The object is to provide a display device with a superior viewing angle. The display device includes a display portion, a liquid-crystal barrier portion, first to third polarizing layers, and at least one viewing-angle compensation layer. The liquid-crystal barrier portion is disposed on one side of the display portion, and adjusts an intensity of light of the display portion. The first polarizing layer is disposed opposite to the liquid-crystal barrier portion relative to the display portion. The second polarizing layer is interposed between the display portion and the liquid-crystal barrier portion. The third polarizing layer is disposed opposite to the display portion relative to the liquid-crystal barrier portion. The viewing-angle compensation layer is interposed between the liquid-crystal barrier portion and the third polarizing layer, and no viewing-angle compensation layer is interposed between the second polarizing layer and the liquid-crystal barrier portion.

Display device

An object of the present invention is to reduce luminance unevenness caused by interference between a pixel and a PS in a barrier panel without making a design of the PS complicated in a parallax barrier system stereoscopic display device. A plurality of pixels are arranged at a regular pitch in an x direction and a y direction. A light barrier element includes a pair of glass substrates, a liquid crystal layer provided between the glass substrates, and a plurality of PSs provided between the glass substrates. The plurality of PSs are arranged at a regular pitch in the x direction and the y direction. Arrangement pitches of the plurality of PSs in the x direction and the y direction are not integral multiples of arrangement pitches of the plurality of pixels in the x direction and the y direction, respectively.

Stereoscopic display device

Provided is a liquid crystal display panel including a first pixel that is brought into abutment against a photospacer, second pixels having opening regions of the same color as a color of an opening region of the first pixel, and third pixels being other pixels and having the largest area of opening regions. A distance between a photospacer set position and a through-hole in each pixel is larger in the first pixel and in the second pixels than in the third pixels.

Liquid crystal display panel

A pretilt angle of a liquid crystal molecule on the side of an array substrate is formed such that the liquid crystal molecule goes away from the array substrate in a direction to the left when viewed from a position facing a display surface of a liquid crystal panel. The pretilt angle on the side of a counter substrate is formed such that the liquid crystal molecule goes away from the counter substrate in a direction to the right when viewed from a position facing the display surface. The directions to the left and the right define a direction X corresponding to a horizontal direction of the liquid crystal panel. A direction of a delay phase axis of a biaxial phase difference film is arranged in a position rotated anticlockwise in an angular range from over 0&#xb0; to 1&#xb0; from the direction X.

Liquid crystal panel, liquid crystal display device including liquid crystal panel, and method of manufacturing liquid crystal panel

Provided is a technique for correcting a yellow shift to white. A liquid crystal display includes the following: a color filter substrate including a black matrix provided with a plurality of openings, and coloring materials of a plurality of colors disposed in the respective plurality of openings; an upper electrode having a plurality of slits for each opening; and a lower electrode. The plurality of colors include blue and two or more different colors other than blue. With respect to a first distance being a distance between an end of a drive region and an end of the opening corresponding to the plurality of slits, the first distance corresponding to the blue coloring material is different from the first distance corresponding to each of the coloring materials of the different colors.

Liquid crystal display

A display panel includes sub-pixel pairs arranged laterally at a predetermined pitch, the sub-pixel pair including two sub pixels displaying images for right and left eyes respectively. A parallax-barrier shutter panel includes sub apertures switching light-transmitting and light-blocking states by driving a liquid crystal layer held between two transparent substrates with transparent electrodes extending vertically. The sub apertures are arranged laterally at a pitch obtained by dividing a reference parallax-barrier pitch by N (N being an even number equal to or greater than four), the reference parallax-barrier pitch being determined on the basis of a predetermined design observation distance and the pitch of the sub-pixel pairs. The parallax-barrier shutter panel includes common driving areas obtained by dividing a display area laterally. (N&#xb7;M+N/2) pieces of the transparent electrodes (M being a positive integer) arranged in the common driving are connected with every N-th one of the transparent electrodes.

Stereoscopic image display apparatus, and drive method therefor

A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a collective drive lighting inspection signal input wire that electrically connects a collective drive lighting inspection terminal to a plurality of gate wires and a plurality of source wires. The collective drive lighting inspection signal input wire includes a first wire corresponding to the gate wires and a second wire corresponding to the source wires. The first wire and the second wire each include a connection wire and a lead-out wire. The connection wire includes branch points connected to each of the plurality of gate wires or each of the plurality of source wires. The lead-out wire is led out from the connection wire to the collective drive lighting inspection terminal. The lead-out wire included in the first wire or the second wire includes a high-resistance region having a resistivity greater than a resistivity of the connection wire connected to the lead-out wire.

Liquid crystal display apparatus

Liquid crystal molecules have a pretilt angle to the left-and-right direction in a plane perpendicular to the up-and-down direction, so that an end part of a first side as one side of a left side and a right side of the liquid crystal molecules is set closer to a backlight than an end part of a second side as the other side. Second edge parts of a black matrix adjacent to an upper side and a lower side of an opening have a straight line shape extending by inclination to mutually the same side in the left-and-right direction, so that an end part of the same side as a first side as one side of the left side and the right side of the second edge parts is positioned above the end part of the same side as the second side as the other side.

Liquid crystal display device

The plurality of thin film transistors are provided corresponding to intersections between a plurality of gate wires and a plurality of source wires, respectively. The pixel electrodes are connected to the thin film transistors. The counter electrodes face the pixel electrodes. The leading line is provided outside a display area and connected to one of gate wires. The conversion portion is provided in the vicinity of the display area, at which the leading line is connected to another wiring layer. The insulating film is provided on the conversion portion at a side of the counter substrate. The conductive layer faces the conversion portion with the insulating film interposed therebetween and has transparency. To the conductive layer together with the counter electrodes, applied is a common potential.

Display device and method of manufacturing thin film transistor

The display device includes a display panel on which sub-pixel pairs are arranged in a lateral direction, and a parallax barrier shutter panel on which sub-openings that can be changed between a light transmittance state and a light-shielding state are arranged in a lateral direction. Arbitrary allocated number of adjacent sub-openings among the plural sub-openings belonging to a reference parallax barrier pitch are put into a light transmittance state, and the remaining sub-openings are put into a light-shielding state, so that a general opening is formed on the parallax barrier shutter panel. A sub-opening pitch of the sub-opening on the boundary part between the adjacent common driving areas is different from the sub-opening pitch of the other sub-openings.

In a wiring conversion part which connects a lower conductive film to a first conductive film each functioning as a wiring, a first transparent conductive film is formed into a pattern in which it covers an end surface of the first conductive film, and an angle formed at a corner part in a portion of the first transparent conductive film making contact with a lower first insulating film (outside a width of the first conductive film) is larger than 90 degrees and smaller than 270 degrees or the corner part has an arc shape. A second transparent conductive film is connected to the lower conductive film and the first transparent conductive film, and the first transparent conductive film is connected to the first conductive film, so that the lower conductive film and the first conductive film are electrically connected to each other.
