A plasma display apparatus is equipped with a signal input terminal responsive to a user's application. The plasma display apparatus includes a panel including a pair of substrates, wherein at least one of the substrates is transparent. The substrates are placed opposite to each other to form a discharge space in between, and electrodes are provided to the substrate. The plasma display apparatus also includes a display driving circuit block, disposed on a chassis and equipped with at least one signal inputting connector which applies a signal to the panel to perform displaying, and an input signal circuit block detachable to the signal inputting connector of the display driving circuit block.

In a display device, attached to a plate-type chassis ( ) is a PDP ( ) having a display screen on which videos are displayed and a circuit board ( ) on which a circuit driving the PDP ( ) is arranged. A television receiving apparatus having a video tape recorder unit therein with a function for preventing an electric shock, for preventing a user from inserting his fingers into a cabinet when the video tape recorder unit is removed from the cabinet for repair or the like, includes a locking mechanism for locking a controller door panel at a position where it is closed. The controller door panel is used for operating the video tape recorder unit contained in the apparatus. In order to surely obtain security of the user even when the locking operation is forgotten, the apparatus further includes a mechanism for interrupting supply of electric power to a television receiver when the absence of the video tape recorder unit in the cabinet is detected and when the controller door panel is detected to be opened at and more than a predetermined angle. A possibility that the user will receive an electric shock can thus be eliminated.

Television receiving apparatus having a video tape recorder unit therein

A casing for use in a television set has a U-shaped frame for firmly supporting the cathode ray tube and a chassis arrangement for supporting a circuit arrangement for driving the cathode ray tube. An escutcheon is secured to the frame at a position in front of a screen of the cathode ray tube. A protection cover is connected to the frame for covering the cathode ray tube. Thus, the frame, chassis arrangement, escutcheon and protection cover taken together define an integral unit which is a semi-completed product that can be shipped from a factory. The casing further has a cabinet provided over the protection cover for covering and decorating the appearance the television set, and a back cover for enclosing the integral unit in the cabinet. The cabinet and the back cover can be applied at a local distribution station in accordance with the desire of the user.
