluorite-type oxide or a perovskite-type oxide.

Oxygen sensor

A method for producing PLZT generally expressed as (Pb.sub.1-x La.sub.x) (Zr.sub.1-y Ti.sub.y).sub.1-x/4 O.sub.3 (0&lt;x.ltoreq.0.3, 0.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.1.0) comprises the steps of forming a coprecipitated body by reacting solution containing at least one of Pb, La and Ti with a zirconium-containing solution and a precipitation-forming solution, or (a) forming a solution containing at least one of Pb, La and Ti forming PLZT generally expressed as (Pb.sub.1-x La.sub.x) (Zr.sub.1-y Ti.sub.y).sub.1-x/4 O.sub.3 (0&lt;x.ltoreq.0.3, 0.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.1.0) and a zirconium-containing solution and carrying out a hydrolysis reaction to produce a sol body, (b) drying and then presintering the coprecipitated body at a temperature of from 700.degree. to 1300.degree. C. to form a modified zirconia powder, (c) mixing the presintered body with a compound having a remaining component composition of a required PLZT composition, (d) presintering the mixture at a temperature of from 500.degree. to 1000.degree. C., (e) pressing the obtained presintered powder, and then sintering the molded powder at a temperature of from 1000.degree. to 1300.degree. C.

Method for producing a PLZT compound

A piezoelectric ceramic composition is disclosed wherein a sintered body having a bismuth layer structure represented by a molecular formula of PbBi.sub.4 Ti.sub.4 O.sub.15 contains 10 to 55 mol % of an oxide of Ca and Ti, namely CaTiO.sub.3, or 1 to 15 mol % of an oxide of Sr and Ti, namely, SrTiO.sub.3. The bismuth layer structure of PbBi.sub.4 Ti.sub.4 O.sub.15 has a positive dielectric-constant-temperature characteristic, and CaTiO.sub.3 or SrTiO.sub.3 is obtained by sintering as an added substance exhibiting a negative dielectric-constant-temperature characteristic. Since the added substance is added to the piezoelectric ceramic composition so that the temperature changes in both dielectric constants are mutually cancelled out, thereby maintaining the piezoelectric constants at a substantially fixed level.
