According to one embodiment, an electronic device includes a display panel configured to display an image and including a display region that transmits external light, a light source unit, a camera opposed to the display region of the display panel, and a control unit. The control unit is configured to in a light emission period, permit irradiation of light by the light source unit, irradiate the display region with light, display the image in the display region, and prohibit capturing by the camera. The control unit is configured to in a capturing period, prohibit the irradiation of the light by the light source unit, set the display region to be transparent, permit the capturing by the camera, and take in the external light transmitted through the display region to the camera.

According to an aspect, a display device includes: a display that includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a predetermined direction and is configured to output an image; an acquirer configured to periodically acquire information related to a sight line of a user visually recognizing the image; a storage configured to store image group data provided from an external information processing device based on the information at a first time point; and a display controller configured to select display data corresponding to the sight line from among the image group data based on the information at a second time point later than the first time point and cause the display to display the display data.

According to an aspect, a display device includes: a substrate that has a display area; pixels that are provided in the display area and are arranged in a first direction and a second direction intersecting the first direction; gate lines that extend in the first direction and are arranged in the second direction; and a first gate driver and a second gate driver that are configured to supply gate drive signals to the gate lines. The first and second gate drivers are each provided along the second direction and are arranged in the first direction. The first and second gate drivers are configured to: sequentially scan the gate lines in a first area of the display area; and simultaneously scan more than one of the gate lines that are adjacent to one another in the second direction in a second area different from the first area of the display area.

A display device includes a plurality of light emitting devices included in a pixel, and a control circuit configured to define each of a plurality of subframe periods included in a frame period during which a frame image is displayed as one of an emission period in which the light emitting device is in an emission state and a non-emission period in which the light emitting device is in a non-emission state, and to control emission of the light emitting device, based on a gradation value of the pixel.

A display device includes: a display panel with pixels; a light source with light emission points; an acquirer configured to acquire viewpoint information; and a controller configured to control image display based on the viewpoint information on positions of viewpoints and an arrangement direction of the viewpoints. The controller is configured to drive some or all of pixels positioned on straight lines each connecting a corresponding one of the light emission points to a corresponding one of the viewpoints based on a relative rotation angle between the display panel and the arrangement direction and a relative positional relation between the viewpoints and the light emission points. The light emission points are individually switchable between a turned-on state and a turned-off state. A pitch of the light emission points is smaller than a pitch of light emission points controlled to be turned on when outputting an individual image to each viewpoint.

A display device includes a plurality of light-emitting elements, and a control circuit configured to control drive of the light-emitting elements. The control circuit divides one frame period into a plurality of subframe periods having different lengths and controls light emission and non-emission of the light-emitting elements for each of the subframe periods.

According to one embodiment, in a display device a first panel includes a first polarizing plate, a second polarizing plate, and a first liquid crystal panel interposed between the first polarizing plate and the second polarizing plate, a second panel includes a third polarizing plate, a fourth polarizing plate, and a second liquid crystal panel interposed between the third polarizing plate and the fourth polarizing plat, and a polarizing plate, which is located second from a surface close to an illumination device and a surface closest to an observer, has an extinction ratio that is lower than that of each of the other polarizing plates.

According to an aspect, a display device includes a pixel including a first sub-pixel configured to emit light having a peak in a spectrum of red, a second sub-pixel configured to emit light having a peak in a spectrum of green, and a third sub-pixel configured to emit light having a peak in a spectrum of blue. The first sub-pixel, the second sub-pixel, and the third sub-pixel are inorganic light-emitting diodes. A light emission intensity of the second sub-pixel is increased at a predetermined ratio with respect to a light emission intensity of the first sub-pixel when the first sub-pixel emits light at a light emission intensity within a low-luminance range equal to or lower than a predetermined level of luminance.

A display device includes: a display panel with pixels arranged in a first direction and a second direction; and a light source. Each pixel includes: a first sub-pixel including a color filter for a first color; and a second sub-pixel arranged adjacent to the first sub-pixel in the first direction and including a color filter for a complementary color between a second color and a third color. The light source includes: a first light emitter configured to emit light in the first color; a second light emitter configured to emit light in the second color; and a third light emitter configured to emit light in the third color. One frame period includes: a first light emission period of causing the first and second light emitters to emit light simultaneously; and a second light emission period of causing the first and third light emitters to emit light simultaneously.

A display device includes: a display panel with pixel rows; a light source device having light emission regions; and a controller configured to control light emission of the light emission regions. A second period is shorter than a first period. The first period is a period from a drive timing of one or more pixel rows that are driven first to a drive timing of one or more other pixel rows that are driven last. The second period is a period from a light emission timing of one or more light emission regions that emit light first to a light emission timing of one or more other light emission regions that emit light last. The light emission timing of the one or more light emission regions that emit light first is different from the light emission timing of the one or more other light emission regions that emit light last.

According to an aspect, a display device includes: a display substrate; and a filter provided on a display surface side of the display substrate. The filter includes a first sub-pixel area provided with a first color filter, a second sub-pixel area provided with a second color filter, a third sub-pixel area provided with a third color filter, and a colorless fourth sub-pixel area. The display substrate includes a plurality of pixels provided so as to be capable of individually switching each sub-pixel between white, black, and red, and each of the pixels includes a first sub-pixel overlapping the first sub-pixel area, a second sub-pixel overlapping the second sub-pixel area, a third sub-pixel overlapping the third sub-pixel area, and a fourth sub-pixel overlapping the fourth sub-pixel area.

According to an aspect, a display device includes: a liquid crystal display panel provided with a plurality of pixels; and a light source provided with a plurality of light emission points. The ratio of a pitch of the pixels arranged in a predetermined direction to a pitch of the light emission points arranged in the predetermined direction is 1:4n or 1:6n, and n is a natural number.

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a plurality of red subpixels, a plurality of green subpixels, and a plurality of blue subpixels, wherein, in a first direction, the red subpixel and the green subpixel, the green subpixel and the blue subpixel, and the blue subpixel and the red subpixel are arranged to be adjacent to each other, and in a second direction, the red subpixel and the blue subpixel, the blue subpixel and the green subpixel, and the green subpixel and the red subpixel are arranged to be adjacent to each other, and in the subpixels, as to subpixel columns adjacent to each other, when an image signal of the same gradation is input with respect to the subpixels of same color, brightness of one subpixel column is higher than that of another subpixel column.

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display panel including a plurality of pixels arranged in a non-rectangular display area, and a display controller configured to display images in the display area. An opening portion of each of pixels disposed at an edge portion of the display area is light-shielded at an area ratio according to a shape of the display area.

A display device includes: a display panel including pixels for displaying a first color, a second color, a third color, and a fourth color; and a signal processor configured to convert an image signal including gradation data of the first to third colors into a first signal including gradation data of the first to third colors and a second signal including a gradation datum of the fourth color and output the first and second signals. When the gradation data of the image signal have the same value, output signals from the signal processor include an output signal in which the gradation data of the first signal and the gradation datum of the second signal have the same value and an output signal in which the gradation data of the first signal and the gradation datum of the second signal have values different from each other by 1.
