An occupant load detecting device of a seat for a vehicle includes a strain member arranged between a floor-side fixing member and a seat-side fixing member and having a strain gauge, a connecting member fixed to the strain member and securely connected to one of the floor-side fixing member and the seat-side fixing member, a first supporting member relatively immovably fitted into a fixing hole and fixed to an attachment surface formed at the other one of the floor-side fixing member and the seat-side fixing member to support the strain member, a second supporting member fitted into an attachment hole and fixed to the attachment surface, and a bracket including first and second fixing portions and an amplifier case fixing portion continuous with the first and second fixing portions and extending at a side of the strain member in a lateral direction of the seat.

Occupant load detecting device of seat for vehicle

An occupant load sensor of a seat for a vehicle includes a metal-made bracket fixed to a strain member and having an attachment portion extending in a lateral direction from the strain member, an amplifier substrate for amplifying a signal transmitted by the strain gauge. One surface of the amplifier substrate is covered by the attachment portion of the metal-made bracket and the other surface thereof is covered by a metal-foil ground pattern. The occupant load sensor further includes a resin-made amplifier case fixed to the attachment portion of the metal-made bracket and arranged in parallel to the strain member. The resin-made amplifier case houses therein the amplifier substrate.

Occupant load sensor of seat for vehicle

An occupant determination device for a vehicle seat includes a load sensor provided at a seat body, a controller for calculating a detection load value based on a load value output from the load sensor and for determining whether an occupant seated on the vehicle seat is adult or a child, wherein a hysteresis is provided for changing the occupant determination from either a child or an adult to an adult or a child.

An attachment structure for installing a load sensor to a vehicle seat includes the load sensor having a plate-shaped strain unit and a strain gauge for detecting a strain of the plate-shaped strain unit. The load sensor is structured that one end of the plate-shaped strain unit is fixed to a seating portion of the vehicle seat and the other end of the strain unit is fixed to a vehicle body. Also, a strain portion is defined between each fixed end of the plate-shaped strain unit, and the strain portion is deformable in a vertical direction relative to the vehicle seat. In addition, a load input point from the seating portion is defined approximately at a central portion of the strain portion of the plate-shaped strain unit.

A seated passenger's weight detection device includes a seat vertical position adjusting means having a front link and a rear link, a weight detection sensor for detecting a weight of a seated passenger on the basis of an input from the front link and an input from the rear link and a backward and forward input cancel means for canceling backward and forward inputs which operate to the front link and the rear link.

Seated passenger's weight detection device

A vehicle seat having a load sensor arranged on a seat body for generating a load signal corresponding to a load applied to the seat body, a detecting means for detecting whether a seat belt is buckled to the vehicle seat and generating a detection signal, and a determining means for comparing the load signal and a predetermined value in response to the detection signal when the seat belt is buckled and judging that an adult is not seated on the seat body when the load signal is less than the predetermined value. The seated condition of the vehicle seat is detected properly by the determination result of the determining means.

Vehicle seat

An attachment structure installs a load sensor between a seating portion of a vehicle seat and a vehicle body through an attachment structure unit. The attachment structure unit includes a first attachment bracket for holding one end of the strain unit, and a second attachment bracket for holding the other end of the strain unit. At least a pair of attachment structure units are arranged at right and left portions of a front side, right and left portions of a back side, or right and left portions of the front and back sides of the seating portion relative to the vehicle seat and the first attachment brackets of the attachment structure units of the right and left are connected to each other through a connecting rod.

An accelerator pedal device includes a pedal arm, a liner, a hysteresis lever, and a spring. The pedal arm is pivotally supported on a housing and tilted by accelerator manipulation. The liner is formed on the pedal arm in the vicinity of a pivoting point of the pedal arm. The resilient hysteresis lever is engaged with the housing to cross the pedal arm. The hysteresis lever includes a sliding portion sliding on the liner. The spring is interposed between a pedal arm side opposite to a point of force to which an accelerator manipulation force is applied of the pivoting point regarding the pedal arm and a side of the hysteresis lever opposite to a portion engaged with the housing regarding the sliding portion. The spring elongates and contracts in response to tilting of the pedal arm to generate a reaction force and a hysteresis load.

Accelerator pedal device

A detector for detecting the load applied to a passenger seat of an automobile equipped with an air bag. The load detector includes a sensor bracket having a deformation portion that deforms in accordance with the amount of the load. A strain sensor is arranged on the deformation portion to detect the degree of deformation of the deformation portion. A force limiter bracket is located adjacent to the sensor bracket to limit deformation of the deformation portion within a predetermined range. An anchor bracket is formed integrally with the force limiter bracket and is connected to a seat belt.

Vehicle seat having passenger detector

A weight detector for detecting the weight of a passenger seated on a vehicle seat includes a first load sensor and a second load sensor provided on opposite sides of a rear portion of the vehicle seat. Each of the first and second load sensors has a predetermined detection range. The weight detector further includes a third load sensor and a fourth load sensor provided on opposite sides of a front portion of the vehicle seat. Each of the third and fourth load sensors has a predetermined detection range. If a detection value based on a load acquired by one of the first through fourth load sensors exceeds its detection range, the weight detector uses an old value that was determined under proper condition. Otherwise, the weight detector determines the size of the passenger based on the currently detected values.

Weight detector for vehicle seat

An acceleration detector comprising a rotor rotatably supported within a housing and rotating against the urging force of a torsion spring based on acceleration, a pair of contact terminals contacting each other to be in an electrically connected state by rotation of the rotor at an inner end portion provided within the housing, and a supporting portion integrally formed with the rotor and supporting the torsion spring. The supporting portion is displaced by a predetermined amount in a predetermined direction from the rotary center of the rotor so that the spring effect center when torque is exerted on the torsion spring by rotation of the rotor substantially corresponds to the rotary center of the rotor. This construction of the acceleration detector produces the desired performance approximating the design value in an acceleration detector.

Acceleration detector with spring biased rotor

A vehicle seat that detects a child restraint apparatus, which is attached to the seat by a seat belt, for operation of an air bag. A first load sensor is attached to one side of the seat to detect load and generate a first detection value. A second load sensor is attached to the seat at an opposite side of the seat to detect load and generate a second detection value. A control unit is connected to the first and second load sensors and determines whether the child restraint apparatus is present based on the first and second detection values.

A seating load detecting device in which a lower arm for supporting a seat cushion and a seat back is coupled with an upper rail by a front bracket and a rear bracket. A distortion gage is attached to the bracket. The bracket comprises a curved portion of a U-shape or V-shape. The lower arm and the upper rail are coupled to each other with the direction orthogonal to two opposing legs of the curved portion being vertical. The distortion gage has a total of four distortion detecting elements G to G distributed in a matrix distribution, two attached in the front and back directional plane of the legs and two attached in the width directional plane of the legs. Due to the Wheatstone bridge connection line of these elements, high gain of a seating load detection voltage e with respect to the amount in change of the vertical load Fv can be obtained.

Seating load detecting device with bracket mounted sensor

An acceleration detecting device includes a hollow housing having a side wall, a bottom wall and an opening and a cover closing the opening of the hollow housing. A weight is pivotally mounted in the hollow housing to be rotated about a locus in response to an applied acceleration. Also positioned within the housing is a contact assembly to be electrically-closed by the rotated weight. A plastic main body is held in the hollow housing along the side wall to support the contact assembly and keep the contact assembly spaced from the locus of the weight during the rotation of the weight. The plastic main body which supports the contact assembly may have a wider support along the side wall of the hollow housing, which is independent from fixture of the cover. Therefore, the contact assembly may be supported by the hollow housing through the main body in a more reliable manner. Further, the weight may rotate without any interference to the contact assembly because the contact assembly is kept off the locus of the weight.

Acceleration detecting device

An acceleration detecting device includes a housing, a weight pivotally mounted inside the housing for rotating along a locus in response to an applied acceleration, a spring provided between the housing and the weight to apply a biasing force to the weight against the applied acceleration, and a contact assembly located outside the locus of the weight. The contact assembly is adapted to be electrically closed by the rotation of the weight. An arc-shaped circumference of the weight maintains the same distance between the weight and the contact assembly during the rotation of the weight. When an excessive acceleration is applied to the device, the weight rotates from an initial position against the biasing force of the spring to electrically close the contact assembly. The weight is returned to the initial position by the biasing force of the spring to electrically open the contact assembly when the excess acceleration is no longer present. Because the spring which applies the biasing force is separated from the contact assembly, the biasing force is reliably maintained for a longer period. Further, the weight can rotate without any interference to the contact assembly because the arc-shaped outer circumference of the weight maintains the contact assembly spaced from the locus of the weight.
